Ah! but you do like Game of Thrones. I thought the first Hunger Games was great, but then it goes down hill somewhat. I'd also say it's more dystopian than fantasy.

Yeah, true enough. Have you read the Hunger Games trilogy? I have them sat on my Kindle but I honestly can't see myself going there, they were freebies. Found the whole premise quite depressing and cruel.
All true, Dominic.I have read the trilogy, Janet. I thought the first was great, but the other two could have been better. An enjoyable read, if you already like that kind of thing, otherwise, I'm certain there are tons more books out there that you would get more enjoyment from.
I haven't undeerstood why most of fantasy or sci fi is about end of the world or some kind of survival mission.

Hi, I am Martha and live in the Fingerlakes Region of New York State. I spent the last nearly 40 yrs in healthcare but am now a library assistant in a small town library and love my new career. I enjoy mysteries especially quirky ones and love reading Preston and Child. Those books I can't put down! I also enjoy books about people my age and books concerning life in the early part of the twentieth century. I look forward to exploring with all of you!

Thanks, Paula! :)I do read while it's in the oven, but I've also been known to read while mixing and kneading (family members get annoyed with having to turn the pages for me!)

I learnt early on that if you lay a sheet of clingfilm over the Kindle, no baking gets in the book!

...humm, I've tons with coffee rings. I can imagine that books you have to, discard would be worse.

Thank you for the welcome! I too bake and read but the reading is only between putting sheets of cookies in the oven and taking them out again. I am way too messy as a cook to let my books get anywhere near my prep area. Disaster would not be too far away. :-)

I confess I get a little squeamish when I find unknown/unidentifiable things and stains inside library books.
{{shiver}} I've been the same way with library books. Just watching what gross things people do coming and going from my apartment building. Really scares me if I think about it to much when it comes to library books. That is why I try to borrow ones I can download to my Kindle.
