Getting to Know Challenge-A-Holics

Location, location, location!
Tell us where your from. You can use your city, state, province, region, general location or country. You can use your current home or where you grew up. Just share which you are doing.
Options
1. You can spell out the name, using author, title, series or character.
2. Read books set in or near your location.
3. Read books by authors who grew up or currently live near you.
You can plan your list now but no reading until February.
Feel free to keep going on January until you finish, or newbies, jump in whenever you want.
Jenne, I think I am just a touch closer to civilization than you. I understand. I am actually in town limits, but the town is only about 2000 people. it is 15 minutes to get to anything other than a gas station or bar.
Goodreads doesn't even recognize my town when I enter my zipcode, it lists me as living in the closest city.
The name of my town is longer than the name of my state -- and I live in Pennsylvania! LOL

I was going to use Texas, until Jenne aptly reminded me that finding "X" is just too much drama, so I went with my city!

I'm going to look for books set in Pennsylvania or by authors from PA :) And I'm soooo glad that's an option LOL
Our ZIP code changed over 15 years ago, and there are still websites that don't recognize it!
This is technically the city I work in, but the city I live in (Bloomington) has too many letters (and too many Os) for me to tackle in one month. Plus, the two cities are so close together, they're basically indistinguishable from each other. :)February - Location, Location, Location!

North (I figured adding North & reading 13 books in a month with only 28 days would be biting off more than I can chew). I was born and raised in California but I've been in NC 8 years now.

I don't know what I was smoking trying to do Lewisville. I've only been living here 6months. but I was scared to do Arlington---but I think I could do Arlington much easier than trying to find 3 "L" books

Ha! I've noticed you're trying to do that with everyone. Trying to make us work hard for the money. ^_^ No thank you. I'm kinda crazy for even joining this challenge given that I'm a full-time uni student & have a part-time job. Some days I'm too tired to even watch TV, better yet pick up a book. We have a lot of ummm... interesting town names here in Pennsylvania too: Blue Ball, Ono, Moon (and Mars!), Eighty Four, Climax -- but everybody's favorite is Intercourse :)

ETA: This reminds me of a road trip through southern Missouri several road signs all mention stopping at the next town "Licking" which was just south of "Anutt". As you can guess the car conversation turned a little extreme. (view spoiler)

February 2013 "Location, Location, Location!"
There aren't even 300 people in my town, which technically isn't big enough to be considered a town. The government amalgamated all the unincorporated areas so they could tax the hell out of us. I can literally name everyone who lives here. Our school has (and I just counted on my fingers to get this number) 11 kids. Believe me, I understand middle-of-nowhere-itis. :D
Anyway, my town has 12 letters, one of them an X. My area is Northwestern Ontario, which is not only too long but has way too many Ns and Os. So I'm going to read my lake which is abbreviated LOTWs (Lake of the Woods) and a book that takes place in my area.
