Hi ladies! Just checking in. I'm from Chicago. I'm a first timer and may need some clarification on rules but totally looking forward to this. I would prefer to not be captain as right now is our crazy time at work and not sure I understand all the rules,lol.
Hey all! Of course I am super excited to start this. I opted out of the last round and really missed it. I probably should not be captain, just because it should be someone to check my tallies on the game scoreboard. I can help with the organizing part, but someone else should do the request points posts.
I live just north of Denver, CO.
I am a stay at home mom, but at the moment I seem to be overwhelmed in the kids school activites, that are cutting into my reading time. I hate when real life gets in the way of book time.

Dawn ~ for someone who is not all that computer savvy,LOL how hard is being captain. I was trying to look at the archives to see how you post points and I think I missed it. Maybe we could be co-captains?!?It looks like everyone likes Nine Lives of Books - maybe that should be our name
Dawn ~ playing questionwe pick one book to read for the "item of the week" then we can claim up to 3 other words from the lists if I read correctly. What happens if the item of the week on say week 4 is one of the "extra 3 words" I read in week 2? Did that make sense?

The captain will need to keep track of who read which book, and the extra items claimed. then post links in one post and post it in the special thread. (I can explain how to do links if you need. they are easy)

Yes, it makes sense and it WILL happen to someone, most likely to most of us.
Ok so in an early week Snow is called you read a book with snow and also claim Boots, Tail and Shelf. Then in a later week Tail is called. You alread have claimed Tail so you don't get credit for that particular item. But if you can find another book with tail and read it you then can claim 3 other items from it. So instead of credit for 4 items you only get 3.
To break it down another way each player earns 1/4 or 1/5 depending on team size of a point for the item. Once you have your portion of the point that is it, but you can read it again to claim the bonus points.

Yay! I will get us updated. Melissa if you use Google docs to make te spread sheet it will give you a link and we can all see it.

If you are in your google spread sheet click FILE. The top option should be SHARE. Clicking SHARE will open a pop up window. The top of the window has the link to the sheet. In the middle of the pop up box is an option for who can see it. I usually use anyone with the link option, since it isn't any personal info. If you need to know how to post the link here check this out.

Ok, next question for when we start and I update the spreadsheet. Should I just do a new link that day or is there a way to "recopy" it into the one above or does it automatically update?? Sorry for all the tech questions??

Google saves every few minutes as you are updating. So we may not see it exactly as you update, but we will once you are done.
I am going to add it to post 3, just for easy refrence for everyone.
If you want cute insperation Jenne on team 3 has some cute stuff in post 5 & 6 on the team 3 thread.

One more playing question: Once you find a book w/the item called does it matter what list the other 3 items I find come from. Can they all come from the same or does each item need to come off of a different list?
Only one item per list each week. So one article of clothing, one body part, one weather and one from misc. This is where it messes with people. Last game we had a lot from one catergory drawn and people got down to all done in all catergories except 1 where they had 2 or 3 left.

Melissa I have a Kobo and there is no word search function on it..there is on Kindle (maybe someone else who has Kindle version could check)..I was so surprised....then I checked google books and there is no preview available for me to check there....
So sorry :(
no worries.....I had checked google books earlier and knew they didn't have a preview function for it. I'll just stick with my original book.
