Hoping to complete 5 this month
February Monthly Reading Challenge
3/5

*1. 'F' is for February:
Read a book that starts with 'F' or by an author whose first or last name begins with 'F'.

Runaway by

3. Geography: Read a book whose author, character, or setting is from Israel. Other options: You may also read a book set in the Middle East. Israel is (in)famous for religious and political strife. Thus, you can also read a book about religion or politics/politicians or with characters in the armed forces. The national flag of Israel is blue and white - you may read a book with a predominantly blue or white cover.

4. Groundhog Day (Feb 2):
While My Sister Sleeps by Barbara Delinsky – February 5 (life-altering choices)

5. Superbowl Sunday (Feb 3):
Souvenir:A Novel by Therese Fowler – February 14th (The hero is a rock star).

6. Lunar New Year (Feb 10): It's the Year of the Snake! Lunar New Year is extremely popular across the Asian culture. Read a book with a main character who's Asian, or by an Asian author, or any book related to snakes, dragons (a mythical creature found in many Asian folktales), fireworks, or good fortune. OR read a manga.

7. Valentine's Day (Feb 14):
Friday Night Knitting Club by Kate Jacobs – February 16th

8. Tell a Fairy Tale Day (Feb 26): Read a fairy tale! Or read a retelling of a fairy tale, or a book about faerie, fairies, or the fey.

9. Chocolate Lovers' Month; Read a book where chocolate, sweets, desserts, or baked goods is the main theme or is on the cover/title, or a book where a character is obsessed with sweets/chocolate/etc. OR read a book that you consider a guilty pleasure. XD

Completed: 35/10 + 1

1. 'F' is for February: TBD
2. Happy Birthday!: Happy Birthday Makenzie! (22nd) - Mackenzie's Mountain by Linda Howard 10 Feb ★★★★
I've never read LH, but her early books were recommended by a friend (and it worked for the monthly challenge), so I picked up the two-for-one MacKenzie's Legacy (which also includes Joe's story). While you could tell this was written almost 25 years ago (with references to Vietnam, as well as the romance style), and had the feel (at least in the beginning) of a historical, I did enjoy it and will be continuing with the Mackenzie's - and Linda Howard.
3. Geography: Magic Bites by Ilona Andrews 6 Feb ★★★★
(Kate is a mercenary; storyline deals with politics surrounding two groups (Yes, I know I'm stretching... ;) I think I found a new series! ;) Kate's world sucked me right in and I especially liked the unromantic version of shifters the author provided. I want to read more!
4. Groundhog Day (Feb 2): A Dance Through Time by Lynn Kurland
5. Superbowl Sunday (Feb 3): I'll Catch You by Farrah Rochon (football) 16 Feb ★★★
I'm not one for sports-centered romances (probably since I'm not really a sports fan - except for a bit of soccer and hockey...I live in Canada after all ;) so I really wasn't looking forward to this category. "I'll catch you" was a quick read, with a heroine that I really liked.
6. Lunar New Year (Feb 10): One Piece 64 & One Piece, Volume 65: To Zero both by Eiichiro Oda (which will bring me up to date!)
7. Valentine's Day (Feb 14): A Mother's Homecoming by Tanya Michaels (high school sweathearts) 15 Feb ★★★
Tackled a pretty heavy topic with an unusual twist, though the end conflict felt too rushed while the actually ending felt too open-ended.
8. Tell a Fairy Tale Day (Feb 26): A Kiss at Midnight by Eloisa James
9. Chocolate Lovers' Month: Sorcery and Cecelia, or The Enchanted Chocolate Pot by Patricia C. Wrede & Caroline Stevermer
10. Reader's Choice: The Confession of Fitzwilliam Darcy by Mary Street 3 Feb ★★★★
Jane Austen's "Pride and Prejudice" is one of my favourite books of all time. Mary Street's re-telling from Darcy's point of view is a close second - makes me want to watch Colin Firth again! ;)

READ:
Mackenzie's Mountain (Mackenzie Family, #1) by Linda Howard Magic Bites (Kate Daniels, #1) by Ilona Andrews I'll Catch You by Farrah Rochon A Mother's Homecoming by Tanya Michaels The Confession of Fitzwilliam Darcy by Mary Street

CURRENTLY Reading/Up Next:
One Piece 64 by Eiichiro Oda & One Piece, Volume 65 To Zero (One Piece, #65) by Eiichiro Oda A Kiss at Midnight (Fairy Tales, #1) by Eloisa James

UNREAD:
[1] A Dance Through Time (MacLeod, #1) by Lynn Kurland Sorcery and Cecelia, or The Enchanted Chocolate Pot (Cecelia and Kate, #1) by Patricia C. Wrede

Bookchaser | 2017 comments 2013 February Monthly Reading Challenge

8/10 Completed

01. 'F' is for February: Read a book that starts with 'F' or by an author whose first or last name begins with 'F'.
Burning Wild by Christine Feehan 02/19/13
02. Happy Birthday!: Read a book from a February birthday celebrant's GR bookshelf whose name/nickname starts with the same letter as yours OR match the date of your birthday (1-31) to a member on the February birthday list.
Happy Birthday! to Bhie(Feb 4) & Becky(Feb 13):
Romancing Mister Bridgerton by Julia Quinn 02/05/13
03. Geography: Read a book whose author, character, or setting is from Israel. Other options: You may also read a book set in the Middle East. Israel is (in)famous for religious and political strife. Thus, you can also read a book about religion or politics/politicians or with characters in the armed forces. The national flag of Egypt is blue and white - you may read a book with a predominantly blue or white cover.
The Lady Most Willing...: A Novel in Three Parts by Julia Quinn, Eloisa James & Connie Brockway 02/08/13
04. Groundhog Day (Feb 2): In the movie Groundhog Day, the Bill Murray character is doomed to relive the same day over and over again, leading to shenanigans, laughter, tears, and ultimately, a life re-examination. Read a book involving life-altering choices or time, either time travel, a time loop, or a historical/futuristic/non-contemporary time.
The Star Princess by Susan Grant 02/13/13
05. Superbowl Sunday (Feb 3): Are you ready for some footbaaaaaall! Here in the States, Superbowl Sunday is practically considered a holy day for some: whether you're an actual fan of the sport, the half-time show, or the commercials XD. Read a sports-themed book: athletes, sportscasters, sports reporters, agents, etc. Or if you're like me (most of the time) and just like to watch the half-time show and commercials, read a story where the character is a musician or involved in the entertainment or advertising industry.
Hot Finish by Erin McCarthy 02/04/13
Ember's Kiss by Deborah Cooke
07. Valentine's Day (Feb 14): Read a book with hearts on the cover or a book about high school/college sweethearts, or young love (yes, YA counts).
