Valerie | 1 comments What am I not working on! Too many partials... UFOs galore!
Many quilts in all stages. From hand quilting a quilt for my mom, to appliques of Dragons for one quilt and nutcrackers for another, a grandmother's flower garden quilt... and many more.

Knitting a sweater for my daughter.
Cross stitching little kitten ornaments.
Cross stitching my own design of Viggo Mortensen as Aragorn.

too many... but I don't get bored cause I switch out what I am doing. LOL
Now if I could only finish one before I start a new one!!

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads (susannag) | 33 comments A pair of mittens for a 2-year-old. (Have plans for hat, possibly scarf, ditto.)

Have to put buttons on a sweater for his little sister.

Starting a cabled baby afghan.

Need to - oh, the word is escaping me - wet and set (but not felt) a scarf for myself.

block?

wow everyone sounds very busy!
I haven't done much of anything since I finished the Show your Colors shawl for Sheila's Shawls. I started a scarf with a rabbit tracks lace pattern but haven't made much progress. There was frost this morning though so I should "make tracks" and work on it!

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads (susannag) | 33 comments Yes, block was the word!

message 105: by [deleted user] (new)

I just tried blocking for the very first time after finishing up the previously mentioned shawl.

It was interesting.

I've read that you can get a real workout doing it with something like wool!

Hi Brandy and Lolita! :-)
I'm glad you decided to join the group :-D
Both of your projects sound interesting!

I reading The Spirit Ring by Lois McMaster Bujold as well as Ruth by Elizabeth Gaskell.

I hope to get the new knitting mystery Knit, Purl, Die by Anne Canadeo tonight after work and start reading it as well!

I'm working on a crocheted Totoro, a miniature crocheted Homer Simpson, and a crocheted dishcloth.

Over on Ravelry Enchanted Forest group (which is devoted to the writings of Patricia Wrede is starting up a KAL for the books. We are planning afghans and squares from the novels. It's interesting and we've got some great ideas but I haven't started actually working on squares yet.

Kathryn (26kathryn) | 3 comments Hi everyone :)
I'm currently reading Uncanny Stories by May Sinclair, and I'm currently working on some cross stitched bookmarks.

message 112: by Bettie (new)

Bettie I've started my spring knitting pressie programme - fingerless gloves in spring colours with felt flowers sen onto the back. These gloves are wonderful to keep the bulk of the hand warm whilst allowing page turning/clickerty needle capacity.

Also been using up spare cotton to make egg cosies:

Reading-wise I'm listening to The Lives of the Kings and Queens of England

message 113: by Bettie (new)

Bettie

That is really lovely Vorlady!

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads (susannag) | 33 comments Plugging away on a baby afghan.

There's a baby sweater I have my eye on as well.

Oh yes, and mittens for myself.

Reading-wise, I'm working on Wolf Hall and A Year in the Life of William Shakespeare: 1599, principally. Though I have a pair of mysteries waving at me.

I can knit you a pair of mittens and/or fingerless gloves. Just tell me colour preference. I'd love to do that for you.

:O)

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads (susannag) | 33 comments Is blue possible?

message 117: by Bettie (last edited Jan 24, 2010 11:31AM) (new)

Bettie Blue I have - navy blue - is that okay? Nothing fancy just a bog standard.

:O)

I remenber this pair that were so very lovely - did you wear them out?

xx

message 122: by Erika (new)

Erika i have been on a real dishcloth craze. i have made several medallion (round) dishcloths and used the last of each color to make a square dishcloth.

i have been reading science fiction. i am working through the "ender" series by orson scott card and the "colonization" series by harry turtledove.

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads (susannag) | 33 comments Still toddling along on the baby afghan. Like how it's turning out. (Love the yarn color name - "Sugarplum"; a lavender shade.)

Finished Wolf Hall, which I enjoyed, and am on a Kathy Reichs mystery (my brain needed a rest).

message 124: by Stefanie (new)

Stefanie I started working on a scarf way back before it was even cold...it's been sitting in my project bag for weeks. Maybe if I write here that I'm working on it, I'll feel guilty enough to actually finish. :)

thank you!
I just got another crewel project to work on
http://crossstitch6000.home.att.net/c...
it's a rooster on black fabric -- kinda folksy looking--bold and colorful for the winter blahs!

message 129: by Bettie (new)

Bettie That is smashing - and just the right thing to be working on as we head into spring.

I'm on Ravelry as well -- same username :-)
I love it as well!

message 131: by [deleted user] (new)

I've been eying that project for a while now and finally broke down and got it.

I also started crocheting the pouch purse from A Stitch in Crime by Betty Hechtman and I'm designing an afghan square for The Enchanted Forest Afghan I'm making for the books by Patricia C. Wrede -- It's going to be Morwen's garden.

BTW: I love the spring fingerless gloves -- they are wonderful!

Jen (jencroup) I'm crocheting a scarf for my husband. It's a camo looking thing. It's a tan, green, brown and black yarn that has turned out to look camo which is great since he loves camo.

message 134: by Jen (new)

Jen (jencroup) For anyone who is interested Pat Catan's (if you have one around you) is having a Keep America Warm where you donate 7" by 9" squares and they are going to make blankets out of them.

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads (susannag) | 33 comments Have nearly (yes!) finished the cabled baby afghan I've been working on. Yay!

Am reading: Life on the Mississippi by Mark Twain; The Children of Henry VIII, by Alison Weir; Lustrum, by Robert Harris (with revisit of Colleen McCullough's Caesar's Women, to look at a very different coverage of the same period and people).

message 137: by Libbeth (new)

Libbeth (franacropan) | 1 comments I have a few wips on the go but this is the one that has the most progress, Mirabilia's Christmas Flourishes.

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads (susannag) | 33 comments Have now finished the afghan, and am working on a pair of brown mittens with a pale blue snowflake pattern on them, for yours truly.

Reading, among other things, After Elizabeth: The Rise of James of Scotland and the Struggle for the Throne of England and a piece of chicklit on loan from my knitting teacher, The Essential Charlotte.

I swear we swap around more books at knitting. Mostly mysteries and what could broadly be described as chicklit.

I'm working on the Nancy and Judy Shawl http://digitalnabi.com/blog/2010/04/n...
this is another donation for the Sheila's Shawl's & Paul's Scarves organization that provides handmade shawls and scarves to women who have suffered from domestic violence.

Just finished reading the first 7 Tea Shop mysteries by Laura Childs and am now reading A is for Alibi by Sue Grafton and getting read to read The Moonstone by Wilkie Collins. They aren't mysteries, but I'm also reading Dark of the Moon by P.C. Hodgell and Wizard's First Rule by Terry Goodkind.

ETA: oh, I forgot that I also just finished reading Murder on the Rocks: A Gray Whale Inn Mystery, Dead and Berried: A Gray Whale Inn Mystery, and Murder Most Maine byKaren MacInerney.

message 140: by Donnajo (new)

Donnajo Hiya, I'm new to the group. I do needlepoint and was doing knitting but haven't since before the summer so now have to wait to start it again when I go sit at the knitting store to have someone watch me to make sure I remember the stitches I had learned. In needlepoint usually tuesday is the day I go to stitch and chat at the needlepoint store but wasn't in the mood to go today. So will probably take out the needlepoint I'm working on when I get offline. I started working on a small initial monogram canvas that will be put in a insert on a pocket book. That I hope will go fast. have almost 2 of my initials done and just have to do the last one and the background which I started already. The other main project I'm working on is 1 of 4 canvas which will be made into a bear. It has flowers, a hive and probably a bee or two. Just doing plain continental stitches with that since it's a gift. But I don't work on it much at home. I do more reading. romance, mystery, thrillers etc.

message 141: by Donnajo (new)

Donnajo Well I'm trying to knit again. Not working out too well. I already ripped what I'm starting on at least 10 times already. I saw it someplace this weekend at a festival and decided to go to the knitting store to make one myself. It's a neck warmer (really a scarf that is shorter only going around neck then you can put a button on it to close it. the yarn I got is Blackstone Tweed it's mostly black with alittle bits of white. And the first 2 rows of knitting goes fine it's when I go into the rows of knit 4, YO, knit 2 together, knit 2 then back. I keep ending up with a extra stitch. My guess is the yarn I split and that is why it is happening so I get mad rip it all out since I'm not good at ripping out a roll and still have the rest left. I'm blaming the yarn. I should probably try a different type. I wanted something with more than one color. But event he one I have is not what I thought.
I'm also working on needlepoint The monogram is almost finish I hope to finish this weekend. And then I have to buckle down working on the canvases for the bear. I'm close to finishing one of the canvases that has just the two bear paws.

Tracie Lynn | 7 comments Hello,

I am new to Goodreads and this group. I enjoy doing both stitching and reading. I also quilt and scrapbook. I am currently working on several cross-stitches, one being Mirabilia's "Lady of the Flag". I've also been trying my hand at making biscornus. My latest reading kick has been Kathy Reichs. I've recently finished "The Passage" and "Kings of the Earth". I look forward to chating with all of you.

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads (susannag) | 33 comments Well, if I could knit much just now (unhappy muscles in one arm, which I need to rest), I'd be working on a Christmas stocking (Christmas tree with presents underneath), and a Palindrome scarf ( http://www.cometosilver.com/patterns/... ). It's ribbed and cabled, so is identical on both sides.

message 144: by Jeanne (new)

Jeanne (tivey) | 9 comments i am a relatively new quilter but reading tops my list of things to do. just finished the latest in the elm creek quilt series...good story...always a happy ending. but it did give me the push to work a bit on actual quilting rather than just read about it.

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads (susannag) | 33 comments About halfway through a baby bib that's shaped like flower petals. I'm liking how it's coming out.
