@Melissa- no worries on when you start Deadly Game. I started it and then couldn't put it down. I'll be ready to chat whenever you finish! And I completely agree with you on 2nd Grave. It was okay. I will keep reading in the series, but I'm in no hurry.

I have a one small reminder - please check to see if your profile is public. If it is not, please either add me or another team captain (Rachel, Leslie, Vi) as a friend. We need to see your shelves in order to verify your books. Happy Reading!
Thank you!

I think Gone Girl is one of those books you either really like or you really don't. I am one of the ones who really liked it but it was more about the discussion points afterwards. One warning - I found the first 40 pages really slow but then suddenly it starts to pick up.
Leslie wrote: "Welcome, Layla and Gen! The team is so excited to have you!! Good luck on your exams -Gen. And Layla, I have Assassins Creed on my TBR. Looked interesting. But have to admit that I read Lord of the..."
Thank you!
And I wouldn't recommend Assassin's Creed, I didn't really liked the book. As for Lord of the flies, I can't say it's one of my favorites, but I did like it.

Donna, what Leslie said is pretty much it. Every "buddy read" is a little bit different. Some people arrange ahead of time the chapters they will read each day and take turns posting discussion questions, others are not quite so formal on one or both those points. It sometimes follows along like a BOM here in NBRC, but was a book that didn't win the vote.

And Marguerite, I have A Wallflower Christmas but haven't had the chance to read it. I hope it's good! Let me know how it is!
Katie so far I have read the first 5 chapters and so far it seems like a light read. You know a lot of fluff.

Katie the historical romance books I love is the ones set in the old west here in the USA and old England. They have romance in them but they are mainly history. As in they tell you how people lived back then and what they went through.

As to buddy reads - I completely agree with Melissa. They are great especially with the longer more difficult books (hint:Game of Thrones series)but are also fun with any book. I tend to be very casual about it, but some people are very structured and do questions for the participants. Which is also fun. I'm happy to share what I'm going to be reading if anyone wants to buddy read with me. It's easy to set up a thread.
Leslie the thing about books is some will like them and there will be some that don't. Everyone has an opinion and not all opinions are the same. If everyone's opinion was the same the world would be a boring place.lol, smile
Katie wrote: "Hey Layla! I was just about to tell you how much I LOVED Assassin's Creed: Renaissance but I see you didn't really like it. I'm sorry to hear that. Do you play the video games?"
I play a little, but I've never played the game in wich the book was based, maybe that was the problem.

Completely agree with you, Marguerite! Just didn't want someone to not read the series based on this one book from it. I love hearing all the different opinions about books that people have.

Oh I totally agree with you! I've been getting really into those type of books lately. I took my mom's copy of

And Leslie I will definitely check out the whole Wallflower series since now I know it is one, I had no idea. Should I read them in order? I've read a few of Lisa Kleypas' books and I tend to enjoy them.

@Michelle - what are you studying? My kids always complain that they can't read for pleasure once school has started. It's definitely a challenge. Enjoy the weekend!
@Katie - I love straight up historical fiction as well!! One of my favorite authors is Sharon Kay Penman and another is Elizabeth Chadwick. Both write great books on English history.
And I have New York on my to read list for this year. I love Edward Rutherford! And the Tea Rose series is so good. Loved that as well.
As to the Wallflower series, they don't have to be read in order, I didn't the first time around. It always helps a little, but it's not necessary. They are such fun books.

@Diane-Firefly: Did you like Murder under Cover? Have you read the others in the series?
I just finished Little Women and loved it.
Now I can't decide if I read The Age of Miracles or Cloud Atlas first.

@Leslie -

@Rebecca - Yes, I like that series. I like the characters and learning about bookbinding is interesting. I just picked up the next two books in the series.

Did you ever see the movie? It was so cute!! I loved it.

@Michelle - what are you studying? My kids always..."
I am a double major in psychology and studio art. It is really hard to read for fun when classes have started :/ I meant to start reading hours ago but I've been doing research for a psych study.

I've started

77 Shadow street was an audiobook - I haven't listened to one in a while and wanted to try it out. Audiobooks make me so tired. I don't know if it was the fact that someone was reading a book to me or that I found the book itself slightly boring that made me sleepy. I'll try again with something else soon. Audiobooks are so handy when knitting - I really want them to work.

And Vi, I love historical mysteries. I've heard of the Maisie Dobbs series but never read them.
I have finished several books lately and started some others.
I've finished

The Recruit is my only 5 star read so far. I love Highlander romances and this one is good because the author does great research as well as write a great sexy story.
I am now reading

Happy Reading weekend everyone!!

It really was!! It is one of the series challenges in TCF group. They are all pretty inexpensive on the nook:)
Just finished
. The book started out very dry reading but half way through the book the pace picked up and became very interesting.

@Michelle - bummer it won't count here but I am sure you are glad it is off your shelf. I haven't tackled this series yet - it is on my TBR pile. Now you have to work on A Storm of Swords :)
@Marguerite - Life of Pi is one of those I want to read some day. Have you seen the movie yet?
@Diane ~Firefly~ - Sealed with a Curse seems interesting. I've added it to my list!
You guys are all bad on my to-be-read pile :)
