I'd like to withdraw my question as Miss V reminded me about the ole no butterfly rule.

Nancy (nancyhelen) | 386 comments Jenne, also Sandy has only just had a chance to post her books up and she finished one on the 20th which fit with the first Mini-Challenge, although she has only just posted it. Can we count the MCP because of the finish date?

Also, for a book she finished on the 24th, would that count for the first Mini-Challenge or the second?

message 654: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) | 7439 comments The 20th one is cool to use mini #1. The 24th would fall under mini #2.

Ok no worries - on the phone part of sword looks pink when you enlarge the cover. I was hoping but not surprised, lol

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) | 7439 comments Task 2 is up and can be found here.

Just like the mini challenge this won't start until Wednesday and any book finished after Wednesday is fair game.

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) | 7439 comments Mini #3 is up also and can be found here.

Again doesn't start until Wednesday and any book finished after Wednesday is fair game.

message 661: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) | 7439 comments Just to clarify-
The new task begins on this coming Wednesday. At that point if your team does not have its last/current set of 10 complete you'll need to go ahead and complete it. You can work on task 2 in the meantime you just can't use 1 book for both tasks. Once the final set of task 1 is complete, task 1 is over for your team.

message 662: by Emma (M) (new)

Emma (M) Hi Jenne, would we be able to get a countdown clock again. It's really helpful when all team members are from different time zones to be able to refer to a clock.

message 663: by LaurLa (new)

LaurLa | 3938 comments HI Jenne - do you see yellow on his little hands or down by his feet? Also, we were wondering if gold or golden work for yellow - his crown is gold. I wasn't really counting on the crown for this book but it was something we were wondering.

For sure I'm digging these countdown clocks :)
It might be tomorrow or Monday at the latest.

message 666: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) | 7439 comments LaurLa that's a toughie while gold and yellow are very similar that's obviously gold. If it was something shaded yellowish gold I'd say yes but I think I'll need to veto that one :(

message 667: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) | 7439 comments Also I just want to remind everyone you don't have to read a task book. Most of the teams task 2 corresponds with the majority of the teams genres. There's going to be a couple on each team that, that's not the case for. You can always get your points from the many other points options and while one task or mini may be a bit tougher for one team just remember the next one might be easy for you and tougher for them.

Also some of the tasks will be more of a vague thing like not knowing what crime someone commits without reading the story vs the concrete thing like a book cover.

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 1052 comments Hi Jenne - we need a definitive opinion on blue for the following covers

The Pedlar and the Bandit King (Scarlet and the White Wolf, #1) by Kirby Crow and

Void Moon by Michael Connelly

The first cover looks more blue when you make it a bigger image.

Thanks!

message 674: by ~Leslie~ (new)

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 1052 comments Ezi - I see blue on the background behind the person, but it doesn't show very well when the cover is small. Other people see gray.

message 678: by Ora (new)

Ora (oeamis) Jenne I know you answered this question before, however I just cannot find the post.

For determining if a book is a retelling of a fairytale, if it is on a listopia list does it count and do you need to name or link the listopia list when posting the book?

The first one the glove and scarf look kinda blue gray. I'm on my phone which isn't always a good judge of color. I'll look on the laptop this evening.

The second one has an edition that's no doubt blue

If it's on a listopia that's only for fairy tales/retellings you're good. You don't have to list the listopia.

message 685: by Cait S (new)

Cait S So here's a confusing question for you. I know we can claim covers for versions we haven't read if they work for the task. But in this case, I'm reading a version of the book that is longer than 150 pages, but the version with the task item is shorter than 150 pages (147, *shakes fist*). Can I still claim that cover or does that only work if it meets the minimum requirement as well?

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) | 7439 comments Lol it's fine just link both when posting you're done.

message 688: by Susan A (last edited Jun 30, 2015 09:22AM) (new)

Susan A | 2096 comments Jenne is this interpretation correct:

Any task 1 book started (not necessarily finished) before July 1 will count for the task 1.

Furthermore, after July 1 we may continue to read books that count for task 1 (but may not also count for task 2) until we have a complete set of ten, no matter how long that takes. We may not start another set of ten.

Assuming the above is correct - -do you want us to state today all of the task 1 books that are in progress? There are 10 people on my team -- if we are all in progress and if anyone is reading two books, this could be more than 1 set of tasks.

Assuming the initial statement above is correct, if I start a task 1 book after July 1 with the goal of completing the set of 10, am I eligible for the current mini-challenge points?

Example:
July 2nd we have 8/10 task 1 books reported. I start Les Recidivists (green cover) by Nicole Castle on July 2nd. Can I count castle mini challenge points?

message 690: by Jenne (last edited Jun 30, 2015 09:43AM) (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) | 7439 comments Susan,
lets say by the end of tonight you have 6/10 green books done.
A book that comes in as finished that's green you can claim towards task 1. Once you get the remaining 4 greens in, task 1 is done. It's nothing but a forgotten thing at this point.

Keeping with the 6/10 example tomorrow or after, any book finished can go towards green until the last 4 greens are filled or pirates. At this point I'd do the remaining greens as a first come first serve basis.

It's not about when you started it (unless it was started prior to grimm readers kicking off), it's about when you finished it.

message 691: by Shannon (new)

message 692: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (laurenjberman) Jenne, would Ridin' in the title work for Riding? Thanks.

message 693: by Susan A (new)

Susan A | 2096 comments So you are saying that if at midnight we are at 8/10, and 5 of us are in progress with green books, not all of the green books will count? I don't think that was clear earlier in the week.

I am almost finished a green book. With 10 people on our team, it is difficult to figure out whether I should start another green book today.

message 694: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) | 7439 comments Shannon any book finished today - mini 2
Tomorrow or after mini 3, regardless of where you stand with tasks.

message 696: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) | 7439 comments Susan they'll count as non task books (once the final set of green is done) with all applicable bonuses, mini, page points. And if they fit task 2 criteria and finish tomorrow or later they could go towards task 2.
