K M | 99 comments Hi, all. I've been a member of Bookcrossing since 2003, as Pashmack. Haven't been active there lately, but still release books now and then. Thought I'd drop in to say hello and see what goes on here :-)

message 2: by [deleted user] (new)

Hi K M. Thanks for stopping by.

It's pretty low key here, but we do keep in touch and let each other know about unCons and other happening things.

Anne (annevo) | 1 comments I'm new in this group as well, have been in Goodreads for a while now but haven't been very active at BC since the Amsterdam gathering... My screen name is the same there.

Debbie Robson (lakelady2282) | 67 comments Hi Katrina and Anne,
Welcome to goodreads. It's very useful for keeping track of books you want to read.

best wishes
Debbie

message 7: by Anna (new)

Anna (aetm) | 45 comments Hey, nice to see somewhat familiar names, welcome all. :)
Debbie, I read Crossing Paths a while back - that was a brilliant idea for a book by the way.

I'm aetm in bookcrossing, and seems I'm more doing goodreads these days than BC. A part of the reason is that there isn't anything local happening here, so either I release stuff randomly... or release to friend with similar taste etc. I'm into procedurals, crime, thrillers, and (non-cozy and more action-y) mysteries from around the world, the more exotic the better. I wish the US postage rates to around the world were way cheaper.... but if anyone has a similar taste to books like mine, and the books I've rated are with "bookcrossing" label, they may be open :) at least ask. I'd love to get some more books to travel at least in the US (budget permitting). Especially if you have something that might be interesting for a swap, even better...

message 8: by Debbie (new)

Debbie Robson (lakelady2282) | 67 comments Thanks Anna. Yes the postage has gone up in Australia too and I am more often on GR than BC. I have thought started releasing books again as I am gradually cleaning out my garage. Moving some books into my house and releasing others.
It's is very hot here and supposed to be sweltering tomorrow!

message 9: by [deleted user] (new)

I saw that it was super hot this year in oz. 52 degrees in some places! Stay hydrated and keep your head covered, Debbie.

Deb (imawinn2) | 40 comments Hi KM and everybody else. You may know me as imawinn2 over on Bookcrossing. Nice to connect over here. I love this site for seeing what people are reading and their take on books. Take care!

Well thanks to approx 38c on Saturday I just lazed around and read and finished in one day Once Upon a Secret. Loved it! Review to come soon.

Michelle (michellesibs) Hi everyone!
Ive been a member for Goodreads for ages but only just found this group! I love BC - only been a member for just over a year but have done a few RABCK's and taken part in some bookrays and plan to get more and more involved in the community. Im Miss_Sunshine on BC x

Teresa Dicentra | 1 comments HI! New to the group but not BC. I'm dicentragirl on bookcrossing.

Also working on the 1001 Books to Read Before You Die list.

Grada (BoekenTrol) (boekentrol) | 5 comments Welcome to all :-) See some familiar BC-names passing by, nice to know the GR-names as well. And to have a place where I can compare, if my lousy short-term memory fails to transfer facts like that to my long term...

message 15: by Debbie (new)

Debbie Robson (lakelady2282) | 67 comments Nice to see you here! BoekenTrol!

message 16: by Maeve (new)

Maeve (mepwave) | 27 comments Haha, this is hilarious! I have been a bookcrosser and on goodreads but never thought to find the bookcrosser group until another bookcrosser friended me. Now I'm finding people in my bookrings. So cool!

message 18: by Dean (new)

Dean MacAllister (deanmacallister) Hey guys!
I recieved an "Authors copy" recently of my first novel. It's all about travel...so I found it only fitting to release it out into the world to do its own travels. Think i will release it in Vietnam.

message 19: by Anna (new)

Anna (aetm) | 45 comments Hey, I was just wondering if to make a new thread here or not: I just found they have a sale in BC for a bunch of bookplates etc (like $3 for 25).

Grab some before they're gone.. :)

message 27: by Josie (new)

Josie (j4shaw) | 12 comments Hi everyone.
I'm J4shaw on BookCrossing and I am still a very active member with currently hosting 4 Bookrings, an Australian Literature Sweepstake open to all (http://www.bookcrossing.com/forum/10/...) and a very active participant of the Wishlist Tag Games in the RABCK forums!

Always open to trades especially for books from my Wishlist.

I am currently 14 books into my 2013 challenge of 45.

Please stay active in BC guys, it needs you!

message 28: by Debbie (new)

Debbie Robson (lakelady2282) | 67 comments Hi J4shaw It is good to see you here! I'm doing the Australian Women Writers Challenge! That's keeping me busy!

message 29: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl (cherylllr) Well, I'm actively maintaining an OBCZ at a local smoothie shop, but I'm struggling to find books with which to stock it.

I've never participated in the forums at BC - I find the format much too confusing.

if you care to peek in to the OBCZ forum over on the BC site there are sometimes people offering to send OBCZ's books for the OBCZ shelves...

If I hadn't just sent off most of my available books to an OBCZ little ffree library I would offer to send some books your way myself:)

message 31: by Debbie (new)

Debbie Robson (lakelady2282) | 67 comments Over here in Oz our local libraries sell books for 50c and a $1. I often get a few to release at my OBCZs. It does slow you down when you can't lay on your hands to release.

message 32: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl (cherylllr) Well, I can try.. but ime newbies with cold calls don't, generally, get good responses. If it's ok, I could say nimrodiel sent me?? (or do you use a different name there?)

message 35: by Sherri (new)

Sherri (srtibbetts) | 5 comments Hello all! Just re-found BC and this time I signed up and have begun cleaning out some books I WAS going to donate to Goodwill. Instead they are now spread over much of Maine and Boston :) South Station is my favourite drop spot. Hopefully people will enjoy them and actually let me know they found a good home!

message 36: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl (cherylllr) Yay - good for you. Odds are they won't get journaled, but odds are that folks are enjoying them anyway. :)

Awww.... Well, maybe someone on this list will find and journal them anyways. If anyone here is from Boston, I like hiding books in weird places in South Station, just to see if they are still there when I come through next time. It's like an Easter Egg hunt! :)

message 38: by K M (new)

K M | 99 comments Hi, Sherri (and everyone else!) Are you Sherri on BC, too? I am Pashmack there. My son goes to college in Cambridge. I'll tell him to keep his eyes open for books when he's out and about Boston!

message 39: by Sherri (new)

Sherri (srtibbetts) | 5 comments I'm SherriT on BC. I'll have to start dropping them in Harvard square while I'm cleaning out my shelves, just so he doesn't have to go so far ;-) Feel free to check my availables if you have any requests!

message 40: by Thorsten (new)

Thorsten (drachenkater) Hey
I'm new here on Goodreads, but I joined to BC in 2010 (and my Grammar isn't well, I know)
