Paris (pah13) Week 5 - Bike

Rock Chick (Rock Chick, #1) by Kristen Ashley by Kristen Ashley
Finished: 1/4/2013
Rating: ★★★★★

I totally loved this book. I knew from the beginning I would love India. She's fun and quirky and a lot of trouble. And Lee....don't even get me started on him. Yum. Love and together, they are delicious. Then there are all the secondary characters that are a riot. I hope that even though the rest of the series doesn't feature Indy as the narrator, that we get to see all of her eclectic friends, like Tex, Duke, Tod and Stevie, and of course Ally.

I am super bummed that neither of the library systems in my area carry these books. Looks like I'll have to buy them to read them...hopefully I can figure out a way to fit them into my budget.

Bike "And he still had a bike." Location 464
Body Part:Nose: "She keeps her nose in a novel nearly every minute of the day when she isn't buying them off people hawking their books for our shelves or selling them to people with mumbled recommendations." Location 184
Weather: Lightning "Then I worry if God would strike me with lightning for such a though." Location 4159
Clothing: Belt "But the way I'd inherited it, it sure as hell wasn't going to keep me in my cowboy boots, Levi's and huge, silver belt buckles attached to tooled-leather belts, my signature outerwear." Location 197

Katherine (katdylan) Way to go Paris!

@Turtlecollector, sometimes the easier one is the HARDEST one.

Turtlecollector Dennis Week 6: Eyes

My Kind of Christmas (Virgin River, #20) by Robyn Carr by Robyn Carr
Read 1/5/13 - 4 stars

This continuation of the series was good. The two main characters have recently been through traumatic experiences and are trying to get some space from family. However family shows up at their doorsteps uninvited. I like this series because characters from the previous books come back and it is nice to see how they turned out. The community it is set in seems idyllic and I wouldn't mind living there myself.

1. Body part: eyes pg 9

2. Weather: snow pg 27

3. Clothing: bra pg 77

Katherine (katdylan) Week Three

Item Called: Sunshine
Book:The Heart of Texas
Author: R.J. Scott
Rating: 5 Stars
Date Read: 01/06/2013

Quick Review:
I started this book with low expectations. There's a "Romeo and Juliet" feel to it, and I thought it would revolve around this.
I was in for a HECK of a surprise.
Riley dad's is retiring and leaving his company for his two sons. Riley is the one who work harder and has the gut-instinct for the oil extraction.
When his dad cheats on him by stating he needs to stop partying and get settled, Riley is pissed and good.
With this in mind, he goes to sworn enemy Jack Campbell. His proposition? Riley wants to buy the servies of Jack Campbell as his husband.
It's better that he is the enemy and a MAN.
Jack doesn't know what to thik when he hears Riley's deal. He's not hurthing that much for money, and he still got his pride.
However Riley has something up his sleeve which will make Jack say yes in a heartbeat.

I really liked how Scott manage to involve both families without making too much of a crowd. I was really really surprised by how good this plot was.
There's just about everything, romance, great sex, murder, babies, families showing love and hate. Just freaking LOVED!
I'm for sure reading the rest of the series and other books by R.J. Scott.

Bra - page 538 -...and a bra...

When i started this book i didn't know what it was about. I didn't know anything about it. I sometimes like it when i don't know anything about the book. Then i have a suprise that can be good or bad, but in this case it was a good one. I liked how the story was build up and you could see the world from every characters eyes. How they see what goes around them and how others see them.

The story itself is about a boy Jacob Hunt, who has Asperger's syndrome. The book shows life through Jacobs eyes as well as his mothers and brothers. How Jacobs condition affect them and people around them. I enjoyed reading this book and looking forward reading more from Jodi Picoult.

Katherine (katdylan) Week 4

Item Called: Boots
Book: An Irresistible Bachelor
Author: Jessica Bird
Rating: 4 Stars
Date Read: 01/11/2013
An Irresistible Bachelor (An Unforgettable Lady #2) by Jessica Bird

This is my first romance by Jessica Bird, and I really liked.
While it's not at all like the Black Dagger Brotherhood, it's still a page turner.
Her writing style is funny and engaging. and I found I liked the plot a lot.
Jack is the man who's got it all. He's rich, handsome, a great businessman and a fiancée to match all the perfect life. For more perfect his life is however, he doesn't expect to feel anything like love for any woman. That is until Callie walks in in his life.
Callie is a conservationist, her job is to bring old paints to their full glory. And she's damn good at that, too bad the art business is not at it's best moment.
Landing a job with Jack is a lifesaver for her, and she didn't expect to fall in love with the man, given how much he looks like someone from her past.

I like how their romance proceeds, I like that Jack is not an a-hole with his ex, and that he stands up for Callie. It's a bit hard for him in the beginning to understand and accept what he feels, but together he learns how to be truly happy. Nice twist plots by the end. Really engaging. I look forward to read more of Bird's work. 4 Stars.

Her Two Dads by Ariel Tachna

Quick Review:

I had high hopes for this book and wated to read it for a long time.
It was a bit of a let down, though.
The central plot (single dad + best friend + baby) it's a recipe for a loving, sweet book.
It was a bit boring, although and dragged for a long part. I wish I could have liked Her Two Dads better.
Even though I hadn't loved how the story goes, I liked Tachna's writing style, too bad on this book she didn't delivered.

Finished: 1/11/2013

I really loved Rock Chick and the eclectic cast of characters that we got to meet there. I was eager to continue the series even though I was unsure of Jet as the new narrator. I loved Eddie from the first book and I was excited to see him find love after being interested in Indy for so long. Eddie and Jet are great together, both in and out of the sensual/sexual situations. I had nothing to worry about with Jet. She has a great back story and she was as fun and unforgettable as Indy was as a narrator. It was great to see her “bloom” as many of the characters pointed out in the book. I always like seeing a character develop like Jet did and I look forward to seeing more of her and Eddie in the rest of the series, which I had to run to Amazon and buy the minute I was finished with this book (which only took me a day to read).

I am now and forever a Rock Chick fan.

Turtlecollector Dennis Week 7: Shoulder

A Town Called Valentine A Valentine Valley Novel by Emma Cane by Emma Cane
read 1/13/13 - 3 stars

This was a sweet romance with a woman coming back to her family's hometown to deal with some property and discovering a huge secret about herself. Her love interest has some old-fashioned values and tries to take care of her all the time as she is trying to become independent and self-reliant. It was mostly predictable as the storyline continued.

3. rainbow pg 83

"...with healthy apples in them."

Paris (pah13) Dyllan...the Rock Girl series kinda reminds me a little of the Stephanie Plum books, but better. The main characters are different in every book, but there's the same cast of funny characters that help the protag get in and out of trouble. There are some goof ups and lots of hotness when the guys are around. I laughed out loud a lot with the 2 books I've read so far. You should give it a try.

Will you hit me if I say I never read the Stephanie Plum's series? Lol. Janet Evanovich right?
I'm not sure, but The Rock Girl feels a little like chick-lit? I don't read much this genre, but if I had a good rec. may give a try.

haha...I won't hit ya. Yeah those books are by Janet Evanovich. They're good, but at the nineteenth book with no real changes it's a little old.

Rock Chick isn't really what I would call Chick Lit, I think they are humorous contemporary romantic suspense. lol I was a tad apprehensive at first, but I love them. I totally recommend them, but if you go buy the first one and you don't like it, please don't hate me. ;-)
