Emerson held her ground outside, pretending to fight alongside the demons. She knew she could only keep it up for so long, the small group of five or so demons would root her out soon enough.
-
Inside, Kylist lazily strolled down the steps, calling out an annoyed, "Why is Alev pretending to be a demon?" Once he heard Bones' voice, he snarled. "So it's you. I only told her I wanted your cat," he said, meeting up with Bones in the foyer. "Not the lot of you." He saw the sword and drew his from a nearby stand, matching the defensive stance.

Kylist easily matched Bones' slashes at him, throwing out his own moves. "Hasn't it occurred to you that Alev's bringing you here was a trap?" he questioned while they fought.
-
Outside, the snow was dying down and one by one the demons started singling Emerson out. Once they all had her cornered, she drew her dagger, screaming at the top of her lungs, "Could you hurry it up a bit, please?" One demon lurched forward and she whipped her dagger into the smallest one's stomach, the demon crumpling to the ground in agony.
Another, the one Bones had singled out, slashed at her with his sword. She feinted, and the metal cut into her collarbone with a sickening slice, barely missing her neck.

Copper ran out out of the forest at full speed and jumped on the back of one of the demons cornering Emerson. She slashed at him with his large paws killing him easily and moving onto the next one. When Emerson wasn't looking Copper jumped into the back of the truck and waited there until she was needed.
Kylist let an arrogant laugh burble out. He stumbled back from one of Bones' blows, his free hand holding a bloody gash on his stomach, waving the sword haphazardly with the other as he charged forward yet again.
-
Emerson turned around to find only Torres left, and she looked around at the bodies in shock. She had only taken out one...
Emerson noted the claw marks on the bodies. So Copper followed us, she realized just before Torres charged her, a wild look in his eyes.
He grabbed her arm with the dagger, his grip so tight that she lost hers, dropping the knife onto the snow. He took the dagger and drew it to her neck, slowly starting to cut into it with a grin.
She raised her knee and kicked him where it counted, making his hand leave her body in momentary pain. It was enough for her to grab a sword from a body and gut his torso onto the snow.
Emerson breathed heavily, stepping back from the mess and grabbing her dagger and keeping the sword before stumble-jogging to the mansion.

Copper did as she was told and ran away from Kylist and over to Emerson. She actually plopped right in front of her running form, to keep her from going any farther. that wasn't part of the command but she read between the lines. Go to the angel most likely meant protect thee angel or he would have said go get the angel or attack the angel maybe even eat the angel.
((G2G))
((Me too. Bye.))
Emerson skidded to a stop, slipping and falling into the snow. She backed up without standing, staring wide-eyed at Copper when she backed into a tree, wondering why the massive beast hadn't attacked her.
-
Kylist was breathing unsteadily, leaning against the wall before catching another wind. "Not yet, old Bonesy," he taunted, no longer trying to attack Bones, the demon just blocked them, his eyes threatening to close despite the adrenaline rush.

Bones knew he was winning and couldn't help but smile. He angled his blade differently and knocked Kylist's out of his hand. Then he slashed at the man's legs knocking him onto the ground. "How about now Ky" he asked as he pressed his foot into his chest and his blade to his throat.
Emerson grabbed at her sword, ducking her head as she waited for Copper to swipe at her. Instead, she let out an oof when the large cat laid on her legs. She wriggled her arms free and tried to push the Mngwa off, even shouldering her, to no avail. "Off, Copper!" she urged, fighting against the massive animal.
-
Kylist swallowed, his eyes flicking between the sword and Bones. "What is it that you want, exactly?" he asked the other demon, not yet ready to indicate he was done fighting, although it was obvious. "I can find another hell cat, obviously. Somewhere else." He wiggled a little under the pressure of Bones' shoe.
((Sorry it took so long.))

"I made a deal with the angel. You gotta leave her alone, and she do a favor for me" Bones said with a smirk. "She was so kind as to warn me about you and your Mngwa snatching plans that I figured it was the least I could do. Well you know for a price" he said and chuckled slightly. When he wiggled Bones applied more pressure to both his foot and the blade. "So you ready to make a deal as well or you just gonna let me kill ya"
Emerson groaned under the pressure of the cat's weight, holding one hand to the cut on her shoulder and another absentmindedly patting/pushing Copper. After a minute, though, she gave up on trying to get the cat off and just petted her, leaning her head against the tree.
-
Kylist froze, making a face as if he were really mulling the options over. "I should say I would rather die, but if you let me go I can take care of Alev," he said, not meaning it in a good way. He huffed. "What do you want out of it? In exchange for my life, I mean."

A bloody scream that sounded like Kylist yelling Alev filled Emerson's ears before she heard a sickening (yet disturbingly satisfying) thunk.
The angel huffed in relief, only hoping that whatever had just happened had resulted in Ky's death, not Bones'. She struggled to sit up straighter even though she couldn't see through the door, not able to stand up under the obvious reason that was holding her down.
Emerson gave a short glare to the cat. "All that to get your stupid herljik on special order," she told Copper.

Bones walked away from the body and through the doors. He couldn't help up laugh at the image of Copper sitting on Emerson. "Good girl" he told Copper before cleaning his sword and making it vanish. "Come on Copper time to go home" he said and started walking. "You coming blondie?" he asked as he patted Copper on the back, once the hell cat got off of Emerson and ran to catch up with him.
Emerson grunted when she stood, picking up her dagger and sliding it into the sheath. "So long as your cat does not mistake me for a couch again," she replied, walking back to Bones.
She cast a sidelong glance to the bodies in a pile a ways away with a frown before heading off into the woods. "Did he say anything?" she asked Bones without looking at him, not wanting to risk seeing the house again.

"I am not 'torn up' about it," Emerson glared. "If only because they would have not just killed me. It's..." She paused, thinking her words over. "It is that I have not killed in a long, long time." She narrowed her eyes between Bones and the cat, replaying his words over again in her head. "You told your Mngwa to come sit on me?" She would have laughed under different circumstances, but these weren't it to her.

The angel watched ad the car transformed and was picked up. "She thinks she's not a Mngwa, you mean?" Emerson furrowed her brow, following Bones to the truck an climbing in on the passenger's side, still holding her shoulder.
When Bones got in, she narrowed her eyes at him. "Are you hurt at all?" she questioned, looking him over.

"Good." Emerson leaned her head against the rest.
When they got back to her shop, Emerson climbed out, about to remind Bones of the feed bags when she saw Jonas, the man from the night before, pacing outside her store. When he spotted her, Jonas ran up and grabbed Emerson by the shoulders. "I'm about to be late for work! I need that pat-patchoolee stuff," he shrieked in her face., never mind that he was pronouncing it wrong.
"Calm down, Jonas," Emerson brushed past him and unlocked the shop. "I have two waiting just for you." The man fumbled in behind her, already pulling out his fraying wallet.
"No, you already paid for them," the angel told him as she passed the small bottles.
"But- the vial..." The man didn't argue further, and Emerson wasn't about to tell him she had just given him water earlier. He gave a quick thanks and hurried out of the store and past Bones.
Glancing up at him, Emerson finished writing up the subscription order fir the feed and picked one of the bags up to carry out to his truck.

Emerson snorted, watching the back of the man jogging away from the store. "I don't understand it, but he comes in every night for that lotion." She shrugged, watching Bones. "The place will smell like pot for another hour."
When he climbed into the truck, mentioning how he had thought it was fun, the side of her mouth quirked. "That's your kind of fun, huh?" Emerson crossed her arms. "I'll see you Friday, Bones." With that, she turned to head back into her store.

Once inside her shop, Evangeline realized how late it was and how tired she felt. Knowing she still had lots to do, she stood in front of the mirror in her room, staring at her grumpy face, bloody clothes and messy hair.
She stripped and got in the shower, wincing as she lightly washed away the blood to more clearly see the gashes on her neck and shoulder. Stepping out and drying off, she gathered her personal medical kit and dressed the wounds, grateful they weren't worse.
Afterwards, she slipped into a nightgown --having to throw away the torn-up, bloody dress she'd been wearing- and got in bed. Her body felt like lead, which was strange because she should have been able to take much more that day. She struggled to stand up from her bed, but her eyes closed against their will.
-
A few hours into the night, Emerson awoke with a gasp, seeing the figure of a small child standing over the end of the bed. She scrambled to a sitting position and saw that the girl wasn't standing, she floated. "Alev," the child said in her raspy, dreamy voice. "Why did you have to go and kill my Kylist? Now I need to find a new master."
Emerson let out a breath, closing her eyes to calm herself down. "I can't help you there, and you know why I had to kill him." She didn't bother to mention she'd had help.
"You will help me, Alev," said Shelna, rocking her head. "Even if it means me staying here until I find someone I like."
"You're just a child- there's no reason for you to be here." Emerson bit her lip. "It's not like you can stay in the basement."
"Oh, but I forgot to mention something." Shelna lifted her hand from her stomach, revealing a dark gleam on the shirt that looked like blood.
Evangeline groaned, standing up to help the child to the basement, dressing the wound and giving her a place in one of the beds and leaving once Shelna had fallen asleep, climbing to her apartment and falling asleep restlessly.

About a good ten minutes later everything was put away and he had a beautiful sandwich sitting on a plate on his counter. He smiled small and grabbed the plate before going into the living room and sitting down to eat.
He was kind of surprised that Abby hadn't come to bother him yet, but didn't really feel like questioning it. Why question a good thing after all? He ate his sandwich while he watched bad late night reality T.V. Thankfully the sandwich didn't last long and he didn't have to endure to much of it.
When he was done he put the plate away and went back upstairs, though instead of going straight to bed he went to his bathroom and stripped out of his boxers. He hoped into the shower a moment later and washed away the day.
"Hey Bonesy, oohshs you sure are lookin fine" Abby purred from just outside the shower curtain.
Bones rolled his eyes and continued cleaning himself. "Go away Abby"
The next morning, Emerson awoke with a knot in her neck and a headache. For a peaceful moment, she didn't remember she housed a (technically dead) child in her basement.
Emerson rolled out of bed and dressed, jumping out of her skin when she heard a hoarse, "Alev?" calling from somewhere below.
She jogged down both flights of steps to search for the child, sighing deeply when she saw the girl nearly camouflaged into the spare bed, pale skin matching the sheets.
Emerson checked the child's wound, getting fresh dressings for it. She hadn't the nerve to voice her suspicion that Shelna had done it to herself for an excuse to stay with Emerson.
The angel made small talk until they stayed silent, staring at each other under Shelna's stomach rumbled and Emerson went to find something suitable for breakfast. She herself wasn't hungry, so she watched as the undead girl tore through three bowls of cereal before finally settling back to sleep, leaving Emerson to set up shop for the day.

Abby didn't say anything she just quickly grabbed all the bloodied up clothes, there was a lot of um, and hurried back to her house to do laundry.
~
The next morning Bones got up feeling fresh as a daisy. Fights like the one he had yesterday always made him feel better, and well happy. It was much more challenging then his hump and kill routine and he liked the change or pace. He'd definitely have to start doing more things like that. "Hmmmm maybe I should me a bounty hunter" he mused as he nibbled on some breakfast. "Get paid for doing what I love. Killing people" he said with a smile and then just shrugged before going back upstairs to get dressed.
Once clothed Bones fed Copper and was about to leave to start his day, when Abby appeared. "Okay, so I go most of the blood out but I ran out of the potion stuff."
"I'll just go and get some more then" Bones shrugged slightly before grabbing his keys and leaving to go back to the shop.
Emerson tried to spend her time sitting on the stool behind her counter reading or tending to customers, but that was difficult when she heard an agonizing, "Alev?..." every five minutes.
When she saw Bones parking outside, Emerson's nerves were high and she even looked like she was about to crack. "You do realize it is not Friday, correct?" she questioned in her calmest voice when the door's bell rang, barely looking up from a stack of paper.
"Alev?!"
"Shut up! I'll be there in twenty seconds!" Emerson shouted down the staircase before meeting Bones on the other side of the counter.
"What can I-" she was interrupted.
"But I smell a demon!" the girl shrieked in excitement.
Emerson trie hard to ignore the girl, instead pushing forward with her question. "What can I do for you?"

"Your 'lady friend maid person'?" Emerson mocked with a smirk. She gestured to the shelf stocked with the stain remover bottles an pulled out a box of them. Looking to her shoulder, she nodded. "Yes, I suppose it helps every now and then to be considered the town witch." She gave him a half smile.
Emerson gestured to the box. "How many do you need? Or should I say, how many does your lady friend maid person need?" she teased with arched eyebrows.

"What, and not come see me tomorrow, too?" Emerson teased as she rung up the order, ducking her head when he asked about the kid. "It's a... long story." She huffed, weighing telling him who it was or not in her head.
"It's this kid, er... I don't know. She's... like, nine or ten but I've known her for over twenty years. I think she's technically dead, but not a ghost, if that makes sense. She worked for Kylist," she said, lowering her voice. "And now that he's dead, she says she has to stay with me until I find a way for her to actually die, or find her a new demon to work for."
Emerson shrugged. "I almost have the former thought out, but she's getting really annoying."

"You have kids?" Emerson gaped before narrowing her eyes at his back. "And you haven't tortured and killed them yet? I'm impressed." She inclined her head to the stairwell. "If you know of any demon that doesn't live anywhere near here, let me know." She put away the money she had been handed.

Emerson opened her mouth then shut it a few times before looking to the stairway again. "Shelna, would you rather just go back to hell?" she asked seriously.
There was a pause, then, "Sure!"
Emerson rolled her eyes. "There we have it," she muttered to Bones. "Do you want anything else?"

Emerson momentarily considered kicking him out but decided against it. She was bored and no way would she go down to visit with Shelna.
She tapped the countertop, her lip twitching. "Well..." She pulled a book off the shelf under the counter. "Not currently, but I've made this... potion, if you will, that sort of... sends the body to a random, non existing place. Actually, I've never made it but I know how," she replied, mulling it over as she flipped through the pages of the book. "I could have it ready by tonight. Or tomorrow, depending on how much you want."

"I'll make two... They should be ready tonight." Emerson murmured, almost to herself. She looked up at Bones with a smirk. "Are you trying to tell me you're not a very bad demon?" she asked, amused. After marking the spot with the recipe in the book, she ran a hand through her hair, beginning to fish around for the ingredients while she talked to Bones.

"I can think of someone," Emerson joked, pulling off the second to last ingredient and narrowing her eyes at it before tossing the small bag to the counter.
Moving to the other room of the store, she mentioned when she passed Bones, "I can't find..." Her voice trailing off as she steppe up on a couple of the shelves the reach the highest one, tugging a large bottle off the shelf and heaving it to the counter. "Never mind."

Emerson turned to face him again. "Yeah, it's this person you've seen the last three days. Blonde? About... This tall?" She held her hand up to her hair and nodded before chuckling. "She thinks you're strange."
((Sorry it's short. I won't be on again until tomorrow night.))
((Sorry it's short. I won't be on again until tomorrow night.))

"Good luck with that," Emerson told him while she rearranged the ingredients again. When he called her strange, her head popped up again with a odd look on her face. "I'm the strange one? How so?" she challenged, placing a hand on her hip. He's too full of himself, she thought, studying his handsome face.

"I'll provide a distraction and you can find a way in," Emerson ordered, barely waiting a second before she sprinted into the field, shrieking something about an army of angels hiding out in the forest.
In mere seconds, the field was in chaos, a cloud of snow falling down and covering everything, thanks to Emerson. She summoned the snow to create other tall, pale figures that came to fight the demons. Imagine their surprise when their blades were met with the disintegration of the snow figures.
