Hi Janet, I am feeling very welcome!
Yeah I'm quite fair skinned so will probably start hiding soon!

Hey, things are well here. Just another day at work for me. By day I am a training officer for a large healthcare system police department. By night, I write my Christian thrillers. Today at work is just another day.

Damn! I need a cool nighttime alter ego!

I use Wordpress and always like to freshen the theme on it every so often. Just suddenly feels more modern every time I do it, even if I swap back to an already used theme

lol thanks Amber!

Be that as it may, Jason, I still have NOT forgotten my first love, musically speaking: Classical. Although decent, this really ISN'T a full performance of the 1812 as a true full performance also includes an adult choir AND a children's choir as well as the cannons and church bells.
The sprightly sounding parts that include tambourine are the parts that also feature the children's choir in a true full performance. This rendition is by the Budapest Philharmonic Orchestra. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VbxgY...
I also have a metal guitar rendition by 331 Erock. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BodeA...

I love a good thriller from time-to-time and will take a look at your recommendations. Looking forward reading w/ y'all :D

Have fun here.

that we are!!

I am pretty new to goodreads but I look forward to connecting with other passionate readers and getting recommendations for new books. The community is much more vibrant than I had anticipated, and you all seem very nice.
Don't be afraid to send me a friend request! I don't bite, I swear.

Been lurking in the group for a few weeks, but thought I'd introduce myself from down under. Always keen for good book suggestions, though I'm mostly an audiobook man.
Great to be a part of the group.
Cheers. Geoff

Again welcome and enjoy,
Paula

Again welcome and..."
Thanks Sean, great to be a part of the group!
Thanks Rebecca!
Hi Paula, thanks. I get through about three audiobooks a month, and absolutely love them!
I really enjoyed Pines, by Blake Crouch. Great narration and brilliant story.
All the Jack Reacher books on audio are excellent, but I like the Dick Hill narration. The others just don't do it for me. I think the narration rights vary from country to country, so not sure who you can choose.
I've just started on the Bosch series, again with Dick Hill narrating, and I'm into book 2 now and enjoying it. (But not as much as Reacher)
Stephen King's Mr Mercedes with Will Patton was awesome too, but I wasn't so keen on book 2, Finders Keepers.
But I must admit, despite being in this group and loving the thriller genre, I listen to all sorts. I'll give you a quick list of my favs, take it or leave it.
I Am Legend for a bit of horror.
For a brilliant alien invasion, Fear the Sky.
For Urban Fantasy, The Dresden Files with the masterful James Marsters narrating.
For dystopian, Hell Divers.
For fantasy that anyone would enjoy, Guards Guards by Terry Pratchett.
For superhero Brandon Sanderson's Reckoners series.
There's more, but I better stop. As you can tell, I love audiobooks!
Cheers
Geoff

Thanks for the suggestions. I will give some of them a try. I just finished reading Finders Keepers. Might give Mr Mercedes a try as I like Will Patton.

Paula, David Baldacci's books in audio are great. It has real live action, bombs going off and bullets whizzing by. First time I listened to one of his books on audio, I was walking down my steps with a basket of laundry and nearly fell half way down when hearing bombs!!
It took me a while to get into audio myself and some books are just better when you read them yourself.

Thanks Lorrea, I like David Baldacci's books so I might give one of them a try. I always prefer reading a book but when I'm in a car I can't read so I thought I would listen.
