I'm still not done my book yet. Hoping to finish it today though I have to work tonight so may have to stay up late tonight reading. I may have another connection to the song. One of the characters is female and she is the first female guard so I'm thinking that might work for the gender roles part of the song. I don't know yet if she is a main character though. My hubby seems to remember her being one.
Ack! Thanks, CaroB!How's everyone progressing with this week's reads? Have you found another book, CaroB?
I'm down with a bad case of cold. Coughing and sneezing my way through. :(
awww Vi, sorry to hear you're not feeling well. May I suggest a day of laying on the sofa reading? It may help ;)
Week 2: ♬ Laid by James (1993) Book: Present Danger by Susan Anderson
Rating: ★★★
Finished: 15.01.13
Review: Well, I bit the bullet and read this because I saw lots of other players reading this and wanted high points. It wouldn't have been something I would have picked up myself otherwise, but I liked it. Romance with a suspense side-plot is a good formula for me.
I also think the author wrote the characters well. Although at times James was a little over the top grouch, and definitely I was left reeling with how quickly everything came together at the end. I didn't mind the written accents as much as other readers seem to have found it annoying.

Thanks all! I want to get all better soon too!Susan, I've been trying to read but I can't seem to concentrate :(
Mr. Elf, I wish you could come over too! I would so love the company :P
Melissa, it's ok. We''re yet to hear from Karen too. I dont think she's finished hers. I hope you're enjoying your book :)I'll update this week's song tomorrow. Too tired now.
Thanks, Midu! Aww, sorry it didn't work for you. I saw the book at the library the other day and was on the verge of picking it up. Thankfully, I decided I'll wait for your review :)And, I'm starting Gardens of the Moon today :)

Sure, Carrie! *whispers* Of course, if I didn't like it, I'm sure Midu will kill me. ;) I'm reading it on the iPad since the map is so small in my e-reader. let's see how it goes. Reading on the iPad is so annoying though when I'm in the bed.

Review: For a long time now hubby has tried to get me to read Terry Pratchet. I've half heartedly tried an number of times. But could never fully get in to it. This was the first time I forced myself to read it.
I really enjoyed the book it was full of humor and I can see why so many people are sucked into these books. I'm still not as enthralled with it as everyone else but at least I kind of "get it". Only problem now is that hubby has started to pull out of the closet and bookcases all of the Discworld books he can find. I have a feeling whether I want to or not this will not be my last.

Way to go, team! We have 57 points this time, more than last time. Yay!I've put in request for our dancers to be groovified.
Yep plus it rotates which is annoying when reading in bed. Luckily, just discovered how to turn it off! Bliss!!!Carrie wrote: "I can imagine as it's gigantic compared to other ereaders/tablets."
Ladies,As you might know, I'll be starting a new full-time job on Monday. It'll be the first time I work full time since I've had kids. I've been a little bit worried about how I'll be able to manage the work/family balance on top of my duties here on Goodreads, and haven't come up with a good answer.
Rather than waiting until I get overwhelmed and possibly put the team behind, I've decided to take advantage of the many offers for back-up we've just received in the Dance Party game, and swap myself over for another player.
I feel that this way I'll be able to better help manage the running of the game with Nick and the other mods. I hope I'm not letting the team down. I'll be back as a player for round 3 hopefully, but for this round, and with everything happening in RL, I need to focus my time and energies elsewhere. I've spoken to Vi, our captain, and Nick, Gisela, Susan and Lisa Kay, so they're aware.
Good luck, I'll be rooting for you all!!! (in a very unbiased way, of course, heehee)
CaroB sorry to see you leave the team and challenge but it's understandable as real life should always come first.Good luck on Monday!! :)
Hi Red Team!!We have another player for your team!!! Judy has been kind enough to volunteer and would like to join the game. Please guide her during her first week of play and make her feel welcome :-)
Welcome, Judy!! I have a soft spot for this team, you go girls!!!
Hi Judy, welcome again. If you have any questions, we will be happy to answer. The difficult part is choosing the book for the game. Once that's done, the rest is easy - read and review. The first week, I managed to fit a book from my TBR. Last week, I took to stalking other team's thread and managed to get my hands on a high-point book. So either will work.
Ok, Team Red,here is this week's tally.Week 2 Tally
1st Yellow on 122 pts
2nd The Violet Femmes on 118.75 pts
3rd: Emerald City Readers on 118 pts
4th: Pink Cupcakes on 117 pts
5th: Til We Read Again on 113 pts
6th: Team Red on 112 pts
7th: Orange Crush on 102 pts
We are at 6th place but as you can see, there is not much point difference between us and the rest of the teams. We can easily catch up to them! With some consistent book choices, we can move forward too!
So, go Team Red!! You've been great!!
One more day for the next song.
yes it is all very close. My problem is I can't afford to buy any books right now and I don't have easy access to my library (I don't drive). So while i have tons and tons of books I have to rely on those that I already have in hand.
"Week 3 Playlist Choices - Emerald City ReadersMr Randomizer will choose one song from the list below, and we will post it here on the 18th January.

I'm a little scared for this week, there's a song from 1971 and 1960.
I haven't started looking for books yet. I'm waiting to see what is picked tomorrow and what others come up with.
Lol, I'm stalking the other groups to get ideas. I might not be able to do much looking tomorrow, or at least until the evening sometime, so I'm hoping to have some ideas Ahead of time.

Sorry I wasn't in to comment earlier. Ipad is not a good platform to comment from.Right now, I am not able to afford buying books either and I don't have a library near me either. The last two weeks were lucky for me. Plus, I also have access to the Singapore Online Library which helps mostly. So we just have to make the best of the options available. That said, we have to have fun. That's the main objective. :)
This was one of my least favorite option. Yuck! I'm not sure what book I'll be able to find for this song.
I checked out the books I have right now and I have a Julie James. Something About You
Shelf= 1 point - It is on the friends-to-lovers shelf
Name= 5 points - (Last name of author)
Right now, it qualifies for 6 points. I need to check if it can count for cover ("hand" in the lyrics & cover??) and plot (basically friends-to-lovers). But, so far this seems the most promising for me even if it will be a re-read.
VI just read that "you" wont work it has to be "you got" or "you've got" in title. Ouch this week is gonna be hard.

Review Deanna works in television her voice and face goes out and into our homes everyday, some get attached, obsessively attached. At first the notes seemed harmless, a fan, fan mail can be rather strange and out there. But then things start to happen, and the notes don't feel quite as harmless anymore. Obsession can be scary.
Great book, not my first adventure with Nora Roberts, but it was my first romantic suspense by her. Definitely need to read more in this genre by her.
