Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 652 comments Is that why you guys in Canada are sending some of you snow and cold air down here???? As I said in another thread, if Canada's going to send stuff down I'd prefer bacon and blended whiskey.

message 4660: by Sue (new)

Sue (coccotoro) | 2087 comments As long as I have my coffee, I'm okay, but this has been a bad month in Toronto for extreme cold and snowfall ...but not like Boston.

message 4661: by Sue (new)

Sue (coccotoro) | 2087 comments Yes Aaron, I always have a coffee in front of me, and the pot is always on. I probably make 3 (12 cup) pots of coffee a day, with friends dropping in or work. But I am not a drinker. Occasionally a port or red wine.

Rob Kaufman (rob_kaufman) | 42 comments Hi All!
I'm Rob Kaufman, Author from Connecticut and very excited about our heat wave of 36 degrees today. I have a small marketing company but dream of writing novels full time. So far I've written two novels: One Last Lieand In the Shadow of Stoneand am working on my third. I have a Giveaway pending approval from Goodreads. As soon as I get the approval, I'll pass it on to the group! Nice to meet you.

Sue (coccotoro) | 2087 comments I am usually up late, but can drink a mug of coffee and then go to sleep. My husband gets mad at me for getting up in the middle of the night, and going on the computer, after 3:00A.M. (to see if I have won a book through Goodreads Giveaway.) My excuse is I have to let the dogs out...and then I check my emails, and have a coffee.

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 652 comments Actually I'm more of a tea man. I'm also making the New Coca-Cola Life live hard. Most of the "stuff" that gets me out has been canceled the past 2 weeks...wait that's not correct. ALL of them have been canceled. The leader just canceled tonight's "Small Group" to.

As I said, just say snow and Nashville closes.

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 652 comments Nashville is a bit odd. Where I am there's no ice left, roads are clear. Go southeast of town and the secondary roads are still ice covered.

message 4673: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Haynie (jenniferhaynie) | 2 comments Greetings, y'all! Yes, I'm from North Carolina, the Triangle area, and, precisely, just outside of Raleigh. I've always been an avid reader since I could read. Mostly thrillers and suspense, but I can wander off the reservation on occasion. I'm also a writer of suspense novels. I have one romantic suspense that came out in 2012 (Exiled Heart) via a regional publisher and another that came out via indie publishing in October 2014 (Hunter Hunted) and one due out in April of this year. I've got a husband named Steve and two basenji dogs at home (our "fur children") who keep us guessing. Yep, never a dull moment with basenjis. I also enjoy being in nature and have visited several national parks out West. All in all, this is my first group to be active in on Goodreads, and I hope to be more active in the future.

message 4676: by Lara (new)

Lara My name is Lara Bay. I am a economics, pre-law student with the goal to make it to law school. In the mean time I am trying to get familiar with the stock market so I can make a little profit on my way to law school. I figured a little money might be quiet helpful along the way ;o)

I am originally from Berlin Germany and moved to the United States about four years ago. Currently I live in Fort Worth TX with Brad who is my Marine Corps. boyfriend. I am loving Texas so far however having 10 month of 100+F summer and 2 months of icy winter isn't the ideal place for me to settle so I am setting my settle down place for NYC. City plus beach is the perfect combo.

Welcome to the group.

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 652 comments Hi Roger, welcome. What part of the south?

message 4689: by E. (new)

E. | 653 comments I was a huge Robert B. Parker fan, Spenser being one of my all-time favorite characters. Drifting away somewhere in the late 90's, I did not know that Ace Atkins continued the series after Parker's death, and that, according to the reviews, he's doing a pretty good job.
That's so cool.
Are there other instances where contracted authors continue a series like that?

And of course, HOWDY Roger and others.
Where in the south are you from, Roger?
Texas here.

I have read each of your favorites and love all of them. I can recommend Vince Flynn's books. Edge of your seat thrillers that deal with contemporary themes. Vince died a couple of years ago but his books are definitely relevant to today's international news. Too bad he isn't around to discuss what is happening today in the Middle East.
