We went out to dinner with friends last night and had a great time. Today went to a movie and to dinner with a dear friend who lost her husband back in June. It was kind of weird because Sam was always with us before. Moving forward without him has been hard for us all but Kathy is still missing him very much. We did have a very good time and if you haven't seen the movie Into The Woods with Robert Redford and Nick Nolte, I recommend it, especially for the older crowd who will get the humor better. Had some really funny parts where I was laughing so hard I seriously was almost crying.

I've got back to the 1700's on my Paternal side. Trouble is I was up until 2a.m. today UK time. Anyone else interested in genealogy?
Many members of my family are into geneology. It's always interesting to know about our ancestors and heritage. I got into geneology to track my Dad's family. My Aunt had already tracked my Mom's back to the 1600s. The last couple years we have looked closer into our findings, specifically looking for causes of death and ages. My girls have several genetic heart disorders and I am trying to find the start or connection if any to my side of the gene pool. Very interesting work.Sincerely Yours,

Oh stop it Lola. You are making me hungry and a little jealous. My family is from Arkansas and I have so many memories of meals straight from garden. No one even cared if there was meat on the table the bounty was so wonderful.
I remember visiting my grandmother one Fall and having vegetable soup she had canned. Oh my goodness! It was a little bit of heaven in a bowl. Everything was picked from her garden and canned fresh, it was so awesome I can taste it now. I hope someday to have a garden and create those memories for my family..
That day will come, I know it will. Hebrews 11:1 Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
I have faith.
Have a great day everyone. Peace be with you.
Linda M.
Jina,I hope you had a wonderful trip. You need time away, even if it is just for a few hours, to renew your spirit and strengthen you to keep going. I hope Sarah is doing better. I will keep you all in my prayers.
As for me, this is my only day off till Saturday so I am going to take advantage of it and rest. I have Trigger Finger again (you can Google it) and I have to rest my hand frequently. I took off the brace last night (I know, I'm a bad girl) and I am taking it easy. I will put it back on tomorrow when I go back to work. Minor surgery is in the not too distant future and all will be well. I have had this before on another finger and it isn't too bad. It healed quickly. I have worked in the same store for 13 years and my customers are so sweet. They want to know what happened and show they care, but, I am tired of telling the story multiple times a day.lol I will be glad to have the surgery over with.
I hope you all have a very blessed day.Peace be with you.

There's nothing better than "garden fresh" vegetables. I remember as a kid sitting in the middle of the garden, snapping the pea pods off the bush and popping the fresh peas right into my mouth right there in the garden. We were so lucky to have such a large garden when we lived on the farm. My mom canned all she could, including tomato sauce and jellies and syrup. We also had fresh seasonings like dill, parsley, basil and horseradish.
On another note, I am so glad that you posted that quote from Hebrews. That is one of the reasons why my youngest daughters middle name is Faith. :)
Sincerely Yours,
Jina

Dear Linda,
Thank you for the prayers and support. It means so much. Trigger finger is painful, I hope surgery is a success and recovery is quick. Until surgery there are several topical ointments that may help. One you can request from your Dr is "Voltaren" gel, its a wonderful gel that actually has a decent smell. It doesnt get hot but you would feel better in 20 minutes. Another one that is over the counter is "Two Old Goats", it is a cream in a royal blue bottle. The smell isnt horrible but it is strong. The relief lasts for hours. The cost of Two Old Goats is $6 for a 4 ounce bottle. A little goes a long way. I have a torn rotator cup and torn bicep tendon. I use either one of those and within 30 minutes I am feeling some relief. Stopain spray from Walmart is also good but it can get warm and has a strong menthol smell. Get some rest. I will be praying for you.
Sincerely Yours,
Jina

I am mostly vegetarian, can't seem to give up bacon. Hubby is a carnivore. Nothing better than a fresh BLT ,I grow brandywine tomatoes just for that.
I use Traumeel gel and pills when I have any muscle aches, no smell. They are from Germany and you can order them from Amazon. And work wonders on my elbow.

Thanks for the advice Jina. My doctor gave me a pill form of Voltaren to take twice a day. I will have to ask if the topical version is acceptable. I have never heard of "2 old goats" not in a cream form anyway.lol I will have to see if I can find it here. I do appreciate your prayers. Life has been difficult lately but I refuse to give in to the negative thoughts or feelings. Things can only get me down if I allow them to.
Have a wonderful, blessed Day,

It's not playing in our town - it's in an indie theatre about 45 miles away - so we are going to make a special trip to see it later this week.

Wow, Lesley - I'm fascinated by it, but have met nothing but dead ends, except to find out that my paternal family name originated in Cornwall. Sadly, history wasn't important to our family. I haven't given up, but I know it's going to take hours upon hours of research - hours I can't find at the moment. What you've done is very exciting!

I've really enjoyed reading your comments, ladies. I took today "off" for a day trip with my husband, who has to go back to a very long stretch of hospital shifts starting tomorrow morning at 6:45. We are having one last evening of relaxation before it all turns to chaos again!
I hope you all have a good week, whatever it brings. "See" you tomorrow!

That's a good point, Lesley. To some extent, it's certainly important, since people have been known to steal the identities of the long-deceased and set up credit accounts. In our case, they would regret it...I often joke that we were kicked out of England, we didn't leave on our own back in the 18th century...I come from a long line of colorful characters, and that only goes back about 150 years. LOL.

Actually my cousin - named after my father, Paul - is the inspiration for the storyline itself. It's totally fictionalized, but at the very root of the plot, Paul's story is the inspiration. Unfortunately, it's a tragedy of the worst kind.
That being said, some of the other characters will be like my spicy aunt Mary and my two grandmothers - they were colorful personalities indeed - very strong women. And that's where the humor will come from -- to lighten the darkness, so to speak. My heroine is full of - as my grandmother used to say, "spit and vinegar"... gotta love those southern ladies.

So, here we go again! Tomorrow, someone will earn their Angel Wings from Emily! And we start talking about Dreamweaver Trail. Where does the time go?
Now - I need to select another question for this book giveaway. Any thoughts, ladies??
Now - I need to select another question for this book giveaway. Any thoughts, ladies??
Paula I am not a creative person, however I think the question could be geared to creativity since in Dreamweaver Trail Gabi finds her happiness and future in a creative way. I have to say I have read all the books in this series and I remember parts of this but I don't remember all of it. Can't wait to retread it.
You all know I live near a very small town , but we have a glass shop and they blow glass every weekday. I am ashamed to say I have never been in there. But after reading Dreamweaver Trail I am going to make either my Hubby or Daughter to take me there. One of the problems with not driving, always relaying on others. This book was so different from all the others with a lot of it happening away from Eternity Springs. And so many nail biting parts. And the puppy, what a great dog!
Maggie came to life in the story too, gotta love an old broad getting her groove back!
Lola I love blown glass and use to collect small pieces when I was young. Someone knocked my shelf down that was holding them and broke most of it but A few survived. It was always so interesting to see how they made them. If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend. I had not thought of collecting them when I was young in a long time, not even when I read it the first time. That is curious to me.
Kay (KK) wrote: "Time goes by too fast Paula. Christmas will be here before you know it."
The sound you just heard is the high-pitched scream I emit when I run across the first Christmas decorations I see in Costco...usually around this time of year. Immediate panic ensues as I swear that THIS is the year I'm going to channel Martha Stewart. The next sound you hear will be Ray laughing hysterically at the very thought of me trying to do that. That would make Martha Stewart do a bat dance.

I'm really excited about what I've read so far. I fear the nail-biting parts because my tension level is off the charts this week...lots of stuff going on in my work world. But that's the great thing - I can lose myself in someone else's angst instead of my own. ;-)

My daughter went to art school, and loved creating things with art glass. I also love glass you find on the beach after it's been polished by the waves and the sand. There is a place in Fort Bragg, CA called "glass beach" where at one time there was a bottling enterprise. I have found some beautiful pieces there, and art glass has become a big draw in Fort Bragg, with several galleries. I know I'm going to love it when Gabi finds her niche.

Never say never. I can cook up a storm, and I absolutely love it, but we have a 30 year old built-in double oven that is so small you can't fit a normal size turkey in there. And the thermostat and fans are iffy. We can't afford to tear out the entire area of the kitchen to replace them. So now I pray and cook at the same time, stand guard over the oven, play with the temp dial, and hope for the best. Not a big confidence builder.
I used to get Martha's magazine - she had a monthly calendar that she kept that was so organized - things like "prune this" - "sort that" - "plant this" -- I felt so disorganized and inadequate I canceled my subscription to get away from that sense of failure! LOL.

I negotiate with spiders in the shower. There is an invisible line for small spiders - as long as they stay where they are we can co-exist. Big Spiders get the entire shower to themselves until Ray comes home to dispose of them properly. LOL.

Hi all,Now I or really my Brother are in the need of your prayers . Dave just found out he has Bladder Cancer, they are going to operate on Tuesday. He is the sweetest Brother you could ask for, he is 3 years younger than me. And lives in Texas, I told him I would fly down but he said with my Sisters there he had enough women wringing their hands. We lost our oldest Sister to cancer , so it is scary. Wolf ,my Hubby, had cancer of the appendix and is now 5 years cancer free. So He had a long talk with Dave , making jokes , he said that was what got him through , keeping his sense of humor.
Paula , I have a electric roaster oven. I love using it this time of year because it doesn't heat up the kitchen. In fact I have a mesquite seasoned chicken roasting in there right now. It is big enough for a huge turkey and not too expensive, mine was under $50.00. I have a bedroom that I turned into a pantry room with bookshelves for all my Costco supplies . I put a long table in there for my roaster oven ,slow cooker, etc.

Take care of yourself too. Please keep us all posted on the surgery, prognosis and how everything is going. Sending you and your lots of hugs and prayers. If you need to talk, I am here for you.

Lola, I am so sorry to hear about this crisis in your family, and you will be in my thoughts & prayers - please keep us posted on his progress.
I also have to say you are very resourceful! We left our mini-oven in Virginia for our daughter to use after we moved, and I miss it. My old-fashioned two-hole toaster will NOT fit a chicken, and my regular oven won't fit a turkey!!!
A sense of humor and hope is a cornerstone of recovering from anything - keep him laughing, and keep him encouraged. Take care of yourself as you care for others, too.

Yes we get her out as often as we can. She has to be careful though because she cant be in the sun long. She is on medication that makes her very sensitive to sunlight and she burns easily. Also the rods in her eyes were damaged from the anoxic brain damage from her cardiac arrest so her pupils are very large and she can burn her eyes easily so we have prescription tinted glasses for her. She loves getting outside though. We try to get her out in the mornings and evenings. She sees the horses at least once a month. Her sister, Sarah, works on that horse ranch. I'm glad you like the pictures.
Sincerely Yours,
Jina
Thank you all for your prayers and encouraging words , thankfully cancer is not the death sentence it once was. I will definitely keep you all informed. You are a wonderful group of friends and I am grateful to know you all! KK I pray your Brother has a swift recovery! And follows in Wolfs footsteps and is cancer free!Jina I agree great photos, still don't like the snake though lol. They tried me on a lot of different meds for my epilepsy ,none worked , but they made me sensitive to light too. For the longest time if I went outside with out my whole body covered I would get a rash and I have brown spots , I still get the rash if I am out too long.
