Kelly Benson (sunglorry) | 6 comments I read the Black Dagger Brotherhood awhile ago and I can't find another series like this one. I am totally into the Alpha male with the "She's Mine" intense attitude. I have read alot of series and I am looking over my list in my TBR pile and I can't seem to pick a series.

I have read the most common ones like...
Midnight Breeds - Lara Adrain
IAD by Kresley Cole
Fever - Karen Marie Moning
Demonica & LOD by Larissa Ione
Anita Blake = Laurell K Hamilton
Mark of a Vampire - Laura Wright
Dark Hunters - Sherrilyn Kenyon
Primal Instinct - Rhyannon Byrd
Primes Series - Susan Sizemore
Feral Warriors - Pamela Palmer
Breeds - Lora Leigh
Vampires of America - DB Reynolds

Does anyone have any other suggestions???

I have heard, but cannot confirm, that Coreene Callahan's series is similar but features Dragons, not vampires. I bought them on audio last month, but haven't read them yet. But that is what a couple of goodread friends told me.
Fury of Fire (Dragonfury, #1) by Coreene Callahan Fury of Ice (Dragonfury, #2) by Coreene Callahan Fury of Seduction (Dragonfury, #3) by Coreene Callahan

Ezi Chinny (ezinwanyi) I read ghostwalkers & the Dark Carpathians, while the males were alpha--there was nothing about those books that remotely resembled the feel of BDB (in my opinion).

The Sentinel series by Shannon K. Butcher & New Species by Laurann Dohner (I only read book 1 in both, but plan to continue the series next month) were good stories, but no BDB'ish either. But it's well written and really enjoyable. I definitely enjoyed the first books in both series.

The closest on this suggestions here would probably be Rebecca Zanetti's Dark Protectors. The writing isn't the similar, but the males are definitely alpha & vampires. I loved the overall story and this series each book got better and better because book 1 was so-so. But there was a huge leap in my enjoyment from book 2 to the current one.

I would try Dark Protectors, then New Species and then the Sentinels. Then maybe Ghostwalkers before Dark Carpathians.

(*Again, just my opinion)

Allison | 247 comments I second the recommendation for New Species. From your list I would go with Demonica or Vampires in America. Although Breeds is probably the most similar to BDB.

Kristin (misskris7198) | 74 comments Gena Showalter's Lords of the Underworld might fit. Males are definitely alpha, though not very similar to BDB. And I agree with the Ghostwalker rec's and what people say about it not resembling BDB.

Kristin (misskris7198) | 74 comments It's sort of backwards then what you are asking for; where the main character is female. But have you read The Night Huntress Series by Jeaniene Frost? There is some possessiveness that goes on and the heroine isn't a wimp either, which is just a win/win.

What to read when you can't find BDB or its clones--anything at ALL, since BDB sucks.

There's no reason to insult other people's reading choices. The fact that we all like different books is what makes this community great.

message 20: by Alisa (new)

Alisa I think Lords of the Underworld is a great choice if you're a BDB fan. It's not about vampires but is about a group of guys, each w/their own inner turmoil who live together, fight bad guys & find mates.

If you are open to shifters Nalini Singh's Psy-Changling series is super good & has a similar format.

Larissa Ione also writes a series under Syndney Croft & I've heard good things about it. It's the ACRO series. It's actually next up on my TBR list.

I read the Dragon shifter series mentioned at the begining of this post. It's good (not great but pretty good).

I've just started reading Rise of the Fallen (AKM, #1) by Donya Lynne and it's good so far (I'm only like 20% in) but it's a lot like BDB concept. It's a series called All the Kings Men & I got this one free on Amazon.

I have to co-sign Janice's rec of the Lords of the Underworld series because it is really similar to BDB.

Madhellena | 9 comments If you read the ones on the list, then I can suggest adding Alpha Colony by Aubrey Ross but the world building isn't as complex as other series. It does have the Alpha vibe going :)
Untamed Hunger
