I'm almost finished with NOS4A2 by Joe Hill. In case you don't know Joe Hill is Stephen King's son, and he is a chip off the old block. This story in maddening, in a good way. Just when I think I know exactly what's going on and where the plot is going- there's a twist! I love that! I can't wait to see how it ends, because I have completely given up trying to figure it out.

I have just had my brain worked over by 1984 which was excellent (although really disturbing).
Now I need a YA read for a genre challenge. The group suggestion is The Maze Runner which seems interesting enough. However, having just been put through a dystopian wringer by Mr. Orwell, I could also do with a light, easily enjoyable read maybe with a little romance thrown in. Any thoughts? Go with Maze Runner or something else?

It was SOOO good! and its for book club and they have a lot of discussion questions at the end.

I'd probably try a different genre to dystopian. Sometimes a book can really wear you out. Here's some young adult books I enjoyed. Hope one sparks your interest:

Have you read Legend? It's a great series. :) I would also recommend Cinder (as Katie.g did) for something lighter. Have you already picked something?

Thanks Katie and Kristie! I have read Eleanor & Park and Daughter of Smoke and Bone - both of which I loved. Since you both recommend Cinder I will probably give that a whirl.

I read Mrs. Mike on the recommendation of someone in the other group, which was a coming of age/historical fiction/memoir. It was an easy, enjoyable read (a personal 3.5 - 4 stars) - although the title character made me want to slap her at times. So now I'm ready for some sterner stuff :)

I'm currently reading 2 books, I don't have both in front of me at the mo, but the one I do have is titled:
Soul Cravings Prequel by Erwin Raphael McManus

So far it was mostly amusing and comfortable, but then I got to this one page that was awkward because of my beliefs being different than his. I worked through it though. With my beliefs, you let everyone believe what they want to, even listen sometimes. The other one I am reading is about being Queer, in fact its called Queer.

Hmm, recommendations? If you like Manga I would say read 9 Livers, I adore it!

I finished Queer and Soul Cravings. I'm now reading Alice on my Mind and A Snicker of Magic. Just got into them so I don't know much about them. Another book I would recommend is Myth Conceptions by Pierce Anthony.

I needed one more book to complete a challenge to read Historical (pre-1950) sci-fi/fantasy. I decided to go with a classic: A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court

Next of Sin


Next Of Sin is a fast paced, well written page turner. Beautifully structured in as much as you start off witnessing a murder from the point of view of the murderer, without knowing which character's head you are inside. This is slowly revealed along with the trail of destruction this character has left behind him. And is done in such a way that the book is full of the type of surprises that make perfect sense as soon as they are revealed, even though you didn't see them coming.

The author cleverly weaves the different aspects of the story together, throwing in lots of twists and turns and plenty of nail biting conflict. The main female characters are feisty and likable, though as someone recently said to me about 'Game of Thrones', don't get too attached to any of the characters. You really don't know who will still be alive on the last page.

A great read and one I'd recommend to anyone who likes crime fiction, thrillers or just well-written, edge-of-your-seat drama.

Currently reading a romance novel with ten others on my list waiting for me to start them. I will probably alternate those on the list with ones I have from the library that are not on there yet. I want to read them before they are due back or get holds so I can not renew them.

Hmm, I would recommend everyone in the northern hemisphere pick up a type of gardening book and those that winter is starting, grab a good thick novel and a hot cocoa XD

I'm reading Snuff, The Disneyland Story: The Unofficial Guide to the Evolution of Walt Disney's Dream, and Eating Animals. Not too keen on Snuff, though I've enjoyed Palahniuk's stuff in the past. Wholeheartedly recommend the latter two, though. I'm not a vegetarian by any means, but I'm already starting to feel convicted by Foer's foray into the factory farm industry.

I just got done reading Girl Missing: A Novel by Tess Gerritsen I really loved this book i bought yesterday at walmart and i total couldnt put it down! Great Mystery I think it was one of her early books when it first come out i think it was called Peggy Sue got murder. If you a fan of Tess you should check it out

Just finished ; if you are 18+ (unless you are Scandinavian, where violence is taboo but sex is not...), have an interest in books that are both creative and honest, this is a very interesting cross-over of fantasy, mythology, utopia, erotic romance and Philosophy, with very in-depth knowledge of science, which you do not need to appreciate this book, but which makes the cocktail pretty colourful and unusual.

You have to like to explore and be open minded to like this book.

Hoping to finish up Breed of Innocence and The Lost Hero within the next couple of days. Both of these books are pretty good. However, I'm not loving either one.

Looking forward to reading Wool Omnibus (Silo, #1) in a couple days. I'm also currently reading The Husband's Secret and might try to finish that one first, but we'll see. So far, I'm enjoying it.
