SOS: Serious Overload of Series discussion

Currently Reading 2013
Finished
- 3.5 stars. Didn't quite make it to 4 stars, there was just something about the flow of the writing that didn't feel quite right. Still a good book with characters that felt real.
Finished this
yesterday and I absolutely loved this! 5 starsJust finished
and gave it 3 stars because I thought it was an okay read overall.
Finished
- 4 stars. I stayed up way too late trying to finish this last night because I just couldn't put it down. The author does a good job at creating very emotionally-real characters (perhaps too good - the back-and-forth relationship between the main characters was perhaps a little too real in the sense I wished they were a little less emotionally complex) and I enjoyed the story a lot. I would definitely continue with the series should the author put more books out (I hope she does).
I'm still working my way through the audio of
. Not enough time to listen, but not too sad about it b/c it's making the book last longer. :)Finished reading
, which was a very well-done finale to the series.Reading
- the Shaede Assassin prequel. I'm anxious to start
after that.Ninab, I read Hunting Human a while ago and enjoyed it. I'm happy to see she's making it a series. At the time, it was a stand-alone on NetGalley. I'll definitely check out books in that series.

Have you just read the first one? I liked the first 2 and the third and fourth were meh and I loved the fifth.
Finished
- 3.5/4 stars. I really can't stay away from a werewolf-cowboy combo, especially when that combo is packaged in a quiet-type alpha. Set on another planet that was colonized by humans a while ago, it was nice to visit this fantasy frontier setting. The romance was sweet but I was about ready to throw my kindle across the room the last 10-15%. Without the cowboy/Wild West aspect it probably would have been 3 stars for the hair-pulling ending, but as it is, it makes me smile. Can't help it. :)

Started
. I love the Toby series, I really do but they are depressing to read.
CyberAlmu wrote: "Dragon shifters PNR? Sounds good. Adding it to my tbr. Thanks Sandra!"It is good, I'm enjoying it :)
Hi all! I used to comment in this group as Lisa M. Now I'm back as Lisa Annesley. Anyway, I'm reading
and loving it!
Hi! I just finished
and
and both were very good. I'm about 1/2 way through
and then moving on to
. I have
on deck but I keep putting it off.
was a little boring to me so I'm hesitant to start it.
Finished
- 3.5 stars. I enjoyed the fact that wolf shifters were really the only paranormal aspect of the book which otherwise dealt with real life problems a rancher might encounter. The writing did not feel the smoothest at times, and I wish there was a little more steam though I do enjoy a slow burn romance. The one other paranormal aspect of the book felt a little contrived but it didn't ruin the book for me. What did make me mad? One word - cliffhanger. Grrrr.
Finished three shorts
which were good but, well, short. Also finished
I currently have four books on tap
Lisa M wrote: "Hi all! I used to comment in this group as Lisa M. Now I'm back as Lisa Annesley."Welcome back, Lisa! :)
I've had several days of back-to-back book reading (Yipee) and finished:
All I really enjoyed and rated either 4-5★
,
and
are the final books in a series and I'm going to miss the worlds/characters in each. If you haven't started or caught up with Jane Yellowrock, I'd highly recommend it b/c IMO it's getting better with each book.
: Darian, the h in Shaede Assassin, is both awesome and awesomely annoying. Despite her sometimes smack-a-b-upside-the-head moments, I really enjoy that world/characters and after reading two shorts + a full novel so close together the series is really growing on me. I mean, an assassin who can become shadow, what's not to love? Add to that a sexy djinn. :)
will be out the end of the month, I got the ARC on NetGalley, and LOVED it. The first, The Immortal Rules, was a great read and I think #2 was even better. SO anxious for #3 now. Another highly recommended series, if you haven't started it.
is the first book in a romance series featuring characters who served in the military (USMC & Navy) together, got out, and are building a BDSM relationship (Domme/sub) as they work through PTSD. Very touching and well-written. Looking forward to continuing that one as well.
... be still my beating heart ... Qhuinn and Blay together at last (5★)! The rest of the gobltygook mixed it was okay, but I could'a done without most of it, honestly (3★).
I just finished reading
. I think I'm getting bored with this series, the last 2 have only been 3 star reads for me. It's not that they're bad, I'm just bored. I also read
, which I gave 4 stars. If you haven't read this series, you should. It's really good. I honestly don't know what I'm going to read next. I have
,
, and
on hand, but I think I need something that will shake things up a bit. I'm having a hard time focusing lol.
Finished
and I love to 'hate' Rogue for what he did while Gwen tried to make sense of a reality not her own.

All of you guys are making me jealous! I don't have time to read right now because of school but I pretty much want to read everything that everyone else is reading!
So true, Sarah, everyone looks to be reading some awesome books. Hope you can get back to reading soon :PI'm glad there are a few people out there who aren't too keen on Chicagoland Vampires as well! I'm up to #7 and so far the majority of them have been meh reads for me. I'm not sure quite why I keep going because I know that if it hasn't clicked with me now, then it probably never will.
@Nichole: I've been reading Secret McQueen too - just finished both
and
, between 4 - 4.5 stars. Great urban fantasy series.I've just finished
. I absolutely loved it! I was expecting it to be not so good because of some of the reviews, and you could probably pick holes in certain parts, but it was so addictive! Kind of had an Angelfall-like feeling.
I was a huge fan of Chicagoland Vampires, and I am hoping Chloe Neill takes it back to when it was better. My favorite book was #3. I feel like because of (view spoiler). Here's to hoping the next book is better :)I still have another month to go, then I can spend all the time I want reading! That's what's pushing me to finish haha
Sarah, that is exactly what I think too! But I have a hard time walking away from something that I'm that far into, Hello Anita Blake :)I also added
, I might have to read this sooner rather than later. Maybe it will bring me out of my funk.
Yesterday I picked up the freebie
and loved it so much I've already read the next one
and it was just as good. About to read the next one
I'll definitely be looking out for this author in the future.
I just finished
and gave it 4 stars. The first story was Great! The heroine made me think of Sheldon from The Big Bang Theory. The second story was okay. I also read
and it was 3 stars for me. I'm reading
now. I have yet to read a book this year that blows my socks off. Nothing is standing out as "fantastic, I have to tell everyone I know about it"! I hate that. Maybe next month will be better...

I've just finished
- I haven't been this addicted to a book in a while (even though in some places it was quite slow). It disturbed my sleep, in fact it pretty much gave me nightmares. And after I'd just read the heartbreaking book
! I'm going to go straight onto the second Truth.Hopefully I will go onto some lighter reading soon after getting
from the library :)
Sandra wrote: "Yesterday I picked up the freebie

Little reading done while on holiday, but I did read
. It's not really a prequel, IMO, but I am interested to read more about the sexy Dire wolves. Thanks for the rec. :)I'm listening to
, but haven't gotten very far yet.
Sandra wrote: "Yesterday I picked up the freebie

Val, yes she does seem put upon in the first one, but she is a kickass girlie and wow, wow, wow, later on.

I feel as if it kind of lacks luster now (the Chicagoland series) with me not wanting to give it a chance, but too many rave reviews are having me push forward in the series.
I may actually start reading
