Greta wrote: "@ Rachmi, Neil Giman is awesome! Have you ever watched the some of the commencement addresses he's been asked to give at different universities. very inspiring!"Yes, he is such an awesome author. One of my favorite authors, his writing is kind of odd but in a good way. I've watched his Make Good Art commencement, I forgot where he did it. And agree with you it was very inspiring.
And the latest I watched and/or read was his "Why our future depends on libraries, reading and daydreaming" which he spoke for The Reading Agency. I agree with all of things he said, in fact there was one thing that so true because it once happened to me. I feel like I have to thank him for that. Have you watched it?
I think I'd kill for some snow (not exactly a blizzard, as I've read how nasty they can be). I'm cooking alive here (and being eaten alive by the mosquitoes...)
Tatiana wrote: "I think I'd kill for some snow (not exactly a blizzard, as I've read how nasty they can be). I'm cooking alive here (and being eaten alive by the mosquitoes...)"i think tomorrow it's supposed to be 17 degrees Farenheit here.
I never saw snow my whole life and have a cold allergic. I guess I can't survive in winter :D or if I have to visit country with 4 seasons I definitely have to take my medicine :)
Tatiana wrote: "I absolutely LOVE the cold. The heat makes me so lethargic... Not to mention the blazing sun..."sorry Rachmi ,but I agree with Tatiana. The heat kills me. It just makes me so irritable, and I hate sweating.
Gosh, don't get me started on sweating LOLHere, it's so hot and humid that you start sweating as soon as you step out of the shower... Disgusting...
Hmm, I find it really difficult to decide whether I prefer hot weather or cold weather. I'd prefer it if we just had a nice 27 degrees celcius all year round. It's nice when you don't have to wear a coat, and don't have to have the heating on. But you don't want it too hot ☺ I'm fussy.
Sarah wrote: "Hmm, I find it really difficult to decide whether I prefer hot weather or cold weather. I'd prefer it if we just had a nice 27 degrees celcius all year round. It's nice when you don't have to wear ..."I love that sort of whether too. :) I hate it too hot or too cold.
Call me weird, but the cold wind, that wind that chills you to your bones, no matter how many layers you're wearing, makes me happy...
I think you're closer to Disneyland than I am. I think people get confused over disneyland and disneyworld though, its not obvious that disneyland is in paris.
Hannelore wrote: "It's a 3 hours ride to Disneyland :D and we do t have fudge here, it's such a shame!"If you see Goofy, can you tell him that he mentally scarred 4 year old me at alton towers, please? Haha.
Hannelore wrote: "I've been there already, but I didn't see him. You're scared of Goofy? How did that happen?"I was when i was 4. Him and Donald was at Alton towers (amusement park) and he hit me on the head (by mistake, but you know, i was 4.) and because i went crying to my mum, he chased me. After that, every time i seen him that day i cried.
Some of those people in costume are freaking creepy. I always wonder what they're wearing underneath, and I hate that you can't see their faces. yuck. like a bad horror movie.
"Can you give us a description fo the person who attacked you?"
"Definitely. It was Goofy."

He tried to pick me up when caught me as well. It was proper scary for a 4 year old.
I've always thought they were creepy for the same reason.
It gives me the creeps to think that there could be some bloke leering at kids under the costume.
Hannelore wrote: "Went to Disneyland yesterday :) so lovely! We ate there this delicious thing we don't find anywhere here in Belgium! Anyone great recipes for this fudge thing?"You don't have fudge? Bummer! Fudge is one of my favorite treats. I have a yummy recipe for peanut butter fudge if you want it :)

I never thought about it like that before, but I will now. Eww
Yikes!!! next time i see some giant cartoon, I am going to steer clear!!I came up with this awesome idea for my friends' birthday gifts (they are twins) but I ran out of felt supply! I am now sitting with a needle threaded, feeling 10 kinds of angry for not stocking more! I hate leaving the house to buy small items!! :'(
Getting ready to have my heart broken... On a request spree on NetGalley, but I doubt I'll get anything.

I couldn't decide about streaks of blue because of that bit that says - How the Angels of Newtown Inspired One Girl to Save Her School
You'll have to let me know how it goes!

And I also created an account at Edelweiss. Requested a bunch of books from there too.EDIT: my memory is terrible. Also got Endless and Mafia Girl from NetGalley.
I've read several bad reviews for both of those. you'll have to let me know what you think. I'm trying to not request more at the moment because I'm trying to decrease my review pile so I can do more buddy reads. I'm really tempted by
cause it has such a pretty cover. Got
from edelweiss this morning ☺

I think I requested Royally Lost from edelweiss. As for The Rising, the cover is gorgeous, but I'm not sure I liked the blurb...
I read the authors other books and they were pretty good. The blurb put me off a bit with this one too though. The cover is just so pretty though!
I just signed up at NetGalley and still don't know much about it. Any tips? What should I do to get more chances of being approved? What do I, as a newbie, have to do first? Or whatever you can tell me about the site and how it works. It would be really helpful and appreciated. Thanks so much. :)
At Netgalley publishers want people who they know will review the books in a timely fashion if they approve you for the book you're requested. The best way to show this is if you download a couple of the 'read now' titles, read them, and submit reviews. Once you get over that first hurdle, you're much more likely to get approved. Also, make sure that you have as much in your profile to 'sell yourself' as possible. Include links to your facebook, twitter, goodreads, blog (if you have it). Follower numbers are also a good thing to add - so followers on facebook, goodreads, twitter etc also.
It's also good to state that reviews will be published to amazon, B&N, goodreads etc too so that publishers know that you will cross-post the review ☺
Good luck and feel free to ask any more questions ☺

So, the moment I add a 'Read Now' to my shelf, is it like already counting how long I'm going to review it?
I don't think it counts time exactly like that, but if you go to your profile there is a bit where it lists your stats - how long you've been a member, how many books you've been approved for, and your 'Recommended Feedback to Approval Ratio'
This is the most important thing, and should be kept above 80% to continue to get approvals. Its so that people don't get approved for hundreds of books and never review any of them.
Once you get a 'read now' title, your figure will be 0%, when you've reviewed it, your figure will be 100%, and so on. The more books you've read and reviewed, the less your figure will drop each time.
Does that help?

You don't have fudge in Belgium?
I've never been to Disneyland, only to Disneyworld.
