what is it about i feel like its just going to be an average story. Im very doubtful and feel like the book has just obtain a high rating because if who wrote it rather than the context of the book. and how steamy is it?

Definitely worth reading. I wasn't sure about it either. But after I started I couldn't put it down. Great story, emotional, and will keep you guessing.
A must read! I'm tearing up just thinking about the book! I couldn't put it down!

Have you read any of her other books?This is certainly not an "average" story. It is quite shocking in parts and you should have a look again at what the reveiws are saying (and not just on Goodreads)I would suggest that the book is getting 5 stars because of the story, plot and not just who wrote it. It also depends on what you like to read and what you want from the book. Its worth reading and I hope you do.
Definitely worth a read. I haven't read any other books by Colleen Hoover but I'm glad I picked this one up.

I LOVED THE SLAMMED BOOKS... this one is 100% better than those books...and those books were pretty awesome! So, no... you should read the book! It's completely AMAZING!

YES, I recommend reading both Slammed and Point of Retreat.

No, you're good. I get that you don't want to waste you time on a book that has a high rating only to find that it's been completely hyped and is actually complete and utter crap. Colleen Hoover is a wonderful writer and ALL three of her books are WONDERFUL. And I highly recommend them. Yes, there is some "Steam" in this book, but, for me, it was more about the story than the sex.
Read it... Its wonderful.. It is an intense romance with so much emotion... It is one of those books you have to keep reading once you start you cant put it down.. For 3.99 it is worth it.. I mean I giggled, teared up, threw my hands to my head and when it was over I was just like wow.. that was an amazing book.... a crazy heart-wrenching story but an amazing book...
Read it... I read it in one day. I stumbled on the book while searching on my Nook. It was inexpensive so I bought it. WOW! What a good deal! This story takes you on an emotional ride.

This book is A-MAZING!! Seriously, stop what you are reading right now and read this book!!! You wont be disappointed. The high rating is legit...it really is that good.
Read it, I don't think you will be sorry that you did. It is an amazingly emotional story and not your normal instalove teen romances. There are twists and turns throughout and such a character build that you won't regret it. I understand not wanting to waste your money on a mediocre read but I assure you in my opinion, this is not!
I LOVE Colleen Hoover's books, but to me, this one was THE BEST! I LOVED IT! So many books fail to make an emotional connection with the reader, but in this case, I was hooked from the beginning. I couldn't put it down. AMAZING READ!
This was her best novel and by far better than Slammed, which I really liked, but didn't fall over myself about. You can check out my review of the book, I was blown away. Not only is there steam but it's mind-blowingly beautiful and again, I'm not a super girlie girl you can trust the rating, BUT the big question is....are ya gonna read it after all these comments? ;)

I don't like to be tormented, heart broken, betrayed and then bawl my eyes out over a book. I found a lot of reviews claiming that this would happen, so I almost did not read Hopeless. I was VERY apprehensive, but finally gave in because everyone also commented just how beautiful Hopeless is. I finished it yesterday and I'm still having trouble putting together a coherent sentence about it. I didn't cry, but I was speechless when it was over and yes, it is beautiful!! I'm so glad I decided to give Hopeless a chance and if this is the roller coaster people were referring to, then I don't know what I was so afraid of. Read it!!

It is a great book, it starts out a little slow, but quickly twists and turns. Has some sex scenes but much more to this story. It really makes you think and pulls at heart strings.
Oh my gosh! WELL worth the read. I LOVED IT. I read 350 books in 2012 and it was my #2 favorite book of the year. It is PERFECTLY writen. Yes, I liked Slammed and POR but they didn't make my top 20, Hopeless obviously did at #2. So it's not just a fan loyalty thing. Everyone who I have encouraged to read it has taken the time to write me back to thank me, also saying it's one of the best books they've read. VERY WELL WORTH THE READ!
I read this book before I even read Slammed. I quickly read Slammed after this book because I loved it so much, but found that while it was good, Hopeless was much better! If you found that you liked Slammed at all, then I personal think you should give this one a try! The story was told well and had twists and turns at every page.
I also read over 200 books last year and I have to say Hopeless made it in the top 5. I also read Slammed and POR earlier last year and while I liked them both they fail in comparison to Hopeless. Colleen Hoover really exceeded my expectations with this book. Read it! Read it! Read it! LOL
I would agree that this book was in my top 5. If you liked it, you might really like the Truth series by Aleatha Romig. The book Truth and the second book in the series Consequences were my top 2.

I liked the relationship between Holder and Sky but parts of the book are a bit intense and it is not a happy ever after upbeat love story.

There is definitely a HEA for Holder and Sky. Maybe not surrounding Sky's situation and the details that she found out but if you think about it really what her "mother" did for her afforded her a better life in the long run. I'll admit that it was sad for her to remember all of that and then the details that came out when she visited her father but if certainly ended as well as it could have.
Yep. That's where I'm coming from. I couldn't see why Sandra said there was no HEA.
I guess I could see why she said it's not an "upbeat" story...there are some dark parts to it. But there are also parts that are funny, amazingly sweet and scorching hot. The back and forth banter that happens so easily between Hunter and Sky also lightens the book up quite a bit as well as throwing Breckin in to the mix with his easy friendship with the two.

It's a great book and the best I've read in a while. I didn't even know who Colleen Hoover was when I picked up this book.
Yes, it is worth reading. I did not know what I was getting into when I started reading this book, and can I say AMAZING!!!!!!

Wicked! Won't say we told ya so cuz I totally get where you were comin from. There's been more than a few times I've been tricked into reading somethin that was pure hype. But, lucky for us Hopeless is all it's cracked up to be and more! Cheers :)

Oh god I'm jealous that your only just experiencing this book for the first time now. I would literally give an arm to go back in time just to be able to read this again for the first time. Can't wait to re-read it!!

It's not an average read and if you have read the Slammed series it is of the same genre(older teenagers with issues)but much better story and many OMG moments. This book will stay with me for a while.

This is one of the best books I have read in along time. Everyone is different and some people may not enjoy this book but for me it had me at the first page. Well worth the $3.99 I paid to read it for on my kindle.
