For those of you that have read JAK's Arcane series, this is similar in style.
Abby Radwell, is a freelance hot psychic book-dealer. Not stolen but psychically enhanced, sometimes encrypted, book-dealer. She becomes aware that a 40yr old hot lab book is out there when she is simultaneously bribed and blackmailed to find it.
She approaches an old friend for advice. His answer is to contact Sam Coppersmith, pronto!
Our Hero Sam Coppersmith, head of the R & D lab of Coppersmith Inc, has a paranormal power associated with crystals.
As with all JAK books there are lots of twists and turns including kidnapping attempts, dead ex-girlfriends, long lost heirs, crystal weapons, horrible family histories, gutsy friends and cute pets. And of course a HEA that pleases all the senses.

My pick is good just haven't had much reading time this week, too much RL. Good news for me is with regular exercise and diet the bouts of insomnia have disappeared, bad news is no late night reading time...

Thought it might have been more yellow than orange. I've read

I'm happy for you, Lis, even if you have less reading time. :)

Review:
I literally just finished the book and am kind of speechless at the moment, so this may be short. Like the other books in the series, this book is very fast paced. I liked that 3 years have passed since the previous book, so the characters have had time to move past the events that took place. I really love all the characters, but David won a special place in my geeky heart by wearing a t-shirt at one point that had a blueprint of the TARDIS on it (gotta love Doctor Who). :)
I can't think of much more to say at the moment, as I am still reeling from the events of the last 10% of the book. Suffice to say, I'll be picking up book 4 as soon as it's available.

I'm happy for you, Lis, even if you have less reading time. :)"
My husband and I started juicing / blending fresh fruit and greens as a new year get healthy kick... And feel so much better... I have energy, kicked soda and coffee and even lost weight too.

It's really really good. But dark too.

I'm happy for you, Lis, even if you have less reading time. :)"

Great start to the Weather Warden spin-off series. The characters make a brief appearance towards the end of the WW series, but this begins prior. Same world set-up and the main character Cassiel is of the "old djinn" reporting to Ashan who strips her of her djinn essence and casts her down to earth as a human. But she quickly learns that she now has to rely on a weather warden to replenish her energy and her "earth warden" powers. Lewis the leader of the WWs sets her up with another earth warden in NM to keep her out of their way. We get to watch her slowly become human (which the old djinn despise), as she assists Manny Rocha with his earth warden duties. Very touching moments as she adopts the Rocha family that takes her in and a lot of emotional ups and downs with all that entails.
I really enjoyed the scaled down drama in the first part of this spin-off as the WW are always fighting to save the world from one crisis after another. It was sweet to see her relationship with Manny's daughter Isabel unfold and become more human as she goes thru the discovery process of developing feelings for this family. I really think it helps to have read the WW series first, but might not be necessary. Definitely plan on continuing with this series, I like the less epicness of this one, but have a feeling that we might me headed back to the end of the world scenario with this one too.

Review:
Samson' Lovely Mortal was a fairly enjoyable read but it fell flat for me on the mystery and paranormal element.
What I did like about it was that it was fast-paced and funny and the romance between Samson and Delilah was hot.
However the mystery part of the book was disappointing as it didn't take me long to figure out who was behind it all and though the author did come up with an interesting new paranormal world I felt we mostly learned about the world through Samson telling Delilah about it rather than being shown. The author did put a new and funny spin on vampires but besides loving the humor in the book I didn't enjoy it from the paranormal aspect and at times I felt like I was reading a contemporary suspense book rather than a paranormal book.
I really did like Samson's Lovely Mortal, the humor and romance between the main characters was great but as a paranormal book it just didn't work completely for me.

Review: I'm not much for zombie books but I found this story refreshing and new. Definitely a different take on zombies!
I felt so bad for Bryn. She was in an unattainable position without even have the security of knowing she was in control of her own destiny.
The plot was exciting and completely unpredictable. I really didn't know where it was going but was glad how it ended up. I had to suspense my disbelief at times - I couldn't believe a company could get up to those shenanigans and nobody would notice - but hey, it's a zombie book.
Really looking forward to the sequel.

Hey Sandra - So what color is this? You know you said it wasn't green to someone...so is it blue?

I guess I could use some of the other covers, which are more blue than this one. Gosh that one from Tantor is horrible!

The Tantor one looks so fake, as if the artist was doing an anatomy lesson.

I'd like to get blue or red but that REALLY wouldn't move us at all in the board.

I can't believe this our first yellow!

Jenna's normal life just ended. The crazy man that preaches about the end of the world and has a group of followers preparing for the end of days, was her father Mason. Just happens that her father's prophesied events were correct and before he died he had one of his soldiers Mitch promise to save his daughter. Jenna finds herself kidnapped tossed in her car trunk and whisked away to Mitch's cabin in the woods. Then all the crazy happens, the world shuts down, no power or electronic devices work, all birds and animals disappear and zombie-like demon dogs are attacking the population of humans. Mitch hopes to keep her safe in his isolated and well stocked cabin until survivors discover their location and the game plan must change.
Thought the concept of the book creative but the world building didn't come together smoothly at first. The attraction and relationship development seemed awkward in the beginning and the pairings happened a tad too easily. With the twist and turns this storyline took down a pretty dark and violent path it all pulled together into an interesting read. Definitely plan on continuing this series.

I'm almost done with my book too. What a crazy ride!

A new werewolf series and you're all thinking ho-hum read it all before; well you'd be wrong.
In this world there are Dire Wolves, Werewolves, Humans, Witches and we're told there are Vamps. Dire wolves were created by Norse Gods and are to protect humans and police the weres.
There are only 6 Dires left, all male, lonely sinlges, who look like a lickable motorbike gang, all with gifts from the Gods and each have their own problems. Led by Rifter.
The villains are humans - Weretrappers - who have enslaved/allied with the Outlaw werewolves and also with a powerful coven of witches. They are intent on taking over the world and will use any means necessary to do it.
Along comes our h Gwen, a Doctor who is dying from some unidentifiable illness which causes seizures.
If I was to say this book reminds me of any other it would be the BDB series, but only in a superficial way.
Really looking forward to reading the next one. And for those that don't recognise the author name - she is half of the writing team with Larissa Ione, of Sydney Croft.

I finished my book and OMG! It's among the CRAZIEST books I've read. I'll post the review later today.

Review:
A Terminal Illness. Psychic Powers. Terrorists. Human Experiments. High Stakes Gambling. Mercenaries. And...Aliens?
Yes, you read that right. Brainrush had ALL of the above. It's definitely made my top 10 of the craziest books I've read, EVER.
Jake Bronson is terminally ill but he comes out of an MRI with brain powers. Instead of keeping it to himself, Jake foolishly brags about the whole thing in public and before you know it, everybody wants a piece of him, including Battista, a mastermind who's doing human experiments to create the perfect terrorist.
The plot was full of action and very exciting, even if things were crazy improbable. Not only did Jake seem to develop new powers just as he needed them but all his friends happenned to have all sorts of different skillz that allowed them to help him out. The plans were so ridiculous that there was almost no chance that they would work out but of course, they did. And the writing was so over the top that I kept laughing hysterically. You usually don't see purple prose in thrillers.
The characterization was not one-dimensional but it was very black and white. The good guys were good and the villains were eeevil! But unlike evil villains world over, Battista didn't kill Jake when he had the chance. Instead we were treated to that most stupid of plot devices, "the teacup", in which the evil villain decides to spare the hero so he can kill him in a slower, more elaborate, painful way (like boiling him in a giant teacup full of hot water) or some crazy non sense like that which allows the hero to escape. A few times I was yelling at Battista...just kill him now!
R.C. Bray did a decent job with the narration. His New York accent was really good (amazing how many narrators get that wrong) and the rest were good to passable (except his British one...that was bad.) He had a range of voices and his pacing was good. If only the plot wasn't so ludicrous, I would have enjoyed his narration more.
Even though the sequel promises more wackiness (with the aliens and all), the book ended in a way that I want to know what happens next. I won't buy it at full price but if I come across the audio on sale, I will definitely grab it.

Then when I enlarged it, it looks red to me!
Sandra - Can you please let me know which color you think it is? If it's red, I may start it right away as I have tons of red books I can read if we get red next week.

Sounds like my kind of book, downloaded! Need yellow called again...
