I am so used to seeing threads about Fifty Shades,
with lots of debate about the books. I surprises me that there seems to be none on here.

So have you read it yet ?

any one ?

How was it ?

I was curious because normally there are lots
comments on the fifty shades series good and bad,
for both the books and the film on SOS and elsewhere on
this site.

I just wondered what the fans of this series
thought and they do not seem to be talking much.
Which is surprising. As I started this thread it
is more about everyone else's` opinions not mine.

perhaps most haver not finished reading it yet.

Lauren (laurenjberman) I haven't read the series and I don't have any plans to. Not my thing.

This is so funny! I bought the book and because I wake up at 2:00 am to write, I found Grey had downloaded on my Kindle. (Worse explanation ever, but true) I started to read it instead.

I liked it! I read it, not as a critic for the book, but for enjoyment. When I read what I read out of context and highlighted, I have to ask myself if I really read the book because a lot of it was missed on me in the moment.

I was a little disturbed by the tea comment???!!!
I haven't finished it because I had to get ready for work and I haven't had a chance to pick it back up.

What I liked about it is hearing what he was thinking; not hearing the inner goddess; I love crass over whiney; I finally know what he saw in her because it didn't fit in my mind... Billionaire Dom wants a virgin plain Jane to spend the rest of his life with.

I've read some of those passages and now, I feel crazy. I rolled my eyes at some when I was reading them but highlighted makes them look awful! Hey, it was 2 am

I know, right? I read the passages aloud to my husband last night and we were both rolling on the ground laughing. What man thinks that way?

Debbie's Spurts (D.A.) | 2179 comments Yes, that is absolutely hilarious. And painfully true -- if had not been a billionaire ...

I seriously think I have a new drinking game. With double shots for "music to my dick."

I doubt it's going to cause anyone's kindle vocabulary builder to grow by leaps and bounds.

D.G. | 2752 comments According to the comments, the conversations with his dick are Grey's version of Ana's inner goddess.

Reading those passages was the most I read of the series.

That is so hilarious!

Couldn't get pass 1/3 of the first book...very unlikely that I'll ever read Grey's perspective on the matter.

Pam (psteinke) ICK...I read it. I hate when an author goes back and rewrites a book from another perspective. And this had about 60% basically copy and pasted from the first 50 shades book and the other 40% was new material. This just screams to me that she isn't having any original ideas and it hoping lightning will strike a second time. I don't think it will.

message 17: by Alisa (new)

Alisa That's my feeling too Pam. I hate when authors do this and it seems to happen more and more in the CR genre. I refuse to read any of them. I'll pay for a story once. Not over and over again from different character's pov. Not a trend I like.

This trend is particularly annoying. It does not reflect well on an author who attempts to cash in on a successful story by basically repackaging it rather than putting in the effort to write a new book. Its lazy and perhaps even unethical.

message 20: by Monica (new)

Monica (nutz4reading) | 382 comments I don't see a need to read this book. I read the other 3 only because people at work said it was great. I thought the others were terrible. The ladies at my work were saying it was porn for women. I didn't see it as that. I have read romance books that were better written and could be called porn for women.

message 21: by Pam (new) - rated it 1 star

Pam (psteinke) Lauren, what kills me is that this was based on fan fiction from another author...so it's not based on an original idea. It's a spin-off of someone else's work. That, more than anything, really bothers me about the whole thing. I feel like EL James owes half the money she's made on this to Stephanie Meyer. Talk about walk a fine line.

there is not a lot of insight in to the
male way of thinking in this book, its
coming across as just a retelling of
the first three book with a slight
variation on the wording.

A good author could have done wonders with this tale
in fact I can remember some one putting a link to
a fan fiction site where a fan writer had written
fifty Shades from Christian`s POV, wow it was so
good and the final chapter was especially good.
The part about what happened after Ana
walked out on him made for chilling, compelling reading.

I can remember thinking E L James would need a divine intervention
to match that standard of writing. I wish who ever posted it
would post the link again so every on here could read it,
because the person who wrote it really understands and can
relate to the male mind set.

While fan fiction can often be very original, if done badly, it borders on plagiarism.
