message 2: by Michael (new)

Michael Brookes (technohippy) One of my favourite King novels.

Mixofsunandcloud | 538 comments I'm going to try picking it up again. I don't remember why I stopped reading it, I think I just got distracted by something shiny. I don't think I'll start over though. It hasn't been that long, and I don't really want to re-read all the parts talking about their current lives.

Same here, but I don't think I'll have time to read it again this summer - too many reading promises to be fulfilled. I'll probably lurk during the discussion though.

Myst | 408 comments My brother forgot to bring his copy last time we met up so I'll need to get a library copy for the time being. Trying to finish up a different book before I head to the library tomorrow.

Edit:
Just checked, my library's copies are all 2+ years overdue...doh!

That's always such a big question with chunky books that people abandon or forget to finish, do I start over? Choices choices lol.. I would.

message 7: by Scott (new)

Scott | -214 comments This is my favorite book. I have read it three times.

message 8: by [deleted user] (new)

On my Kindle and ready to go.

Char | 17469 comments Scott wrote: "This is my favorite book. I have read it three times."

3 times for me too, I believe. :)

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) | 958 comments I re-read it last year so too soon for a re-read for me. But I will keep an eye on this thread as I'm - as always - interested in discussion on it.

Joanne Moyer (catwoman56) | 81 comments both IT and Summer of Night are on my reread list for this year so maybe this is the time to get to them

Then it's perfect timing, Joanne! :)
I'm thinking of re-reading Summer of Night, since I've only read that one once and it was decades ago. I'm moving this month, though, so I'm not sure I can make the time.

message 13: by K (new)

K IT is my favourite book of all time, looking forward to another re-read :)

message 14: by Kyle (new)

Kyle | 10 comments "IT" was my very first Stephen King novel I read when I was 12 or 13 years old :) Thank you everyone who voted "IT" as the winner! I was needing an excuse to re-read this one for the fifth or sixth time again :) Thank you Horror Aficionados Group!!

message 15: by JoyToy (new)

JoyToy | 74 comments lol I finished reading this like a month ago =p

message 16: by Jeremy (last edited Jun 30, 2015 08:48AM) (new)

Jeremy Hurd-McKenney (jtcontinental) Good luck to all the readers! At the risk of being strapped to a pole and having 1000 page copies of IT thrown at me, I have to admit this is one of my least favorite Stephen King books. Some of it is so riveting, but (view spoiler) completely ruin it for me.

message 17: by H.L. (new)

H.L. Walton | 20 comments Definitely one of my favourite King books! Happy to read it again!

message 18: by Dean (new)

Dean | 27 comments As soon as I finish The Executioner's Song by Norman Mailer I will start It by Stephen King .

It ruined it a little for me too actually. But overall really liked it.

I read this 2 years ago, but I'm thinking of re-reading it with you. I probably won't finish it in a month though.

message 21: by Renee (new)

Renee (elenarenee) The book is waiting for me. I just need time to get it.I am prepping for a large holiday party.Time is just flying

message 22: by Nickronomicon (new)

Nickronomicon | 179 comments I love this book - one of my all-time favorites. I read it when I was about 12 or 13, so I'm sure there's a ton of things I didn't get. I'd love to re-read with the group, but I just started a new job and it's really interfering with my reading time!
I'll have to be satisfied to lurk and re-live the book through your comments. I may try to grab an audio version and try to keep up that way. Also have to give kudos for using the old cover. Old cover art is the best!

message 23: by Char (new)

Char | 17469 comments I hope you enjoy checking out our reader's comments as the Group Read moves along, Nick! :)

message 24: by E. (new)

E. | 86 comments Nick, I read this twice about 30 years apart. Paperback when it first came out, then last year through audio. I did see differences, like I had never registered there were grown-ups in the story... duh.
The audiobook is fun, also. After listening while driving home from work at 1AM, in the dark, sitting in the driveway, alone, I would get totally creeped out for a few minutes.
Good times!

Melissa ♥ Dog/Wolf Lover ♥ Martin | 2262 comments The last time I read this book I was in 6 or 7th grade. That was so long ago. I remember it creeped me out then. We shall see this time around :-)

message 26: by Famine (new)

Famine (wolfcreed) Aw no, I am too late for this challenge!

I last read it in primary school. Shoot.

message 27: by Monica (new)

Monica Go | 901 comments I'm a little over 100 pages in and hoping to keep this pace! I think I'm enjoying it more this time!

I love this cover! This is the cover of the book I have :-)

message 29: by Famine (new)

Famine (wolfcreed) It was also the cover of the one I had :) Shame the kindle cover is nasty.

Can anybody scan the cover at 300 or 600dpi and upload it?

message 30: by Nickronomicon (new)

Nickronomicon | 179 comments It's worth it. It's a great book! Tied with Pet Semetary for my favorite Stephen King book.

message 32: by Nickronomicon (new)

Nickronomicon | 179 comments Yeah - that's the one I remember.

message 34: by Mel (new)

Mel Miller (melthebookguzzlermiller) | 12 comments Yay!! I love this book and happy to read it again for about the fifth time I think!! :-)

message 35: by E. (new)

E. | 86 comments Helen, that is the cover that's on my paperback I've had for about 30 years. I'm pretty sure it's gone through many transformations since, but that's the one I like, because it was first I guess.

That's my favorite cover too. And geez the kindle cover linked is extremely boring. How could they do that to IT?

message 38: by Andy (new)

Andy | 18 comments I do love IT, have not got the time to get stuck back into it now but I will certainly be checking back here for the discussion! I am battling (in a good way) with the stand at the moment, don't think my brain could cope with two 1,000+ page books! :-D

The Stand is one of my favourite king books. It's a long one but when it ends you still wish there was more :-)

message 41: by Famine (new)

Famine (wolfcreed) I know, right? I mean, wow. A stormy sky. That is not King's It!

It is balloons, storm drains, paper boats, dead bodies. Not a badly manipped sky.

Even the typography stinks. I greatly dislike the King eBook covers! At least the Agatha Christie ones are tolerable.

I'm just getting started. My paperback cover has a clown face with IT in red letters.

message 43: by Myst (new)

Myst | 408 comments Got IT from my brother today. I hate the cover. It by Stephen King

I'll start reading once I get a few other books out of the way.

message 44: by Heaven (new)

Heaven Bailey | 3 comments I kinda had a head start on this, because I started reading it a while ago and didn't get around to finishing it before today. It was the first non YA book that I started reading, and it got me to realize I love this genre. I watched the mini series when I was about 7 with my grandpa, so I wanted to find out what all happens in the book. I enjoyed it every step of the way :)

For some reason it reminds me of the American flag. Maybe because of the blue stars in his eyesockets. Clowns have harlequin diamonds, not stars on their cheeks!

Still a better design than the eBook though.

message 47: by Ariel (new)

Ariel This is my first time reading It.

message 48: by Mixofsunandcloud (new)

Mixofsunandcloud | 538 comments It by Stephen King This is the one I have. I picked it up at a used book sale. I'm a bit over 150 pages in, because I didn't start over. Just past the 1st Derry Interlude.

message 49: by JoyToy (new)

JoyToy | 74 comments Mixofsunandcloud wrote: " Just past the 1st Derry Interlude."

I really like those interludes n learning about the town's history!

message 50: by Mixofsunandcloud (new)

Mixofsunandcloud | 538 comments That's one of my favourite parts of the "evil in a small town" books. The Serenity Falls books by James A. Moore do it well in my opinion. I would have suggested it for the group read if it wasn't a trilogy.
