Dragonfury #3

Fury of Seduction

Rate this book
New to the Nightfury pack, dragon-shifter Mac cannot understand the bond between his brothers-in-arms and their human mates - until the moment he spies Tania and the energy bond between them blazes to life. Driven by a primal instinct, Mac will stop at nothing to find Tania, to keep her safe, to possess her. He has no time to waste: Ivar, leader of the rival Razorbacks, hunts her, hungry for a new high-energy pawn with which to destroy the human race. Caught between the warring factions, Tania finds herself immersed in a world she never knew existed - and bound by a love stronger than time.

With Mac, her safety from Ivar and the perils of the human world is assured, but still she is left with a terrible choice: forsake the independence she's fought so hard to achieve and reclaim the life she loves, or abandon the man who now holds her heart.

I enjoyed this one but I do think the previous two books were a bit more exciting. I am very intrigued by what we learned from the lone dragon and what he discovered at the clubs. I’m looking forward to when he takes that whole operation down. I assume the Nightflury’s will be a part of that.

Overall I came down on the side of liking Fury of Seduction, I enjoyed the dragonshifter romance and liked both the leads, there is some interesting setup in the background for the next three books. Where I had problems is with the bad guys, they are just so black, and their depravity and rapacious mind sets adds a yuck factor to the books which is made worse by thread switches breaking into the middle of up close and personal scenes with the leads.

And an issue that I have with the series but one that I can set aside once I get into the story - is there is still the BDB speak (f-bombs, brandnames as nouns...) so the series is still the love child of BDB and Cooke's dragonshifting Pyre fosters by Adrian's Breeds. So a bit mixed for me but since the price has been right on the series, I'll likely read the next one with Venom in the lead and hope that the secret guy love overtones (ala Quinn and Blay) don't come to fruition, despite the fact that sample doesn't have a glimpse of a leading lady.

I have both the paper ARC I got through the Vine and the kindle version that I had forgotten that I'd preordered for this one - free was nice but the kindle version fit my life better at the moment, so I didn't return the extra.

It's hard for me to rate and review this book because I have mixed feelings about it. Love Mac and the rest of the Nightfury gang and want to know how this all ends but I feel like it's getting a bit redundant. The same Dragon meets girl story from the first two books. The variations between the couples isn't distinct or varied enough. Will give the next one a shot but the repeated vocabulary, no matter whose point of view, is getting tiresome - everyone should think and speak differently, at least a little. Pretty hot love scenes in this one though :)

Have you ever come across a series that has all the elements it needs to make it a favourite but somehow it never quite hits the mark? That's kind of how I'm feeling about the Dragonfury books right now. These books have so much potential but each book leaves me feeling like I'm missing out on something. I was willing to forgive the similarities between this series and the Black Dagger Brotherhood and Midnight Breed series during the first book, I even forgave them in the second book but I keep hoping that the author will branch out and start adding her own unique voice to the world she is creating and it hasn't happened yet. Yet again this book is full of similarities to the BDB & MB series and it didn't even stand out as particularly different from the previous books. It seems like the author has found a formula she likes and is determined to stick with it and I'm getting to the point where I'm not sure if I should continue reading.

What I did like about this instalment is that we are starting to find out more about the Dragonkind race as a whole but we now have so many different enemies and plot lines going on that it took away from the romance between Mac and Tania. I really would have liked at least one of the sidelines to be resolved but I've just been left with a load of questions. I'm thinking that it would be helpful for them to start finding their high energy mates from a different area though - surely if they're trying to stay under the radar the number of disappearances (not to mention the fact that all of the women can be linked to each other!) is just going to raise suspicion. Another thing that really bothered me was the way the points of view would change mid-scene, I know this is a trick often used to raise tension but there are good and bad ways of doing this. At one point Mac and Tania are finally about to get down to business and halfway through the deed the point of view jumps to one of the bad guys and we get to see him attend an orgy. Is it any wonder I don't feel invested in Mac and Tania's relationship?

I really liked Mac in the earlier books, if you put the fact that he was a no nonsense cop who suddenly discovers he is half dragon while investigating a woman's disappearance (remind anyone of Butch from the BDB?) to one side and you have a nice guy who is learning how to fit into a world that is very different to the one he thought he knew. He is struggling to learn to control his dragon abilities, something that isn't helped by the fact that he is the only water dragon and the others have no idea what he should be capable of, but he really comes into his own when Tania is in trouble. I have to admit that while his methods of protecting her worked they also succeeded in scaring the living daylights out of her - if Mac had done the same to me I'd never have forgiven him because it would have taken me months to get over the trauma! I did enjoy seeing what he was capable of though and I'm curious to see what other dragon abilities are going to pop up as the series continues. I'm afraid I didn't end up being a huge fan of Tania though, she obviously cares a lot about her sister but I never really felt like I got to know her as a person and I couldn't really see why Mac felt they were so perfect for each other. I hate to use the term "too stupid to live" and it's something that you'll hardly ever find in any of my reviews but in this case it fits Tania perfectly. I could have forgiven her for putting herself and everyone else at risk to run to her sister if she hadn't immediately forgotten all about her sister the minute Mac had rescued her from the situation she ended up in.

I've made a lot of complaints about this book but it wasn't all bad, I still think the whole series has a lot of potential and I'm really, really hoping that the next book lives up to that. Each book so far has been a relatively quick and pleasant read even if it wasn't completely original. I like the camaraderie between the Nightfury warriors and I do want to see more of them find their mates (I'm particularly interested in Forge and Venom after this book), I'm even curious to see how they are going to stop Ivar. My favourite book so far was definitely the second one, Fury of Ice, so I'm hoping that the next book gets back to that standard. One thing I will say for Coreene Callahan is that she can write a good action scene, especially the aerial battles where the Nightfuries are fighting the Razorbacks which she makes incredibly easy to picture.

Everything is happening so fast for Mac, one minute he is just a regular detective livening a unfulfilling but normal life then bam a new reality smacks him in the face. Not only are dragons real but he himself is half dragon kind.

After surviving his change Mac seams to still have a few issues controlling his dragon half. But when his woman is in trouble suddenly he no longer lives up to his fledgling title. Mac finds himself falling for the beautiful Tania, and would do anything to protect her.

Even though she should be pissed or freaked Tania finds her feelings for Mac are more sexual and heartfelt. She seems to be growing attached to this man who kidnapped her.

The night fury pack is loaded with sexy alpha males. Each one with their own background story. Well Mac is no different. He may be new to the pack but he make sure to pull his weight and insure he belongs. The automatic attraction between Mac and Tania is explosive. You can help but get sucked into their love and be warmed by it.

The first few books in The series were very similar to JR Wards Black Dagger Brotherhood, but as the series goes on you find that's all it is, is some similarities, the stories are their own and different enough from the BDB that it you no longer feel like they are similar at all.

If you like JR Wards quick east coast humor then you will enjoy the Night Fury’s .

Fury of Seduction (Dragonfury Series #3)

If you like the style of the works of J. R. Ward, then you might love much of this book. If you liked the first two novels of this series, then you will most likely find this an engaging read. "Fury of Seduction" is written so closely to J R. Ward's STYLE that I almost immediately disliked this novel from the start. Had I know of the similarities I would have not chosen to read this novel. The Dragons speak with the same sort of slang that are in the `other' series, the men are just as dark and broody as the `other' series, the women are as different as the other series and the fact that there is one paragraph of dialogue to 3 pages of inner-dialoguing and angst is just down-right annoying.

However, I stuck it out and while it could have been a good novel and even one that I was able to read as a stand-alone, it did not flow as well as it could have, the plot is annoyingly stereotypical of so many speculative fiction novels. There are 2 different factions of dragons - good guys and bad-guys, the total annihilation of the human race is at stake (although I do have to admit I could almost agree with the author about WHY the humans need to be eliminated!). There was way more to this novel than romance, the romance actually seems to take back-seat to the rest of the plot(s) and this is another problem - there are too many sub-plots going on. This is an issue with JR Ward's novels lately also; this book was less a romance NOVEL than a series of short to medium length stories.

4hrs left in this audiobook......

Seriously, can we just rename this series Black Dragon Furyhood and call it a day? This author is working my last nerve with the shitkickers, leathers, whatever the servants are called, and plethora of other similarities "borrowed" for this series.

WAY too much internal dialog, too many tangents, Who the hell is Niall and where did he come from, WAY too many side stories, and WAY WAY too much internal dialog.

The whole "luke i am your father" was a bit much

story - 1.5
narrator 1.75

the narrators voice wasn't bad, it was actually very nice, but his accents SUCKED and the voice he gave Venom just made him sound like a total creeper.

Honestly, I like Mac and Tania as a couple: a tough ex-SEAL turned homicide detective turned fledgling dragon, and a brilliant landscape architect with a determined heart. They were pretty much a love at first sight match, with a bit of poor communication to stir things up a bit. I love the fact that Mac has some very special magic, being the only water dragon.

As this is Book 3 in the series, my earlier frustrations with the writing style are harder to ignore. Once again, the many characters’ (Mac, Tania, Ivar, Venom, JJ, Nian - all of them) inner thoughts seem to drone on and on and eat up all the page time. Sometimes they actually say a short sentence to one another, followed by a long stretch of “thinking” in between. They all do so much thinking but not enough useful talking. For example, when Mac first rescues Tania from attacking Razorbacks, he hides her in a giant air bubble underwater. She is so distraught that she injured herself trying to escape. Mac eventually mindspeaks with her to calm her down, but there is so much more he could say to get her to understand the danger outside and how he is trying to protect her.

The metaphor with the underwater bubble is so apt. I felt just like Tania; trapped inside the characters’ heads trying to scrape my way out. Too much monologuing. Not enough dialoguing.

I admit I skimmed through a lot of the middle chapters. And still the book felt long. Just when I felt like forgiving the characters for their prior obtuseness, another boneheaded example of bad communication and bad judgment puts one of them at risk. For all the mind numbing passages of internal rumination I have had to endure, watching someone thought-justify their stupidity is the most painful of all. I feel that I am only told that Tanya is tough, but I am shown that she is stupid. And her stupidity extends to her not considering, even at the end, that she’s put a Razorback target on her sister JJ. It’s frustrating, but I still want to know what happens next!

Finally!! I have been able to sit down and enjoy this book. Let me tell you it has been an extremely difficult week. I had this book on my kindle and needed to finish other things.. as this is not in my reading nature, seeing this book sitting there and teasing me was not fun.. but oh was it worth it!

Coreene Callahan strikes hard and fast in the third installment of her DragonFury Series.. The world is opening up and there is just so much going on, total reader stimulation. This was one of those books where the story arc carries the book rather than the lead couple. While I tend to get irked about this in this case Ms Callahan did a brilliant job. Maybe because she did it earlier in the series or maybe because she used characters that we had not completely bonded with yet.. who knows? Yes Mac and Tania's story was intermixed with some serious plot twists and turns, Coreene still managed to make them steam...

Mac, tall, built and serious attitude! As a cop, as a man he was determined to serve, years as a Navy Seal led him to years on the Seattle Police Force but as good as he was at serving justice he didn't quite get the whole people and relationships thing. Until Angela, he was never able to stay with a partner. He was too tough, too rough, too everything.. As for women, he loves em, all of them. Where some have a women in every port.. Our Mac, well he had a flavor of the moment.. When Angela went missing, his sister of the heart, his partner and yes the only woman he took seriously, he was almost destroyed. But an instant in time, a moment shared space with a Dragon and his Dragon DNA was unleashed and Mac starts to find out just a bit more about himself than he was even remotely aware of. This we discover in Fury of Fire and Fury of Ice, the first two books of the Dragonfury series.. What we discover about Mac in Fury of Seduction.. well let's just say Mac Smolders.. Total and complete swoon room material.

Tania Solares is a complicated woman. Years of male abandonment and misuse, she doesn't trust men. She is smart, sexy, loyal and determined.. what a package.. Oh yeah and she is a High Energy (H-E) Female. So that puts her in line for some serious trouble. Since the disappearance of Myst, her best friend, she has been actively searching. Determined to find her, refusing to believe she is dead. Tania had relied on the SPD.. only problem is, the Detectives on the case were Mac and Angela and they too have disappeared.. Leaving Tania desperate.. Add to this the fact that her sister (the sister Tania all but raised) is in prison for manslaughter, Tania is at wits end.

When Mac and Tania meet, let's just say fireworks ensued! These two are combustible (pretty nifty for a Water Dragon). Ms Callahan does a wonderful job at sharing bits and pieces of their relationship with us. Sure she could have made this the focal part of the book, but in a way letting it slip to a secondary aspect made it steamier. Tania is a driven woman who controls everything and Mac well let's just say he demands control sexually. *grins* Watching these two commitment phobes slide into love was fabulous.

Remember when I mentioned the Archguard in my review of Fury of Ice? Remember when I said they were up to something sneaky? That there was way more to them than we thought.. Let's just say.. I was right and leave it at that! Anything else would be huge spoilers. We do spend a moment with those who are at the "Archguard Games". We get to meet Gage and Haider, the missing Dragonfury pack members and they most definitely belong. There is a scene I am already envisioning when Gage returns and meets Tania.. *grins* that should be fun.

One of the best things about Ms Callahan's writing is the fact that even though Ivar is evil and I believe totally nonredeemable.. we feel for him. We see him grieve and there were times when I just wanted to comfort him. I don't like Ivar, we aren't supposed to be we see a man/dragon that wants what he thinks is best for his people. This is a true talent!

We also learn a bit and I mean a teeny tiny bit about waterdragons.. I have some questions, some things I want to discuss about Mac and his lineage but for now I will refrain as they include spoilers but I am intrigued. This book left me with so many questions.. So many threads dangling, teasing me, leaving me almost salivating for the next book, Fury of Desire, which I believe comes out in the Spring and will be Wick's book. Now that is gonna be interesting.

When a book grabs me as much as this one did, I tend to loose my ability to review.. I get lost in the superlatives and sometimes forget why I am reviewing. I am sorry if this happened but this book was fabulous.. absolutely and totally fabulous! A must read.. but don't read it as book one.. it is definitely a transition type of book.. connecting us with old favorites and yet introducing some exciting new characters.. Watching all of Ms Callahan's plot lines begin to intersect is a total and complete delight

I love this series. I absolutely love it.
And I think that the reason I love it so much can be summed up by this: The characters aren't stupid. They are smart (in fact High Energy females are characterized by being smart and successful).

So, this is Mac's story. I would have preferred that Mac being a fledgling have to wait a little while for his story, but Tania really did need to come into the fold of the Nightfuries, so I'll extremely graciously let it go.

So Tania goes to the prison her sister is in after killing her douche ex-boyfriend who threatened both Tania and her life. So instantly we have a winner there. JJ has sorted her life out while in jail and I admire her as both a potential future mate and as some who has made a mistake but is genuinely trying to turn things around.

Ivar the Razorback's scientist/team leader against the Razor-backs, is really grieving Lothair's death, which is oddly endearing. Except he's decided he wants to capture Tania and use her as bait and one of his "breeding-females" so that's evil and no.

Mac saves Tania, as he's energy fused with her. Which freaks him out as he doesn't remember the transformation where he needed energy to get through alive.

There's a pretty good explanation of how Mac didn't transform before and why he actually needed the Meridian energy to succeed.

Tania is actually really reasonable about both Dragons and Mac's energy-fusing her and I liked that we saw her come to the realisation of Mac=this giant dragon carrying me around. I also like the way she reconciled her initial thought of evil dragon and Mac who is a genuinely good guy.

I didn't like that she left to see JJ in the hospital when Sloane told her it was a bad idea and to wait for Mac. But in fairness, she realises it was dumb and apologises to everyone. I would have liked more letting her know she was wrong, but if one of my little sisters got injured I would have done the same thing, damn the consequences.

There's also a subplot with Nian, who's father killed Bastien's to take over the Arch-council. He is a actually a decent guy absolutely disgusted by the pervasive nature of the disrespect of humans, women in particular and a pretty awful treatment of some young Dragonkind boys. But he is actually a very power-hungry ambitious person which will be interesting to learn more about in the future, especially if .

Also, I don't know if I mentioned in the my Fury of Ice review, but if I did I'll say it again. I love that the high-energy women or potential mates congregate together because of their specialness. It's not 100% explained but there's enough mentioned that you know there is a reason they gravitate toward one another.

The next book, Fury of Desire appears to be about Venom. EXCITED!!!

Mac has recently joined the Dragonfury's. He has just discovered that he is a shifter dragon, and a water dragon which is rare. Mac always knew that there was something more for his life than he ever thought possible. Now though, he is a newbie, and as such his pack is not letting him fight which is what he is aching to do. He craves a good fight but then he discovers that he has a mate and one that is in danger of being captured by the Razorbacks. Tania, is determined to save her sister, who is in prison for killing her boyfriend who planned on killing them both. After returning from seeing her, she finds her car thrown off a cliff, and she is put in a air bubble in the middle of the ocean. Tania would love to kill Mac when she gets her hands on him. But after saving her from the Razorbacks he takes her to their lair, and Tania is thrown into a world of danger and passion and the most tender love she has ever known.

Fury of Seduction is the third in the series, and I was able to get a hold of this one through Audible. I have really enjoyed listening to this series, and the Narrator does a great job in his inflections and portraying the story in a very real and genuine way. I do love the concept of a water dragon, and boy does he have some neat tricks up his sleeve. Even though he is new at being part of the Dragonfury's, you see that he catches on super quickly, even so fast that it surprises his fellow brothers. I just adored Mac from the beginning, he is tough as nails and delicious enough to lick all over. He has power and has the tendency to be creative and he sets the stage for the story. Mac is aggressive and dominating at times, and even though there is a light level of bdsm elements involved in the story, its not too strong at all, and I started to enjoy that aspect. Tania is a tough heroine, she is willing to stand up to Mac and do what is right and I enjoyed seeing the varying depths of her personality that I felt matched up with Mac's perfectly. The story line is intense and thick with danger and suspense and is never ending with tension and what a powerful love story this author delivers!!!

Dragon shifters! Love 'em in both human and dragon form! Face it, we all know they are HOT! Coreene Callahan's dragons definitely fit the bill!

Mac is a newly turned, very rare water dragon who meets his emotional match in Tania, one of those rare human females with a special energy that dragons need. The Razorbacks, an evil clan of dragons wants Tania for her ability to breed and her usefulness as a 'dragon plaything'...yuck.

While Mac and Tania try to avoid admitting they are more than physically attracted to each other, the Razorbacks are planning their evil plots to take the Mac and his clan down. They will stop at nothing in their efforts to destroy anything and anyone who gets in their way.

The appearances by characters from the two previous books fell into place perfectly and the Nightfury dragons are a loyal and tight group, even to the point of admitting when they are wrong about someone! (Read the book, you'll know what I mean!)

As a couple, Mac and Tania fit together well, there wasn't any truly 'duh' moments where I wanted to lock them in a room and tell them to communicate!

I did like the banter between characters, but sometimes it was a little over the top for adults and the 'spicy' scenes went on a page or two too long. Other than that, I love these dragons!

This was close enough to 3 stars I figure what the heck, I'll give it the solid number. The main reason for that is because the story is finally expanding out. The writing didn't change much this time, but I think we're finally getting less and less "slow your roll" going on. Finally. Unfortunately, Tania seems to have this aversion to swearing so she says ridiculously immature things instead. Like, I just want to bang her head against a wall they're so bad. Like the other two books, the middle of this one had pretty much nothing happen. Is this going to be a pattern? Also, does every character have to be so goddamn perfect at everything in the world?

From the first two books, I thought I would like Tania more than I did. And there's a reason for that. We're constantly told how smart she is (because she's got brains behind that beauty of course!), but she does some things that maybe kind of made me ask my kindle if she was fucking stupid. Three things in particular. When Mac puts her into an air bubble under water to protect her from Ivar, she beats the bubble trying to get out until her hands and nails are bloody and broken. Now, she does this even though she believes she's miles under surface. So what the fuck was your plan if you managed to get out!? Drown? Die from the pressure? I mean, seriously. I get you're freaking out, but how in the world was that supposed to end better? Next is after she finally meets back up with Myst. When Myst goes down and almost passes out, she tells Tania to get Bastian. She specifically tells her this. Does she? NO. Because why the hell would you call for Myst's mate (like you were fucking told to) when you can call for Mac who will have no idea what the hell is going on let alone what to do about it. Really?? Lastly, toward the end Tania decides to lie and run away to get to her sister. She thinks that because none of the Razorbacks have fed from her it'll be a-okay and they won't be able to track her. What freaking year are you living in?! There's this thing called the internet, GPS, and Razorbacks that monitor everything. You were screwed the second you made a phone call you idiot!

I was looking forward to getting more of Mac, but honestly I was a little let down by him. He's really trying hard to fit into his new family, has embraced everything of his new life, and wants nothing more than prove himself as more than a fledgling. But when the hell is one of these guys going to be punished for going off on their own? There's a chain of command for a reason people. For claiming to be a dom, he sure wasn't very dominating at all either. I was also hoping to get a good explanation of his new tattoo. What we got was super vague to the point I'm not sure it was a reason at all. On the plus side we may or may not have found out who his father is though.

We're still not told why Tania wasn't at her apartment when Lothair came calling in the last book, but we join her on her way to visit her sister in prison. That comes with good and bad and it's the bad that follows. Lucky for her the Nightfuries know that she has a big target on her and they take care of one issue easy enough. The bigger one comes when Ivar shows up to take her. We do learn for sure just how outnumbered the Nightfuies are at 10 to 1 here. But they're no doubt the better clan as they fight another ambush from the Razorbacks. Not all of them make out of that fight completely okay though. When daylight comes, they scatter to lose their enemy and make it home. But for Mac, he instead takes Tania to his private island. There's a lot of talking between those two and soon enough more. They each fall for the other in a matter of days (surprise surprise) but it's Mac that has the hardest time coming to grips with his feelings for her because he has never been the settle down type. He's enjoyed his life of love 'em and leave 'em and can't imagine a commitment like forever. But that's what he thinks he wants with Tania. When something happens to Tania's sister in prison, like I mentioned, Tania runs off and makes herself a easy target. There's more fighting but Mac lets his enemy escape in order to rush to Tania's side when the dumb ass needs him after getting in a car wreck then attacked by the bad guys. And it's all I love yous and we're going to be together forever.

While that's all going on we join Gage and Haider in Prague a couple times. I am so looking forward to learning more about these two. While they're there, they're approached by Nian. A member of the ruling council. He's a hard one to figure out. The majority of the time he seems like a good guy that wants to do something about all the horrible things going on, and beats himself up about it when he can't. But then little things come out about his ambitions that make you wonder when his real end game is. He'll be one to watch for sure. He has approached these two because he wants them to take a message to Bastian. He will provide them with inside information that they'd never get otherwise in exchange for them fighting on his side when he wants it. It'll be interesting to see what comes of this when Bastian makes his decision.

Other important things happen here too. Bastian and Myst complete the ritual required for them to share energy without having to touch, have Myst survive the pregnancy, and live as long as Bastian. I thought it was kind of neat what happened, but I'm not sure Bastian agrees just going by his expression at one point. Shockingly, Ivar is mourning Lothair's death. That surprises himself the most I think. Sure he's not happy about having to actually step up and lead his clan, meaning a lot less time in his lab, but he actually hurts thinking about Lothair. Needless to say, his experiments are not going well. But he has managed to get a powerful dragon on his side now.

I'm currently loving Wick's personality, so I'm desperately hoping that with his book next he does not also turn into a sappy love struck wuss like these guys have. Guess I'll find out.

This is Mac and Tania's story as they carry on with what they started in Rikar's book. Just like book 2, this book delves a little bit deeper into the Dragonkind world but without overloading you with details.

Mac is just the star of the show in my eyes - the whole book just confirms what a complex but intriguing character he is. Tania is the perfect female for him as she is not straightforward either. They both have history that they need to deal with before they can be together so the question is will they actually be able to put everything behind them and trust each other?

We also get a show from 'old' favourites, Myst and Bastian, as they have their Dragonkind Wedding but we are also introduced to a couple of new characters. One which I hope to read more about is Tania's sister, J.J. I am really hoping she will star in a book of her own.

This series just keeps on getting better and I am really enjoying them. My one gripe remains the same - they end just too quickly.

Based on the audiobook...

A story that suffered due to the narrator in my opinion. I don't know if the narrator was trying to do a Jersey accent or what. You know he was struggling when I couldn't tell when the conversation went from the Hero to the Heroine. I think I would have enjoyed reading this book more. I liked the first two books with the narration - I'm just going to assume that the narrator had an "off" book.

I like the story that is being built, however as soon as I saw a reviewer compare the dialogue to J R Ward's BDB series, I ended up focusing on that. I wish I didn't read that as the comparison didn't hit me immediately, even though I'm sure it would have, like ignoring that large pink elephant in the room.

I look forward to continuing in the series just to see where it is going. I can see this series jumping the shark if Ms. Callahan isn't careful. I've got high hopes it does not. I know Venom's story is next, but I can't wait for Forge. He's my fav!

This one gets 2.5 stars for having a slight twist on the formula derived from the first two books - but it is only slight and the book very quickly seems to sound like either of the first two.

I'm still finding the branding really irritating, usually by this point I can let it go or not notice it, but if anything it seems to be getting worse (or maybe I've reached saturation level for hearing about that particular brand of boot??? Does the author have shares in the company?). Same goes for the hard language, I'm not against swear words, but they have to be contextually useful, and I find the repetition of swear words in romance scenes very disturbing.

Only one more book left from my splurge purchase of 4 books, and then I can leave this series to others who appreciate it more. Personally I won't be going further into the series; but at least I can say I've given it a fair go.

I really don't know why I'm sticking with this series. Oh, wait, yes I do. I'm waiting for Wick's story. There's really no plot, nor is there any character development. It's instalove. Which if it's done right, I can tolerate, even enjoy. If it's done like.... this *gestures wildly at book* It makes me cry and want to throw my kindle to the ground and curse Amazon for putting it on the asleep cover (y'all know what I mean right?)

Also, if the dragons can't be around during the day, why the hell can't the women go off on their own and then their mates come and pick them up when it gets dark? Secondly, why can't they have phones or email? I mean really, Callahan. Look at your life, look at your choices.

The third book in the Dragonfury series was the hardest for me to get into. For one thing, I skipped over it to get to Wick's story, and after that story left me wanting, I had to work very hard to pick this one up.

Mac is the Butch of the Dragonfury crew. If you don't know who Butch is (from the Black Dagger Brotherhood), then you will likely enjoy this story and have little problem reading and enjoying. Mac is new to being a dragon and he is new to the Dragonfury clan. Originally, he was the cop on a case that involved the clan, but as things progressed, Mac came upon the knowledge that he was a rare Water dragon and he came into contact with Tania, his mate.

The story wouldve been better had it's language not been so vulgar. It was the worst offensive swearing I've ever read in a book abusing poor Jesus Christ's name! it bordered on blasphemy! Lol It really did ruin the book and interest I had in the series. It took much of the attention off the story and was overwrought with catch phrases. Usually redundant ones. I'm through with this series. A waste of a perfectly lovely dragon story!

I've heard some say this series is like Black Dagger Brotherhood, Dragon-style. I'd agree in that it's just as well-written but Callahan's dragons definitely have their own unique style. Still, anyone who likes one will surely like the other.

The series is a good one. However I have to agree with other reviewers. This series is to much like the Black Dagger brother hood right down to some of the same wording. The author needs an original idea.

2.50 - 2 Stars

I really wanted to like this one. Infact, I like the story line as a whole, and Mac's character. However the inner dialog drove me nuts. I did a lot of page flipping just to get to dialog between the characters.

I am reading this series for the plot... I have trouble getting past the writing though, the overly descriptive inner monologues and the weird way all the guys speak, like they are 12 and trying to be cool. The world building, though, is pretty impressive.

This entire book was a waste of time. "Strong independent woman" my foot. Useless woman gave up her entire life without any qualm because she loves a guy she just met. No character development. Just the same repeating theme throughout the entire book.
