Getting to Know Challenge-A-Holics

Feb 1 to Feb 28
Location, location, location!
Tell us where your from. You can use your city, state, province, region, general location or country. You can use your current home or where you grew up. Just share which you are doing.
Options
1. You can spell out the name, using author, title, series or character.
2. Read books set in or near your location.
3. Read books by authors who grew up or currently live near you.
You can plan your list now but no reading until February.
Feel free to keep going on January until you finish, or newbies, jump in whenever you want.

LOL, so which one are you going to use?
I was going to use Texas, until Jenne aptly reminded me that finding "X" is just too much drama, so I went with my city!
Dawn (Kat N Hat) wrote: "Goodreads doesn't even recognize my town when I enter my zipcode, it lists me as living in the closest city."
@Dawn: so which one are you going for? State or general location? or even authors?

LOL, so which one are you going to use?"
I'm going to look for books set in Pennsylvania or by authors from PA :) And I'm soooo glad that's an option LOL
Our ZIP code changed over 15 years ago, and there are still websites that don't recognize it!

Yep. My friends from outside of Illinois think it's hilarious! I've lived here pretty much all my life and didn't realize it was weird until I moved out of state temporarily. :)

North (I figured adding North & reading 13 books in a month with only 28 days would be biting off more than I can chew). I was born and raised in California but I've been in NC 8 years now.

I am in Colorado, no way I am spelling that out. Lochbuie is almost as bad. I have a combination of books set in Colorado and an author who lives in Colorado so I am going for a combo of setting and Authors.

@Lizz Neill: Happy Texas--I love it!!!
@Dawn: when I saw that name I thought an "O" and "u" and "i" would be too tough. I would have gone with authors and books set in colorado too!
I don't know what I was smoking trying to do Lewisville. I've only been living here 6months. but I was scared to do Arlington---but I think I could do Arlington much easier than trying to find 3 "L" books

Ha! I've noticed you're trying to do that with everyone. Trying to make us work hard for the money. ^_^ No thank you. I'm kinda crazy for even joining this challenge given that I'm a full-time uni student & have a part-time job. Some days I'm too tired to even watch TV, better yet pick up a book. I'll stick with Carolina & the "N" part can kick rocks.

LOL. I thought I would make everyone work as hard as I am on it (was I obvious?)
@Jenne: Ican't stop--I am going for it (Sing Bon jovi: "I'm going down, in a blaze of glory")

Love those names. Hilarious

Oh that is bad.
ETA: This reminds me of a road trip through southern Missouri several road signs all mention stopping at the next town "Licking" which was just south of "Anutt". As you can guess the car conversation turned a little extreme. (view spoiler)

LMAO! I wouldn't do Mississippi either, Alley. Hell, if it wasn't for the spell check on Google Chrome, I'd misspell it most of the time. Way too many I's & S's.

I haven't completely finished spelling my name yet (all those dastardly vowels!), but I'll keep working at it and add my location post:
February 2013 - Location, location, location!
I've decided to make a bit easier for myself this month and will read the airport codes for my hometown of Copenhagen, Denmark (CPH) and my current town of Barcelona, Spain (BCN).

I was about to call you out because Barcelona is completely doable...but you have extenuating circumstances, so I will let you ride this time (LOL).
Hope your friend is doing better!
P.S. I listened to city of bones and enjoyed it. my library didn't have book 2, but they have books 3&4, so I have to wait for them to order it. Silly librarian ordered book 1,3,4 in the series but forgot audiobook 2!

There's 300 kids in my kids entire district that's how Podunk it is around here :)"
February 2013 "Location, Location, Location!"
There aren't even 300 people in my town, which technically isn't big enough to be considered a town. The government amalgamated all the unincorporated areas so they could tax the hell out of us. I can literally name everyone who lives here. Our school has (and I just counted on my fingers to get this number) 11 kids. Believe me, I understand middle-of-nowhere-itis. :D
Anyway, my town has 12 letters, one of them an X. My area is Northwestern Ontario, which is not only too long but has way too many Ns and Os. So I'm going to read my lake which is abbreviated LOTWs (Lake of the Woods) and a book that takes place in my area.
