Just a quick update here, as you will see one of our newest members I invited here is a author of thriller books, two.

Laurie Stevens.

We welcome another author to our group, and also pleased to announce that Laurie has offered to do a Q & A for the group in the near future.

We now have at present three Group Read Q & A, Mark Sennen on Tuesday, with Tom Bale and Laurie Stevens, and later Brian Freeman !

More I am waiting to here from, authors are hearing about this great site.

Hi,

My name's actually David, though I'm writer of thrillers under the pseudonym Tom Bale. My favorite writers include John Sandford, Lee Child, Simon Kernick, Denise Mina, Graham Hurley, Carol O'Connell, Mo Hayder, Martin Cruz Smith, Graham Greene, Hemingway, Stephen King (sorry, this list could go on for hours!)

I've written a couple of standalone thrillers that feature ordinary people pitched into terrifying situations - I guess in the Harlan Coben / Linwood Barclay sub-genre - and also two books in a series featuring a former undercover cop, which is my attempt to write a Jack Reacher style series set in the UK. The elevator pitch for the first in that series, TERROR'S REACH, was basically "DIE HARD on Sandbanks" - a ludicrously wealthy enclave on the south coast, which has some of the most expensive real estate anywhere in the world.

I live in Brighton with my family, and I'm currently working on two other books. I've also dipped my toes in the waters of self-publishing, with a book called SINS OF THE FATHER, under my real name, David Harrison. It took me by surprise last year when, during a free promotion, it went to No. 1 in the UK Free in Kindle charts.

I recently enjoyed APPLE TREE YARD by Louise Doughty and a book of short stories by John Ajvide Lindqvist. I have a weird habit of reading two, three and sometimes four books at once - and I'm not just an avid reader but an amnesiac one: even if a book enthralls me, a few days later I can barely remember a single thing about it!

message 1078: by Harriet (new)

Harriet Pike | 4 comments Living in California,I love writing and reading dark thrillers. My first published novel is "Enemy in the Garden," a toxic mix of anti-Semitism and anti-government activity in the U.S. and how it destroys the lives of one suburban family. Topic is very timely after a zealot in Kansas gunned down three (non-Jewish) people at two Jewish facilities he targeted. I welcome reviews, followers, comments on my blog, and, of course, readers of book, available on Amazon as paperback and Kindle ebook.

Terri wrote: "Hi TomDavid ;p ! Great to have you in the group! I'd love to hear more about some of your books what's your most recent? What else do you do besides writing? I look forward to getting to know you b..."

Thanks, Terri. THE CATCH is my most recent book, and it's a thriller that looks at friendships gone sour. It's also a story inspired by collisions - real and metaphorical - and the way our paths can sometimes cross with very dangerous people.

Away from writing, I read a lot, and I spend far too much time online! I also cycle, and I love to swim in the sea as much as the UK climate allows. I'm lucky enough to write full-time at the moment (though for how much longer I'm not sure - it's a very precarious business to be in!)

message 1091: by Kim (new)

Kim | 1 comments Thanks so much for the invitation, Sean. And hello, everyone!

I've been on Goodreads since 2007 because I love to read, of course, but now I'm an author, too.

My books are thrillers that lean toward the "caper" or adventure genre, with a heroine who's a professional jewel thief. Think Ocean's Eleven meets Stephanie Plum. Or, as my publisher likes to describe them, Entrapment meets Indiana Jones.

My first book, A Beautiful Heist, was published by Kensington last year, and the sequel, A Magnificent Crime, is due for release on June 5, 2014.

A Beautiful Heist (Agency of Burglary & Theft #1) by Kim Foster A Magnificent Crime (Agency of Burglary & Theft, #2) by Kim Foster

I'm also a member of the International Thriller Writers, which means in July I'm going to Thrillerfest in New York, where I get to hang out with Lee Child, Steve Berry, Lisa Gardner, David Baldacci (!)....so...excited...

Anyone else coming to Thrillerfest?

Harriet, unfortunately that incident was literally in my own backyard. My husband had just left the JCC when the shootings started. A real wake-up call in a normally quiet suburban area.
