Task 25.2 - Stacie MI’s Task - Chain of Names

For this task, you will read two books.

For your first book, read any book you choose.

For your second book, read a book whose author has a first name in common with a main character from your first book. The name must match exactly; no variations allowed!

Examples: If I read Pride and Prejudice, whose main character is named Elizabeth, for my first book, I could read The Lonely Hearts Club by Elizabeth Eulberg for my second book. Or, if I read These Is My Words, whose main character is named Sarah, I could also read The Time It Snowed in Puerto Rico by Sarah McCoy.

Required: Please state the name of the main character from your first book when you post.

quick question for the character name - if their full name is something and is mentioned, but they go by a diminutive (i.e. Elizabeth, and Beth) go with the commonly used name?

Yes, I would use the commonly used name. If the character goes by Beth, I would use Beth.

So if my protagonist's name is Jenny, could I read a book by Jenny Carroll (pseudonym of Meg Cabot) if the book was first published under Jenny Carroll and republished under Meg Cabot?

GR has both names listed for the book I am considering - Shadowland

that's what I figured but wanted to check ;) now off to either find a book I haven't read with a character named Elizabeth, or an author by the name of Cecilia

GR has both..."

I think as long as you claim Jenny Carroll as the author when you post the task, the moderators shouldn't have a problem with it.

I know this is a long shot, but will a biography/memoir of an author (where they will be the main character) and a book by the same author work? :D

Since I won this book through a Giveaway (a paperback), I wanted to get approval that the main character's name is Sophie - since I want to read another book by a "Sophie" author.... I just figured I'd get the first book approved since there isn't much of a description for it on GR and I wasn't sure if the moderators would question whether or not a Sophie was in it.

This Link goes to the Amazon's description of it - which includes Sophie's name as the main character in it.

I'd like to read The Bone Collector for my first book; Lincoln Rhyme is the main character.

For my second book, could I read something like Fever Dream, which has two authors: Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child? Or do I have to keep to books with only one author whose first name is Lincoln?

No, that will work. Just make sure that you link to Lincoln Child when you post your second book

Hi Stacie! Question about this...what happens if the character has two names? Meaning, that at point in the book they are known as one name and in the other, they are known as another? Can I use either name or the one they are known by the most time?

I was thinking of reading The Witness, where the character is named Elizabeth and then changes her name to Abigail. I have books for either choice but need to know which one to read afterwards. :)

I would go with the name that she is known by in the majority of the story. Meaning if she changes her name to Abigail early in the story, I would go with Abigail. Does that make sense?
