How many have you read? (Reading the books on our group bookshelf)
For the end of the year tallying:
July 2018 67/227 = 29.5% (when I joined the group)
Jan. 1st, 2019 88/247 = 35.6%
Dec 31, 2019 127/276 = 46.0%
Dec 30, 2020 153/319 = 48%
Holding steady or slightly increasing is what I hope to do. Eventually I would like to get to 50% and stay near that number. I also participated in two group reads where I reread the books, but that does not show up in the numbers.

I wonder if you'll get stuck like me soon Laurie."
I've been stuck in the 60 percent range for several years which is fine. Like you, it would take reading more books each month/quarter than I am willing to tackle to improve.

There are two problems keeping up the Listopia 1. Listopia will only allow a person to vote for 100 books and there are over 300 now on our bookshelf (and growing)! 2. The Listopia is open to anyone. People may vote on it just for classics without being part of the group.
I tried to keep it up yet even making a second account with my work email (which I never ever use to vote twice in our monthly polls) I still have trouble adding new books without "losing" an older one.
We tried to clean up the list earlier this year and got it perfect. It never lasts.
Joseph I am really glad you care about it too. If you vote it will help us. Thanks to J_Blueflower who has been adding in new books lately. : )

When I first joined ( end 2019 ) I had read about 16 of the books on the self. Now I'm at 38 read and 20 and something on my to read list. Seems like I did quite well reading more then 20 classics in only one year!

I love when that happens Lynn ( a book you've already read gets on the list). Our goals are the same (50% and maintain). It is hard when you pass it and watch yourself go down, but now that I have a better sense of which classics I like, I don't want to read ones I'm not interested in just to up my percentage.
I usually check my status in April. I didn't do that this year so for the years end, here is where I stand
December 4, 2012 - 21/47 = 45%, 26 books unread
April 24, 2014 - 45/84 = 54%, 39 books unread
April 6, 2015 - 66/105 = 63%, 39 books unread
April 4, 2016 - 100/142 = 70%, 42 books unread
April 13, 2017 - 134/180 = 74%, 46 books unread
April 9, 2018 - 180/217 = 82.9%, 37 books unread
April 5, 2019 - 212/256 = 82.8%, 44 books unread
December 30, 2020 - 264/321 = 82.2%, 57 books unread
Percentage is still looking good, but the number of unread books went up a bunch.
I have resigned myself to the fact that I will never read the whole shelf. Even if I wanted to read all of our selections, which I don't, I don't see how I can ever keep pace with all of our new selections and hope to read any other non-group books.

Listopia-list was at 325, but a duplicate check put it back to 323, so it seems that one book is missing. I checked the newer ones and it is not one of those.

I went up a percentage after 2 stagnant quarters (in terms of %). It helped that 3 group reads were books I had already read. I averaged two current or past group reads per month which is my goal.

The listopia is now current through the end of April--books we have actually read. (333)
I have read 273 of 333, for a percentage total of 82%. Still leaves me with a rather long list of to-reads that doesn't seem to be getting any shorter. 40 that I want to read, and 16 that I probably never will.

Jun 2021: 53 of 333 read, for 16%
My progress is slow, but continues, which I am glad to see, considering I read toward too many goals, occasionally toward none at all, and with interruptions!
I’m currently reading Anna Karenina and am planning to join in some group reads next month. :)
Your progress is marvelous, Erin. What is really exciting is that you are reading all those great novels--like Anna Karenina!

Thank you! And you are so right! It has been one of many delightful surprises — I had been rather dreading the great Russian novels as difficult and dreary but Tolstoy certainly is not and I may even read Dostoyevsky yet! Overall I’ve been greatly enjoying my journeys with the classics! :)
It's been six months since I last updated the percentage read from our shelves. I know mine has dropped because I have only read two group reads so far this year, that I had not read before.
July 2018 67/227 = 29.5% (when I joined the group)
Jan. 1st, 2019 88/247 = 35.6%

June 10, 2021 155/329 = 47.1%
I have spent the first six months of this year concentrating more on the Challenge Buffet. When I get to the group read challenge, hopefully this percentage will move back up. Holding steady or slightly increasing is what I hope to do. Eventually I would like to get to 50% and stay near that number.
I am using the 329 number because I am not including the books we are currently reading.

Definitely looking forward to it. Thank you.

I went from 131 books at the end of last May (45%) to 159 books as of now (47%). That's double my usual increase of 1% a year! It didn't seem possible to go up 28 books, so I went to the bookshelf and counted 30 in the last year that I either had already read or read with the group.
So yay! A smidge closer to my 50% goal. :-)

**update - counted more carefully and got 207 which is 61%

I normally read the monthly short story no matter what, but the last two months I have been too busy and started reading Moll Flanders as the discussion looked more lively.

How to make it easy: Make a
catching-up-on-classics
or
catching-up-unread
and
catching-up-read
shelf. Goodreads will do all the counting for you and as a bonus it is easy to see if a book has already been read when you are nominating.

Thanks for the explanation. I didn't know this (I prefer reading to figuring out technical stuff I guess :-))

Thanks for your encouragement. I appreciate it!

It's been a year and a half since I last counted, and I was at 52% then. At this rate in 15 years I'll be near 100%!

I know that I will never get 100% on the list because there are plenty of classics I don't want to read. Lol. There are a lot on there though that are on my list and I'm excited to read eventually.
Here's where I'm at so far.
