Challenges: Year Long Main 2021
>
Lara's Low Octane Alphabet
With my new job this fall, I've learned I can't dedicate the same energy to reading as in the past. However, I'm committed to reading more than I should ;-)
I've decided to go my authors' last name. I've already made a list of potential authors based on my existing ebook library. However, I'll probably end up buying one for X. At least I have an author in mind. :-)
Thanks Helen and Judy!Since my life is about the get busy again today, I figured I should get a strong start. :-)
I've also started on my B book, but it is longer than the one I originally planned as I couldn't find my first pick.
I expect I'll get a lot read this month as a new release is coming out next week from a K author, and I want to read it for a challenge in another group as well. Sure, I could read a different K book when it comes to it, I signed up for too many challenges this month/quarter/year, so getting as much done now as possible is a good thing.
Holy Smoke! Are you sure you didn't want to do the high octane? What are you going to do for 11 months?
Alphabets based on author names or book titles are about what I can handle. Also, I'm a member of a bunch of groups, so expect to have plenty of challenges to keep me occupied. Plus, I like the variety.
I finished my N book, and started on O. I may get through P and Q this month, as another group is reading a Q author. But, that is a reread, so I may read some books from another challenge instead and wait on the next letter. I haven't decided, but I seem to have a bunch of C and H authors I want to read.
Blimy! That's motoring along at some rate. Are you going for an alphabet a month?!
Helen wrote: "Blimy! That's motoring along at some rate. Are you going for an alphabet a month?!"Very funny! No, I signed up for too many this month and want to get through the year-long ones early. Otherwise, I might forget ;-)
Lara!!! What are you? A reading machine? I need help with my TBR, I'm recruiting you right now before someone else snaps you up.
Pragya wrote: "Lara!!! What are you? A reading machine? Personally, I probably have more books on mine than I will likely read, and there are many I know I want to read (Amazon wish list, already own, etc.) that aren't on my GR list. It can make it hard to plan my challenge reading.
So, I'm debating waiting until Feb to continue. Some of the books I initially identified for the Toppler would fill P, Q and R. However, I'm not sure I can wait ;-)
Holy hell! Look at you go! Looks like people should come raid some of these books for the Toppler too. Although I am judging books by their covers. Or more specifically the oiled man's torso on the cover ;)I've nearly finished an A book...

But, if people are wondering, I could figure it out.
Thanks Judy! Of course, I have already started to slow my reading. And some of the books I've read weren't as good as I expected, so I didn't read them as closely and finished faster.
Okay, I've started to read Among Others by Jo Walton as my W book. It is also a group read for Feb. I should finish shortly before then. I'm not really sure what it is about yet, but it has gotten some great reviews.
I am in awe of how many books you've read. Did you apply the "How to Win a Toppler" rules to your life??
Jmom, I did decide to read shorter books. And DH is complaining I never talk to him ;-) So, maybe I am :-)
Hee hee!@Janice, I was glad to see that the group is reading Among Others in Feb. I think I may have been the one who first nominated it, too. So, I had to make sure I read it :-)
Two more to go! I am looking forward to my next read, by Samantha Young. She's written quite a few and I have the first book in at least 3 of her series.
That would be fabulous. I haven't finalized my final book, but think it will likely be Carlos Ruiz Zafón's The Shadow Of The Wind as I already own it.
