Barb I *just finished Mrs. Lincoln's Dressmaker by Jennifer Chiaverini . I liked it, but not as much as I'd hoped I would. It was really heavy on the historical events going on at the same time, which Chiaverini has done before in her Elm Creek Quilts series, but this seemed like she was trying to cram every little tidbit into one book before she ran out of pages. I guess I expected this to be as readable as the Elm Creek books, and I was disappointed that it wasn't. It was, however, well written, and a good story, so I'm not sorry I read the book.

Alexa | 118 comments I changed the name of my shelf, does that mean I have to go back to the challenge box and click update entry and enter my goal again and new shelf name?

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments The A-Team Theme of the Week

*Read a book (or books) that matches the Theme and post the cover.

description

It could be the cover, the title, the author or the concept.

A book that we hated, a book that we loved, a book with a character that makes us dream or drool, a book that make us cry, even the ones that left us feeling nothing or wishing not to read them at all - indifference and regret are feelings/emotions, right?

Happy Readings!

Thanks, I hope that too. There were so many things I wanted to do on goodreads, but couldn't make it :(
I feel that after so many years I should be used by now, but I'm not. Oh well, one day at a time.

Barb Thanks Sonia :)

message 1020: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments Just finished Can You Keep a Secret? by Sophie Kinsella , it's a perfect book for the week theme. I listened to the audio and found myself laughing out lout while cleaning or on the gym's treadmill (quite embarrassing, this last part)
And it had me gaping in shock while exiting the subway this morning.

The narrator was quite good too, alternating between Emma's british accent and Jack's american one.

Yes, Sonia, I liked that one, too. Nicely narrated.

message 1022: by Amy (new)

Amy Just finished The Long Walk by Stephen King earlier today and am currently working my way through The Serpent's Shadow by Rick Riordan and The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold .

message 1023: by [deleted user] (new)

Hey the A-team. I just want to say that I am sorry that I haven't posted in awhile since the RaT. School has been keeping me very busy and I hardly have time to read now. Hopefully, in the summer, I will have more time to read sine I won't be in school.

message 1024: by Stacie (new)

Stacie (thesebooksaremyfriends) I've been reading the Grant County series by Karin Slaughter and feeling all sorts of emotions. Mainly I want to slap a lot of the characters! That's counts I'm sure. Slap therapy!

message 1025: by Mary (new)

Mary (merinwe) | 1043 comments So sorry for being away for so long, ladies. My dad had surgery last week and so things have been a little hectic for me and my family lately. Thank you, Sonia, for holding down the fort. :-D

@ ❥☪LIZZ NEILL☪❥
Loved The Raven Boys! I made my sister read it and she's just finished it. She didn't know there was a sequel, however, so she might be pretty peeved at me.

@ Suzanne
Did you enjoy Seraphina? That was one of my favorites last year.

message 1026: by Alexa (new)

Alexa | 118 comments I haven't been posting much lately either, going to start updating regularly again. :)

Couple of hours ago I finished
Then You Were Gone by Lauren Strasnick

And a few mins ago I finished
Pandemonium (Delirium, #2) by Lauren Oliver

and now I'm reading
Requiem (Delirium, #3) by Lauren Oliver

ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) (ilovebakedgoods) | 226 comments Ohh, Stacie, I just started the Grant County series. What book are you on? I'm just on book 1, page 50 or so. I have yet to want to slap anyone but I recall my sister being equally slap-happy a few times as she read the series, hehe.

ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) (ilovebakedgoods) | 226 comments Not sure if we have had any newcomers to the group in the past week but if we have, Welcome All to The A-Team! Our group leaders (Mary and Sonia) are wonderful at keeping up with our progress, keeping us entertained with various little tasks/games (such as Theme of the Week), and lending their support and encouragement.

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments Good Morning A-Team!!!

So, I was looking at our numbers, and updating our spreadsheet, and I'm happy to announce that we broke the 800 books read barrier!!!

description

Way to go Team!!!!!

Since goodreads takes some time to refresh, I'll post the current numbers in a bit.

Meanwhile, since Real Life was particularly demanding these few weeks, I'll be validating the books during lunch hour (in 2 hours), so, if you have books not valid tagged as the team challenge I'll avert my eyes while you fix those, OK? *giggles*

I am totally kidding, of course all our books are valid, we are THAT GOOD :D

Anyway, I got to go back to work. I'll be back soon.

Happy Readings!

message 1033: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments Hello again A-Team!

Just to say 2 things:

I detected some "irregularities" during the book validation, mostly ebook/kindle or audio editions with no page numbers, I'll check them later with the mods about the page numbers and will PM if needed.

TEAM C:864

I just finished A Great and Terrible Beauty (Gemma Doyle, #1) by Libba Bray

Now, my library is having an event called "Blind date with a book" where a bunch of books were wrapped up in paper, so you couldn't tell what they were. So, all you knew about them was the genre. Very exciting, so I had to participate. The two books I got were Matched (Matched, #1) by Ally Condie and Witch and Wizard (Witch and Wizard, #1) by James Patterson So they will be my next reads.

I did! It took me while to get used to the world, but after that I really enjoyed it! It's nice to read a book where the main character doesn't get all stupid in front of her crush :)

That seems to be "the" thing for libraries to do right now LOL At our staff meeting yesterday, we talked about doing this, too. (Yes, we're a little slow to get behind new ideas now and then *sigh*) I think it's a fun idea, and I hope we eventually DO it :)

Don't worry Nancy, school comes first, you need to focus on what's important at the moment. Besides, you did a great job till now, even with school.

Just pop in once in a while if you can so we don't miss you so much.

Best of lucks with school work.

Requiem (Delirium, #3) by Lauren Oliver
I finished it a couple of hours ago and I just want to say that, I couldn't even put it down and I know you're going to enjoy it!!! :D

3 weeks till publishing, I heard the first edition has "special" chapters in Alex's POV and the arc didnt have those so called chapters..
Basically I've pre-ordered it :) you should check that out Sashana, Lauren said on her blog that if they're sold out = they're sold out. There's only a certain amount of the first edition or something.

Oh and you can now read the 85 first pages here !!

message 1046: by Barb (new)

Barb Just finished One Hot Murder, the newest in one of my many (many, MANY!) series :) Not sure what's up next, I have to check library due dates and likelihood of renewals before I decide.

message 1047: by Karla (new)

Karla I missed the end of the RaT! My stupid computer decided to break. I could get on it, but could not type.

I just finished Just One Day (Just One Day, #1) by Gayle Forman I LOVE this book! I can't wait for the next one. DON'T read this until October. The second one comes out then and you will want to read both of them, one right after the other!

I'm on book 6 now. The slapping will come in later books if one of the characters annoys you the way they annoyed me! (Trying hard to not spoil things for you!)

That's too bad.

But, on the bright side, you can use it to the Theme of the Week.
