Leigh and Alyssia you both read this already? Have you read any more of the series? I've heard so much about this series so I have really high expectations. I really hope I'm not let down, although since you both gave it 4 & 5 stars, I should be good :) Plus, I like Frost's writing (Once Burned).

Chapters 1-5
I like Cat. She's maybe a little too naive or 'innocent' for my taste, but she's tough and definitely kick ass. I'm sure Bones will have her cured of that quickly. I hate her mother already – having convinced her there is a monster inside of her and that she is evil? Really? Could you imagine growing up with that?

Bones is hilarious. I love him already. I know the two get together, but I like the play between them right now – before the hook up.

I loved Bones.
Any book that makes me laugh out loud is an instant 4 star for me.
Bones does that. He makes me feel warm and happy.

Anyways.
Loved this book. Read it for a pick-it-for-me in June or July from Leigh. I've also read book two, but I never got further than that. And Once Burned, as you know. There is also a novella that is all about Bones which I own and would like to read.
I think it will be fun to tackle the series together.

I don't think you will be disappointed. I loved the series and wanted to read it again. I needed a Cat and Bones fix. I think the banter between Cat and Bones is one of the things that I really like about the series. Cat is naive but she is a kick-ass herione. She started hunting vampires when she was young. Her mother is something else. I think her mother has conflicting emotions concerning Cat. I think she loved her enough to keep her but how Cat was conceived and Cat being part vampire makes it hard for her mother to accept her.

So through chapter 10-
I like this book a lot. I would have kept reading last night but I didn't want to get too far ahead. It is an easy read, nothing too deep or profound. I love the chemistry between Cat and Bones. You can tell already that they are going to be hot together. I like her for sticking with him even when he beats her every time. I have no disillusions, as I'm sure she doesn't, that she will ever get to the point where she can beat him, or even match him, but yet she still goes at it and is happy with herself for the little things – like not passing out :)

He doesn't really give any signs though. I don't think she's suspicious at all. I think it would be seriously hard for him to keep a straight face half the time, though, with everything that's going through her head :) (hide spoiler)]

So what is Bones exactly? A vigilante vampire? Or does he explain more later?

Welcome to the group. I read and liked it. It started out slow but it picked up. It reminded me of the Dresden Files.

I'm so glad this is in print! I feel it totally exonerated! It dignifies why I never fight fair:) it always boggled my mind when someone would insist "it wasn't fair!" & I'd retort(peevishly) "life isn't fair", but this says it so eloquently "there is only one way to fight,& that's dirty....take every cheap shot, every low blow, absolutely kick people when they're down & then maybe you'll be the one to walk away."

It always amused me when people would scoff about a fair fight...(totally snickering to myself about how completely unfair I fight)

I am not offended by profanity. I just don't like every other word to be that. Where's the story, where's the dialogue? I can handle a Hot love scene or two or three. With Bones I don't think I can get enough. He is yummy!!!!

I'm the same way. I don't mind swearing when it fits into the book, but when that's all there is, what's the point?

Also, I must agree that the heavy use of inappropriate language usually just makes the person sound ignorant. There are so many awesome & completely insulting words to choose from to just fall back on cursing is lazy:)

Since Sheri read to Chapter 10, I didn't want to be out done so I read to Chapter 13. I know I am bad but I'm okay with that. LOL

I have a few books with "smoldering" love scenes but I also want story not just love scenes.

Oh good! Then continuing on is a given:) I'm really enjoying this so far. Possibly interesting fact
1. My hometown has a reservation on it that belongs to the Iroquois Indians. It's a remarkable & beautiful place. The people who live there host pow-wows & instructional classes on loom beading, feather/ leather working,silver & turquoise jewelry, as well as cultural and expressive song & dance. They also were the extra's in the movie "Dances With Wolves".
I am a total sucker ( no pun intended) for an accent. Certain ones get me every time. Bones for instance could purr in my ear the farmers almanac & I would be rivited.
Question- has anyone listen to this on audible? Does Bones sound as sexy recorded as he reads?
