The whole series is really good ☺ You should read them ☺

message 4159: by Inês (new)

Inês | 583 comments I hate bugs! I think that's one of the downfalls of summer. I guess someone heard my rant yesterday because it snowed today! I was so happy, it didn't really stick though, but it I enjoyed it nevertheless :) I hope the weather there gets better :)

Inês | 583 comments So I know we have a thread here called The first line of my book is... which I really like, but sometimes I read a phrase in a book that I find funny or like, and I want to share it and stuff. I was thinking that maybe we could create a thread for favorite phrases and stuff from the book we're currently reading or maybe from our favorite books. I don't know, it was just an idea, what do you think? :)

message 4161: by Abi (new)

Abi (abi_gr) | 27659 comments Sounds like a good idea, Ines! :)
I'll put it up now. :)

Jalyn, that's great news! The books have moderate distribution and I'm trying to get the word out. I'd love to hear what you think if you read.

I live in Pennsylvania, and we have a lot of Amish people in my area so these kind of books sell well for us :) I'm currently off of work for the next few weeks for minor health reasons, but I'll have to get a copy when I go back!

I've heard that The Testing (The Testing, #1) by Joelle Charbonneau is a good book for those who liked The Hunger Games, but I haven't had a chance to read it yet, though I want to.

I lived in the middle of an Amish community for about 6 years. The Amish kids came to my horse farm and rode horses with the non-Amish teens and it was fascinating to watch the interactions between the two groups. That's where I got the idea to write Rose and Noah's story. I spend a couple of years gathering experiential knowledge, interviewing the kids and making observations before I tackled the novel. Best neighbors I ever had, but a lot more drama goes on than outsiders suspect. You can contact me on FB (Karen Ann Hopkins) too and let me know your thoughts on the books when read. There is a lot of interest here in northern KY and Ohio, but I'm working hard to get the word out to the YA crowd in other parts of the country.

I didn't think much to the testing, nowhere near as good as the hunger games. This is a good dystopian series - Whispers in Autumn (The Last Year, #1) by Trisha Leigh Winter Omens (The Last Year, #2) by Trisha Leigh

message 4178: by Abi (new)

Abi (abi_gr) | 27659 comments Keith, It's dystopian. :)

I really liked Delirium, but the second one wasn't as good, and the third one i didn't enjoy that much.

The first half is slow, it's worth it though. do you like the writing? i kinda liked the writing which made it easier to get through the slow bits for me.

The biggest problem with the series is the way the author ended the love triangle. not impressed.

message 4186: by Inês (new)

Inês | 583 comments @ Sarah: Agreed. Hated the ending I mean, if you don't know how to handle a love triangle, don't write it. I like the way Lauren Oliver writes, (mostly) but that was just disapointing.

Happy Spring! We haven't made it to spring yet here, but I'm actually ready for it, even though Spring is my least favorite season. We've had a really rough winter here!
