Oh, Melanie, that sounds so heavenly. I need to stay very close to home because of my elderly parents and failing older kitties.
MN Chris
Sorry to hear your kitties are ill, Christine.

Hi Melanie, I'm a walker too and will often stroll the three miles into Eastbourne just for the sake of an hour's peace with a good audio book. I find it doesn't matter how grey the British skies are if my book is transporting me to India or Japan or .... !

I quite liked Accidental Tourist but it took me a long time to start to care about the characters. The Clock Winder is probably my favourite Tyler book so far. I read it a few months ago. I've still got loads of her back catalogue to discover though

I'll add The Clock Winder to my to-read list. Thanks for the recommendation, Steph. I love Tyler's writing style.
The movie The Accidental Tourist was good but the book was better. Gotta love Miriam.

I've been wanting to read the Nesbo books. Loved Larson.

My name is Armando and I am from Madrid, Spain. I want to thank Sean the invitation to this fantastic group , and although my English is not very good, I will try to participate here as far as possible .
I am an avid reader of thrillers since I was young. My favorites are Katzenbach , Baldacci , Patterson, Grisham, Preston & Child (I love Pendergast!!) , Cornwell, Connelly, Larsson and others. And of course, Stephen King, although his books aren't usual thrillers.
I graduated in IT and Telecoms Engineering in my home town and for nearly a decade I worked in the technology sector, until five years ago I decided to turn my career on its head, seeking a profession that would enable me to improve my quality of life and above all make time for my great passion: literature.
I have now published several thrillers written in my mother tongue, all available on Amazon. In June 2014, thanks to the international success of my crime thriller in Spanish, "El color de la maldad", Thomas & Mercer will publish the English version of this book, to be entitled "Color of Evil", available to preorder on Amazon right now.
Best regards.
Welcome Fos and welcome Armando,
Virtual girlfriend of Michael Connelly, can you invite him here to do a Q & A... LOL
Armando... your English is better than my Spanish !

Bienvenidos Armando. Mi Espanol es no bueno, pero voy a comunicar con usted esa manera.

Well, two of them ages 15 and 16 seem to be slowly progressively losing weight without a firm diagnosis. The vet is guessing the 15 yr old, Jody Jill, has chronic pancreatitis. 16 yr old Keisha may have some similar inflammatory issue, but this is murky. We do know her liver tests are high. It's a challenge to get them both to eat enough, and I offer them food many times daily and once during the night. Topsy, who is 12, has bladder cancer. The chemo killed her kidneys so she has renal failure too. I give her subcutaneous fluids twice a day; thankfully she is eating well. The other 4 guys have various issues, but aren't as overly dependent on me as the others. This is the sad part about having animals, but to me it is definitely worth it. Thanks for asking, Sue.
Chris

Christine: My last 5 Star read was A Patchwork Planet by Anne Tyler, but it's not a thriller, more observations on dysfunctional family life.

Steph, thanks so much for these recommendations. I haven't read any of these authors, this is great! In regards to Anne Tyler, next to thrillers I like dysfunctional family books. I don't know a lot of those authors yet so am pleased to hear about Anne Tyler.
Steph, have you read any of the following? These were all 5 star for me: Now You See Me by S.J. Bolton, The Surgeon by Tess Gerritsen, A Drink Before the War by Dennis Lehane, and Iron Lake by William Kent Krueger. All 4 of these are first in series.

MN Chris,
What we do for our animals. I had a rottweiler with severe hip dysplasia, who gained 2 good years of life from stem cell therapy. It was 2 years we cherished. She's gone now, but we can say we gave her our best. After years of having at least one animal on rx meds, we now have two pups, age 1 and 2, that are in perfect health. It seems odd sometimes, not to be giving someone his/her meds.
Wish your kittens well.
Cynthia

I totally get that, Sue. You really can work up a good worry about these little guys!!

She is currently sitting on the kitchen table with me, overseeing my typing!
Chris

HAHA. Same here. Often 3 cats sprawled horizontally. I have one, Jody Jill, who will wail at the bottom of the stairs in the middle of the night until I come carry her up and put her on my pillow. Then she buzzsaws in my ear for an hour or so!

Bless your heart, Chris. Have been thru this with my cats. The things we do for our beloved furbabies.
I am so lucky....Charley is three and Blu is 2. Both totally healthy right now. It's 3:40 a.m. Both had to go wee........Charley wanted to go to bed with his daddy.........Blu is sacked out on her bed. Both are so well behaved, it is scary. Kids were good....but not this good.
Best of luck to you........we're always here for you.....

Thanks, Ter'e. It helps a lot to talk to other animal people. And so many on the Our Pets thread!
Chris
Ooh, don't think I've read any of those, thank you. Have read some Gerritson, but I'm terrible for reading series-es out of order. I get most of my books through swap shelves so frequently start in the middle!

Oh yes, that's what I thought!

My aunt and cousins live in Tampa. Great area.
