Hello -- my name is Chris! Nice to find ya'll. Thrillers are my jam, with a definite lean toward action-adventure/action-thriller. Early Tom Clancy, Dan Brown, Lee Child... fun stuff. Lately, I've been on a street crime kick... so a lot of Elmore Leonard. Speaking of street crime, I just stumbled across a mint-condition, way-early edition of Pursuit by Richard Unekis -- so I'm looking forward to sharing that with the group!
Hello and welcome Christopher,
my favourite is action thriller
You will see my favourites on one of my posts...

Hi Everyone, I think, I've found the right group. I read and write action thrillers. I've had a look through the discussions. Some great ones. I will join in on some of them.
I am a Canadian, living in London, Ontario, Canada. I had a varied career where I was everything from a river logger to a medical device distributor. In the latter role, I spent about 20 years in surgery most days of the week.
I've been retired and writing for a few years now. I will add more information in other folders.
Glad I found you.
Hello everyone. My name is Mickii and I’m from New York. I am 18 years old but turn 19 in August, woo! I love to read books especially mysteries/thrillers. I’ve never been a part of a book club so this is my first time. Because of Covid I’ve been really depressed because I’m always stuck in the house so I felt that by joining a book club maybe this will help me mentally and get some friends as I don’t have any. Anyways, nice meeting you all!

Great to have so many young people who love to read books joining up to discuss books, etc.
Sorry to hear you are going through tough times re the Covid lockdown but looks like NY is doing relatively well at the moment. Hopefully it will only get better and better and you'll be as free as a bird!
I live on the other side of the world in Melbourne, Australia. We thought we were just about over it but things have really got bad, and we have gone into strict lockdown for the next six weeks and the way things are looking, could be for a lot longer with even stricter guidelines. Truly bizarre (and tragic) times!
Hope you find the group fun and I'm sure you will find loads of new friends on the site. Book people usually have a lot to chatter about!
Welcome Mickii
and welcome all new members.

Hi, my name is David Steinman. I'm an economist and the author of Money, Blood and Conscience, a political thriller about Ethiopia's democracy revolution. I was an adviser to that revolution for 27 years. I also exposed the Ethiopian dictatorship's mass murder and theft of $30 billion from famine victims in the Washington Post, Forbes and the New York Times. I was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize.

50 year secrecy rule
The Committee does not itself announce the names of nominees, neither to the media nor to the candidates themselves. In so far as certain names crop up in the advance speculations as to who will be awarded any given year’s Prize, this is either sheer guesswork or information put out by the person or persons behind the nomination. Information in the Nobel Committee’s nomination database is not made public until after fifty years.
Further from the Q & A section
What does it mean to be nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize?
Any person or organization can be nominated by anyone eligible to nominate. The Norwegian Nobel Committee has no say in submissions that arrives according to the criteria, strictly in who is actually awarded the prize in October. To simply be nominated is therefore not an endorsement or extended honour to imply affiliation with the Nobel Peace Prize or its related institutions.
Welcome David but I am interested in knowing how did you know you were nominated?
Aditya wrote: "David wrote: "Hi, my name is David Steinman. I'm an economist and the author of Money, Blood and Conscience, a political thriller about Ethiopia's democracy revolution. I also exposed the Ethiopian..."Hi Aditya, and thanks for your comment. You are correct about the Nobel Peace Prize nomination process insofar as you stated. In addition, while the rules bar the Committee itself from disclosing nominees, qualified nominators are permitted to inform nominees of their nomination. It's a common practice in fact. Here, for example, is a link to a Guardian article publicizing the nomination of environmental activist Greta Thunberg: https://www.theguardian.com/world/201...- thunberg-nominated-nobel-peace-prize. Similarly, in my own case, the qualified nominator informed me of my nomination.
David wrote: "Hi Aditya, and thanks for your comment. You are correct about the Nobel Peace Prize nomination process insofar as you stated. In addition..."It must have been a fascinating experience, though it surely would have involved a lot of struggle. Congratulations on the nomination and best of luck with your book.

Thanks. Do you know if any group on here, has a place to review scripts or get feedback on them?
My name is Diana and this is my first-ever Goodreads group! I live in the US and thrillers and "creep reads" are my favorite reading genre. Can't wait to get a ton of great reading recs from people who love gripping, dark reads as much as me! Thanks for having me!
hi everyone, I'm desire. I love to read mystery thriller and ... whatever. that's all, I guess. Thanks for having me
Hi! My name is Malinda, I'm 41yrs old and reside in Pennsylvania. My unconditional love for Reading started at age 2, IF my Mother can be believed. Lol. Seriously though, I have been an avid reader for a long as I can remember, I can still remember my 6th grade teacher bringing me in books from her own personal collection for SSR hour (Silent Sustained Reading) because I was reading so far ahead of my age group. It was in Middle School that I realized that I enjoy nothing more than a good Thriller, as well as Horror. I must thank R. L. Stine for introducing me to a Genre that I enjoy more than words could describe. I've been looking for a good Book Group for quite some time now and I have a feeling I've finally found out here. Sadly, it seems as if I'm the only person amongst both Family and Friends that actually reads and appreciates books, with the exception of my Son, age 16, whom I successfully passed on my love of reading to. Though we speak to each other often about what the other is reading, our preferred Genres are quite different... He loves Fantasy/Sci-fi but no matter how many times I try to read a book he particularly loved, I've never made it past the first 5% of the book. Don't get me wrong, I love our conversations and how animated he gets when telling me the plot of his current read and he genuinely likes to listens to what I have to say, but it's not the same as having like minded people to talk to about books. Most nights I will either actually read an entire novel, other times it may take me a week to read a book... Depending on what's happening on the Home Front. I'm currently a Stay at home Mother to my youngest Daughter who is now 4yrs old. I've never had the privilege of being an at home Mom with my first 2 Children, but when I was given the surprise of finding out I was pregnant at 38 and with TWINS, my fiance was very supportive of my desire to quit my job. It's the first time since I was 13 that I haven't had a paying job. Very sadly, I suffered the loss of one of my Twin Girls when they were only 2 months old and it has fundamentally changed me as a Person. I used to be VERY social with a lot of friends. Today, I literally don't have any relationships outside of my fiance, Children, Mother and my Brother. So, joining this group is actually very exciting for me and I look forward to learning about new Authors and how other people are Enjoying what they are reading or have read. Reading is LITERALLY the only thing I have that is just for me at the moment and I am happy with that because the rest of my time is spent cherishing every moment of raising my youngest. So, my reading time is every single night after I've put her to bed. My other 2 children including my 20 yr. Old Daughter and my 16 yr. Old Son that I mentioned earlier (yeah, so to say my Twins were quite a surprise is an understatement.. Lol. I think that's pretty much it about me. Sorry if I am rambling or have gone on too long, but I am very excited about getting to know a little about the members of this group!
