Currently Reading 2013
Hope everyone's 2013 is full of great reads! In typical 'that's so me' style, I started reading
before I'd read
. :/ I'd guessed incorrectly (obviously) which book came first and jumped into the wrong one. You'd think I would'a realized I was a bit lost on some stuff. But, I read #1 in Mar 2011, so there was plenty I'd forgotten. Just figured I'd forgotten more than that I realized. LOL!Now, I need to know ... should I stop where I am (~40% in) and start reading book #2; keep reading #3 and read #2 after; or keep reading #3 and skip #2?
I'm also re-reading
.
Thanks! Me too :DNo worries. I'm really hoping someone can help me though b/c I paused, but really wanna finish reading it. LOL!
SO very typically of me. I even double checked it when I added them to my reader, so I'd know which to read first and still flubbed it up. Damn! I'm leaning towards skipping #2, only b/c I think I now know what happens. But, my OCDemoness can't stand the thought of the gap and I'm sure there are bits to the story that I'd like to read which are included in the bits we're told in #3.
Oh dear, Steph! No doubt, it's happened to everyone - at least when it happened to me, it was HR book so luckily it had different characters! In your situation, if it were me, I think I'd stop and go back to read #2, then carry on where you are. I don't think you'd regret it because I remember (hopefully correctly) that Ames really liked 'Darkness Falls'. Plus, it's not like you don't have the book :)
currently reading
( sobering up so i can start tonight ) . Then going onto
for a buddy read then
for a BOM
I liked #2 much more, so I'd stop and go back. Plus you get a better sense of all the drama in the 3rd book from the 2nd one...as I type that out does that even make sense? Anywho, my vote is to go back and read 2, but I also don't think it would hurt the story too much if you just finished the 3rd one.

, then I would reread it first. Then, read
and then
I still have to read
and I'll finish the series.
All good suggestions ~ thanks! Amy, I remember most of book 1, at least now that I've read 1/2 of #3. I'm going to stop #3, read #2 and then finish the second 1/2 of #3. What a way to start off my yearly reads. Hopefully this will be a one time thing. ;)
I'm trying to clean up my TBR and doing the challenge, so am reading the 2 oldest books on there
and
I added them because they were popular and/or critically acclaimed and I wanted to read more books from that infamous BBC list. I expected them to be a lot more boring than they are for some reason, so I am glad I finally started reading them because so far I love them both!Next up I think it will be either
or
I just finished
(which is techinically a graphic novel so it doesn't really count lol. I am currently reading
, still trying to get through
and have a few others I am paging through and what not...Oh and I also am trying to re-read
..in anticipation for Frost Burned :DLorelle wrote: "currently reading

I just finished
this morning. I really liked it. Have now started
, I hope it's better than the first one, so far it's not bad.

which was amazing! I'm not reading:
I'm not that far into the book yet, but I'm kinda confused on what's gong on in the story at the moment.
Sandra wrote: "Is that good, or bad Val. ROFL. Mine is in the mail, waiting, waiting ........"Well, you can start reading the first 3 chapters on the author's website if you want. I was always fascinated by the demon realm so I got quite a bit of that in this book. Since the actions does not take place on earth the pacing and structure of the story is different naturally.
Is it any good? I liked it a lot even if it got me spitting mad. I can't tell you more because it would go into spoiler territory. Suffice to say that it's different and darker than the previous installments.
First 3 chapters: http://dianarowland.com/TOTD_first_th...
Val, sorry - not reading the 1st 3 chapters as I'd go mad without the rest of the book. LOL.Finished
last night, which was a freebie I won at the author's Q&A at RRRC. A very different take on vampires and I really enjoyed it.

ETA: I wrote a bit more...but it disappeared?!?! Maybe I was too tired last night and hit the wrong key? How weird!
Currently reading
and
Over the holidays I went thru Connie Suttle's BLOOD DESTINY series
.Then moved to the spinoff HIGH DEMON series
I finished
and
. I did pause 3, read 2 and return to finish 3. Glad I read both, my OCDemoness is quite happy too. ;) I rated them all 4★. A really good trilogy. Sorry to see it end. I'd gotten hooked again, especially after reading the two back-to-back-to-back. Recommend it to those who like immortals and want something different from vamps and shifters.Sandra, did you know there's a short out for that series book 1.5
? How's Hunter's Season? I have that one TBR also. Was holding off a bit longer since 6 isn't due until Nov-ish. I'm 1/2 through my re-read of
.Haven't decided which to start next, but debating between:
Grabbed audio of
and hope to start that soon.
Nope, didn't realise there was a shortie, added it :DAs to Hunter's Season, I needed a T & also a Thea Harrison from the literature map so it was a no-brainer.
I keep shoving Shaedes of Gray back on the pile so read that one so I know whether I should get around to it sooner. LOL.
:D Cool! Just spotted it myself, but haven't read #1, so I didn't grab it. See how restrained I am in 2013? LMAO! Yeah, that won't last long. Nice how that worked out.
Yeah, me too. Might go for Genie b/c I could use a funny palette cleanser. ;)
*snort* I've been reading some new-2-me authors from the library (Teresa Medeiros vamps-may have spelled her name wrong, but too tired to even click & search on the "add book/author" link above...)
What challenge are you using literature map for, Sandra? I'd forgotten about that, and it's rather fun!
Ames, your books have such interesting titles!I've been so chaotic with my reading lately, at the moment it's
and
which I'm liking.@Steph: Glad to see you liked the 'Immortal Beloved' series, strangely I found
at the library today so I'll hopefully be reading them as well soon :)I also found
and I'm just wondering if anyone can tell me if the Dacia/main characters are introduced in the 'Immortals After Dark' series because sometimes I see it labeled as a new series and sometimes it's #13 of IAD. I have #9, 10 and 11 on hand, just not 'Lothaire' - do I need to read this one first?
Amy or "Ames" wrote: "Read the brilliant

I had two major criticisms of the book and the presentation of the ideas -- both in my review (I won't spoil it for you here and say what those are). But I fully agree with the concept and the ideas, just not necessarily the complete package by the author.
Listening to
, I like that the villain is behind the scenes. I read her other Dark series which diminished in quality lately but so far I like the Ghostwalkers.
Sandra wrote: "Bummer, shoved back again. ROFLMAO"LMAO! I haven't started either yet. I planned on skimming
and now I'm 1/2 way through it. May go with Shaedes after, we'll see. ;)Hope you like Darkness Falls, Josie. And, I haven't read that far in the series to know about Shadow's Claim, sorry. But, I have seen it listed as the first in a new series - maybe spinoff? I saw the audio at the library and was considering grabbing it, so if you find out whether IAD is a required read before starting it, lemme know.

Happy New Year to all my fellow Series Addicts! I'm happy to see so many posts already in this new thread!I've just finished re-reading
and listening to
. I have to admit that I liked it. At first, the Sookie Stackhouse series was a big disappointment. I don't know when I started growing fonder of it!I'm doing a reread of
for the challenge, and plan to listen to
.
Sandra wrote: "Just finished

better than

I do too Sandra J, I just couldn't read
I thought it was terrible. So I haven't picked up any of hers since then, even though I bought them. Just something about this one appealed so I hope I like it too :D
I haven't read any of hers that don't involve shifters. I'm not real fond of stories involving the fae and most witches (I like Tess though). And since I have no problem bouncing around in a series, I just ignore those. The first one I read of hers was Born To Be Wild which I really enjoyed.
Just finished Iced By Karen Marie Moning loved it so good couldnt stop reading until i was finished now i want to read more karen Marie Moning Books
listening to
and it hasn't taken off yet. I am trying to hang in there but I need for it to pick up soon!
I hear ya, Ezi. I listened to that one too and mainly b/c of some serious GR buddy peer pressure. I ended up liking it, but I was not at all sad when it ended. It's just not for me. I finished
, liked it so much I read
and now I'm looking forward to #3 due out this month. Short, sexy reads. She, Amber Kell, does a great job (IMO) of developing the characters and world-building in such a short story. Wouldn't mind them being a bit longer actually.I also read
, my first purchase/read for 2013. Paid 99¢ for about 35-40 pgs, which I don't normally like to do. But, I really wanted to read Jack's story. Some author's probably would've offered it free on their website since it's a deleted bit from book #1. Oh well. Decent read and look into the why of his desire for revenge. I think I'll give
a go next, Miss Sandra. I'll let ya know how it goes. :)
