The March group read theme is detective action. Post the book you'd like to read for this theme on this thread. Please post a link to the book by clicking 'add book/author' and the author's name. Please make one nomination for now.

The poll will go up on January 27th.

Thanks!

Kevin (spiralcity) I was thinking I would like to nominate a Stuart Wood book.

But I also want to nominate a bit of a period detective yarn.

I'm going to post both noms, if we are only allowing one nom per reader then please select my first book as my pick.

1. The Dante Club - Matthew Pearl

2. New York Dead (Stone Barrington Novels) - Stuart Woods.

If a book is out of print, that's problematic for group reads. So, I would ask everyone to pick a book that is readily available for nomination.

Oops. I changed my nomination to The Winter Queen because I own that one, and I'd have to buy/find a copy of The Monkey's Raincoat. Sorry!

Sharon Michael | 449 comments I'd like to nominate Blood Orchid (Holly Barker #3) by Stuart Woods . Main character is the Chief of Police rather than a detective but is the main investigator ... and I love tough, take-no-prisoners females.

I'll toss in Snake Skin by C.J. Lyons. Snake Skin is about Lucy Giuardino, a tough FBI Agent running investigations in the Pittsburg PA office. She's chasing a serial killer, she's in charge and she's also a soccer Mom... well a soccer mom who's hot and carries a gun.

Snake Skin (Lucy Guardino FBI Thriller, #1) by C.J. Lyons

Jim (jimmaclachlan) I'll nominate Whiskey Sour by J.A. Konrath. It's the first of his Jack Daniels series. She's a cop & I got this book for free from Konrath's website:
http://www.jakonrath.com/

Later, I bought it in PB & then several other books in the series.

message 16: by Eileen (new)

Eileen I was thinking about Whiskey Sour, Jim.

Now back to my list of books to see what I can find.

I have the first book in this series "Orchid Beach", I believe it's out of print right now. I find it odd that this is the case.

OK, I did a double check, it's now available.

Okay, I goofed and hit the wrong button. I intended to nominate the first book in the series, which is
Orchid Beach (Holly Barker, #1) by Stuart Woods

May I withdraw the nomination to "Blood Orchid" and substitute "Orchid Beach"? Not sure just how to handle that.

We read Whiskey Sour last January, so it's ineligible, but you can find the discussion thread which is still open here:
