I have the rest of the series winging it's way to me because im not going to be able to stop at book one and I dont want to see the film until I have read them all in case it ruins the experience for me.

Ooh and I love a recommendation so this thread has been fabulous in adding to my collection so far :-)

I'm reading that one as well. I like all the mythological creatures in the book. Reminds me of high school, when I had Greek and Latin classes.

We didn't read about mythological creatures in high school. I did read about them in other books, but it would have been fun I guess to read about them in school.

Rebecca (hobbitual_reader) I just about to start Deadlocked (Sookie Stackhouse, #12) by Charlaine Harris

Northern Lights (His Dark Materials, #1) by Philip Pullman The Subtle Knife (His Dark Materials, #2) by Philip Pullman

I'd also recommend Life of Pi by Yann Martel The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold and A Hunger Like No Other (Immortals After Dark, #2) by Kresley Cole

I am looking for assistance however and would rather state this up front rather than mislead. I am 100% convinced that should any or all of you choose to read “The Continuous Moment of You” there will be no regrets. This 104 page personal journey through a young man’s hard fought life will inspire anyone to carry themselves with a little more pride. YOU WILL NOT REGRET THIS READ. Thank you

I read the book some months ago.
You are right, the topic is quite heavy, as it is about live in one of Mumbai's slums, but for me the interesting and also horizon widening aspects clearly dominate the sorrow.

I'm sorry but this really annoys me. There are loads of promotional threads so why are you spamming this one? I understand authors need to get there book out there but I find it really annoying when it's always in the most irrelevant places i.e this thread, rather than a promotional thread. I think it's rude. Sorry peeps. It's one of those pet peeves lol

Aleka (kalir) Bruna wrote: "I'm currently reading Life of Pi by Yann Martel, just finished A Game of Thrones The Graphic Novel, Vol.1 by Daniel Abraham! Really fun and interesting! :)) I truly recommend it!"

George RR Martin is an incredible writer, he has the uncanny ability of creating plausible characters, regardless of the emphasis that some readers place on that the majority of his work i.e s/f genre. A couple of weeks ago I finished 'Hunter's Run' by GRRMartin, Gardner Gorzois and Daniel Abraham, it was to say the least outstanding, in the writing , plot and topics it covered. The main character was 'hyper-masculine' but that did contribute to the plots development and dialogue.
I haven't read anything akin to Hunter's Run before, I don't know why it isn't recommended more often.

Basically, what I'm trying to say is Hunter's Run is excellent so is Game Of Thrones, for those that have started to or finished reading Song of Fire and Ice Series. Unfortunately it is often dismissed ,on the basis that it is juvenile because it is fantasy.

Pink Wow I like everyone's current reads. I'm working my way through my first Manga books - Death Note. Then I'm going to read a chapter from The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, which I'm enjoying much more than I thought I would. This weekend I might read Rebecca for a group read, although not sure if I'm feeling much like it, so could be The Hobbit instead.

Ashley | 38 comments For those of you who've read the first two Delirium books and liked them then you might be disappointed with Requiem. Unless of course you're like a die hard fan who thinks any ending is good. I don't think anyone who just wants to see what happens should read it. I did and it was a complete waste of time.

Em I've been meaning to , but for financial purposes and book availability haven't read ALMKTH, I got We the Animals instead! I still haven't started that yet. What's the writing style in A Land More Kind Than Home ?

The writing in ALMKTH is beautiful but inconsistant. Passages like:

I stood up from the table and got me a glass from the cabinet and went to the refrigerator for the milk. I sat my glass on the counter and poured the milk until my glass was full, and then I put the milk back in the refrigerator and carried my glass to the table.

make me roll my eyes. What's wrong with "I got up and poured some milk"?

Another issue I had with it is one of the narrators is a 9 year old boy. It is written in first person and the flowery, literary writing doesn't fit in with the way a 9 year old boy would think and act.

It was a decent book but not compelling. I gave it three stars.
