Marybeth (narutofan14) This weekend I finished Truthwitch (The Witchlands, #1) by Susan Dennard which was okay, Winter (The Lunar Chronicles, #4) by Marissa Meyer which was a 5 star for me and highly recommended, Lady Midnight (The Dark Artifices, #1) by Cassandra Clare which was also a very good book, Nightshade (Nightshade, #1) by Andrea Cremer , Origin (Lux, #4) by Jennifer L. Armentrout and Rage of the Fallen (The Last Apprentice / Wardstone Chronicles, #8) by Joseph Delaney and they were okay.
I am now going to work on either Evil Genius (Genius, #1) by Catherine Jinks , Drowned (Drowned, #1) by Nichola Reilly or Matched (Matched, #1) by Ally Condie . I also went to the library today to drop off books and ended up getting Shadows / Opposition (Lux #0.5, #5) by Jennifer L. Armentrout and How to Say Goodbye in Robot by Natalie Standiford .

For audio, I am currently listening to Sharpe's Triumph by Bernard Cornwell. It's an enjoyable book.

From the Kindle app on my iPhone, I'm reading No Breaking My Heart by Kate Angell. I'm a big Kate Angell fan, and this is a great series set in Florida. Sun, sand, beach, and really hot ball players...hmmm - lots to enjoy there :)

Ocean Beach (Ten Beach Road, #2) by Wendy Wax

and

Death on the Nile by Agatha Christie
Death on the Nile (Hercule Poirot, #17) by Agatha Christie

message 113: by Bonita (new)

Bonita How are you liking Death on the Nile?

message 114: by jingles (new)

jingles | 3483 comments Mod
I am liking it pretty well, Bonita. By now I am used to Christie's style of writing. And you know, language has changed so much since that time. Sometimes that can be a little off, but to be expected.

Have you read it? If so, what did you think?

message 115: by Bonita (new)

Bonita Yes, I read it several years ago - before I started goodreads. I'm going back and re-reading a lot of her books. Tommy & Tuppence books are my favorites followed by Miss Marple and then the Hercule Poirot books. The best thing about her books, is that there are books that have similar plots, so I don't usually remember the endings of specific books so I can re-read them every 10 or 15 years and enjoy them all over again. I agree with you about her style of writing, but I started reading her books in high school after I grew out of Nancy Drew and Trixie Belden so her books are like meeting up with old friends. (Always been a book nerd!)

I used to read Tricia Belsen books too! I loved those books. Funny thing - I have never read Nancy Drew. I don't know why because they were so popular.

I just started reading Agatha Christie books a few years ago so I haven't gotten to her other series yet.

message 117: by Bonita (new)

Bonita My uncle gave me the first two Nancy Drew books for Christmas one year. My mom was very busy and didn't have time to read adult books so we read through them together - she read while I was at school, and I read on the weekends. Fun memories!

Oh what precious memories those are Bonita!

No one in my family (immediate family that is) were readers. However, I have 2 nieces now that love to read. I call that redemption! Lol

I love that series I'm up to the last book. Do you plan to read her YA series in the same world. Or the series with alexias daughter.

I do plan to read her other series. I want to finish this on first though, or at least get caught up through publication.

For some reason, I have a harder time keeping books straight when I start reading more than one series by the same author. Either that, or I find I don't enjoy the books as much. I really try (I don't always succeed) to read only one series by the same author at a time.

I'm struggling with this very problem right now with some Bernard Cornwell series.

That's good to know about the Jack Daniels Mystery series. I think I have book #1 on one of my TBR lists.

I'm in the middle of book #10 from the Cotton Malone series...and as always there's lot of action and excitement.

The Patriot Threat by Steve Berry

message 125: by Bonita (new)

Bonita I just finished that one, Jingles. I really like the Cotton Malone series. Are you listening to it?

message 126: by jingles (new)

jingles | 3483 comments Mod
Yes, Bonita and I love Scott Brick's voice!!!

He manages to cover Cotton's personality perfectly.

During this one, I really liked the part where Steve Berry comments after some of the chapters. It's kind of like his section at the end where he separates fact from fiction.

message 127: by Bonita (new)

Bonita I agree! That added so much to the book for me. Enjoy!
