3. Geography: Read a book whose author, character, or setting is from Israel. Other options: You may also read a book set in the Middle East. Israel is (in)famous for religious and political strife. Thus, you can also read a book about religion or politics/politicians or with characters in the armed forces. The national flag of Israel is blue and white - you may read a book with a predominantly blue or white cover.
4. Groundhog Day (Feb 2):
While My Sister Sleeps by Barbara Delinsky – February 5 (life-altering choices)
5. Superbowl Sunday (Feb 3):
Souvenir:A Novel by Therese Fowler – February 14th (The hero is a rock star).
6. Lunar New Year (Feb 10): It's the Year of the Snake! Lunar New Year is extremely popular across the Asian culture. Read a book with a main character who's Asian, or by an Asian author, or any book related to snakes, dragons (a mythical creature found in many Asian folktales), fireworks, or good fortune. Completed: 35/10 + 1
1. 'F' is for February: TBD
I've never read LH, but her early books were recommended by a friend (and it worked for the monthly challenge), so I picked up the two-for-one MacKenzie's Legacy (which also includes Joe's story). While you could tell this was written almost 25 years ago (with references to Vietnam, as well as the romance style), and had the feel (at least in the beginning) of a historical, I did enjoy it and will be continuing with the Mackenzie's - and Linda Howard.
(Kate is a mercenary; storyline deals with politics surrounding two groups (Yes, I know I'm stretching... ;) I think I found a new series! ;) Kate's world sucked me right in and I especially liked the unromantic version of shifters the author provided. I want to read more!
4. Groundhog Day (Feb 2): A Dance Through Time by Lynn Kurland
I'm not one for sports-centered romances (probably since I'm not really a sports fan - except for a bit of soccer and hockey...I live in Canada after all ;) so I really wasn't looking forward to this category. "I'll catch you" was a quick read, with a heroine that I really liked.
6. Lunar New Year (Feb 10): One Piece 64 & One Piece, Volume 65: To Zero both by Eiichiro Oda (which will bring me up to date!)
Tackled a pretty heavy topic with an unusual twist, though the end conflict felt too rushed while the actually ending felt too open-ended.
8. Tell a Fairy Tale Day (Feb 26): A Kiss at Midnight by Eloisa James
9. Chocolate Lovers' Month: Sorcery and Cecelia, or The Enchanted Chocolate Pot by Patricia C. Wrede & Caroline Stevermer
Jane Austen's "Pride and Prejudice" is one of my favourite books of all time. Mary Street's re-telling from Darcy's point of view is a close second - makes me want to watch Colin Firth again! ;)
