Diane I just joined the group but the Easy Challenge shouldn't be too difficult to accomplish. Some catagories such as the Grapic Novel and Young Adult I was clueless but asked around. Other books such as Belinda and the Woodlanders, I've wanted to read for some time so now is the time.
Classics- The Woodlanders 9/19
Fantasy- The Ocean at the End of the Lane 9/26
Graphic Novel- The Sandman, Vol. 4: Season of Mists 7/21
Historical Fiction- The Ivy Crown 08-03
Horror- The Haunting of Hill House o7-26
Literary Fiction- Sister Noon 07/16
Mystery- Thirty-Three Teeth 10/10
Non-Fiction- Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption 07/10
Romance- An Unsuitable Attachment 9/27
Science Fiction- The Curiosity: A Novel 10/19
Thriller- If You Were Here 10/5
Young Adult- Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone 08-05

Finished! Surprised myself by really enjoying The Ocean at the End of the Lane. I don't particularly care for fantasy, magic, etc but this was riveting. I listened to it read by the author himself while hiking.

Kai Coates (southernbohemian) I recently joined the group, so I'm taking up the challenge very late. However, I was pleasantly surprised at how many genres I have already completed. I tend to think I only read one kind of book - classics or literary fiction.

Classics - The Blithedale Romance
Fantasy - How the Dead Live
Graphic Novel - Asterios Polyp
Historical Fiction - The Lambs of London
Horror - Under the Skin
Literary Fiction - The Human Stain
Mystery - The Name of the Rose
Non-Fiction - If This Is a Man / The Truce
Romance - All the Living
Science Fiction - Super-Cannes
Thriller - The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest
Young Adult - Schooling

Finished: December 1, 2013

Sarah-Jane (sairjane) Hello, I recently joined this group, I'd still like to participate in the Challenge!

Classics: Anna Karenin by Leo Tolstoy - read this earlier in the year for the first time in about 20 years and was blown away!
Fantasy: The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman
Graphic Novel: Have gone with The Compleat Moonshadow - my brother is a big graphic novel fan and suggested it to me. Loving so far.
6 Oct: Have had to abandon. Can't read the text properly and it's a text-driven story. Makes my eyes hurt.
Historical Fiction: Cold Mountain by Charles Frazier Finished 6 September!
Horror: The Dreams in the Witch House and Other Weird Stories by H.P. Lovecraft
Literary Fiction: Wonder Boys by Michael Chabon
Mystery: The Moonstone by Wilkie Collins
Non Fiction: Speechless: A Year in My Father's Business by James Button - went to the monthly book club at my local indy bookstore at met James - great guy. Also fascinating conversation in the middle of Election 2013.
Romance: Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen
Science Fiction: Embassytown by China Miéville
Thriller: The Rule Of Four by Ian Caldwell and Dustin Thomason
Young Adult: Butterfly by Sonya Hartnett

Updated 6 September. 4 down - 8 to go!
Updated 25/09: Have now read Water for Elephants and Butterfly. Lovecraft next!

I am up for a challenge!"

So far I am thrilled with this exploration: I'm in love with adult graphic novels (that is, not the comics novels or manga, but the illustrated novels genre). I keep looking for more authors and illustrators to get to know, so thanks so much for pushing me into this challenge.
YA is still a disappointment for me, something is missing from this genre for me to enjoy these books.

Catherine (wearestarrdust) | 5 comments I think I might try this. It's late in the year but it doesn't matter if I don't get them all done.

Classics: The Postman Always Rings Twice 30/12/13
Fantasy: A Game of Thrones
Graphic Novels: The Guild 18/09/13
Historical Fiction: Lady of the English
Horror: Queen Victoria: Demon Hunter 22%
Literary Fiction: The Casual Vacancy
Mystery: The Gun Seller 18/09/13
Non-Fiction: Decline of the English Murder 27/12/13
Romance: Snow White & the Huntsman
Science Fiction: Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency
Thriller: The Lost Symbol 52%
Young Adult: The Hunger Games

So, I finished like four books which for three or so months isn't so bad. Onto bigger, better challenges.

I completed this challenge today. Since I upgraded to the hard challenge and non-fiction was the last to read on both lists, I completed both today.
