Hood :

Toe :
She danced back another step and kept on her toes...__Disc 1/Track 17 (00:38)
Emergency Vehicle :

Review:
Great characters, a compelling story and a paranormal world that still manages to be new and different in a genre where it seems like it's all been done before.

Dragos is the ultimate in protective, possessive alpha heroes and an absolute sweetheart in his dragon sort of way.

Pia is the rare heroine who actually longs for love, security and her Happily-Ever-After. She doesn't get bent out of shape every time Dragos gets a bit controlling. Very refreshing!

Dragos and Pia are what makes this story special. They're perfect together and a new favorite couple.

Melanie (lovebeingvegan) So sorry about the delay! I haven't even started it yet because I need to finish a review book for a blog tour, but I should have it done in a couple days along with my emergency vehicle book.

message 454: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) I'm almost done with mine it's sooooo good!

message 455: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) Dawn said a lot of people will be done with their items this next calling. It's possible we'll have a winner after the next two items are called.

message 456: by Jenne (last edited Jan 22, 2013 03:40PM) (new)

message 457: by Jennifer H (new)

Jennifer H Right now, if everything went perfect, I would need 2 more items to be called to be finished.

After this round is finished when will round 5 begin?

message 458: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) Same here after this week I'll have weather and clothing done. Then I'll need 2 more weeks to finish body parts and misc. if all is called right. It would be great for us if fruit is called on Friday!

I'm not sure when round 5 will kick off. In the past Dawn usually gets the next round going a month, month and a half later.

message 459: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) I finished mine earlier! So good ill have my review up probably in the am.

message 460: by Sam (new)

Sam (theliteraryhooker) I just added your book to my TBR pile, Jenne! It looks really interesting!

This is the problem with all my challenges: I sign up to try to make a dent in my TBR, but I just end up finding twice as many more books that I want to read LOL!

message 461: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) That's how it goes Sam lol!

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) Emergency Vehicle Week:
Read: Dark Inside (Dark Inside, #1) by Jeyn Roberts by Jeyn Roberts
Finished: 1/22/13
Rating: ★★★★★

Review:
Holy Crow this was GREAT! Super creepy and dark. There are still some unanswered questions so I'm dying to get to the next book. You have a group of several different people trying to survive. Each one suffered losses the day the Earth went crazy after earthquakes devastated various places. This honestly was a little scary and reminded me some of the movie the crazies. The more I read dystopian books the more I fall in love with this genre.

Items:

Rain: they studied the skies for locusts and watched for rain KL#48
Socks: her wet socks were as thin as nylons KL#3134
Toes: I can't feel my toes KL#3119
Emergency Vehicle: more ambulances arrived and stretchers KL#87

message 463: by Sam (new)

Sam (theliteraryhooker) Jenne, it might not be strictly dystopian/apocalyptic, but you might like Feed by Mira Grant. I read the trilogy last year and LOVED it, even though it's not something I'd normally read. I keep recommending it to everyone!

message 464: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) Cool, ill check it out. I think some of my friends have liked it as well. Thanks :)

Yes, Feed is a great book. I haven't read the rest of the trilogy yet.

message 466: by Sam (new)

Sam (theliteraryhooker) They get better and better! I was surprised by how much I loved them. The trilogy as a whole was definitely one of my favorite reads last year.

message 467: by Sam (new)

Sam (theliteraryhooker) Are there any rules about switching items after my review is posted? Or are we allowed to make changes until the point request is in?

message 468: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) You know what Sam I'm not sure this is the first time caps have reported points. I'd ask Dawn

message 469: by Sam (new)

Sam (theliteraryhooker) I'm still debating if it's even worth it...I'm trying to plan ahead for this week, but obviously it'll depend on what gets called on Friday. The only issue is that the book I'd like to read has stockings, but no belt, so I'm wondering if it would be worth switching what I claimed. Do you think I should wait or should I ask Dawn if it's even allowed?

message 470: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) If she does say its ok to switch the sooner the better. I'd ask as soon as possible.

message 471: by Sam (new)

Sam (theliteraryhooker) Okay so since we don't submit our items until everyone has the review up for that week, Dawn says it's not an issue to make changes before the point request is made.

I'll leave my post as-is for now and see where we're at on Friday, if that's okay :)

message 472: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) Sounds good

It will probably be at least March. It's Girl Scout Cookie Time here. I am a troop leader and Service Unit Cookie Manager, so the next few weeks are going to be too crazy for me to have enough time to check in everyday.

message 476: by Sam (new)

Sam (theliteraryhooker) I'm with Jennifer, the mint ones are the best! Unfortunately it's nearly impossible to get Girl Guide cookies here :(

Jennifer H Sam wrote: "I'm with Jennifer, the mint ones are the best! Unfortunately it's nearly impossible to get Girl Guide cookies here :("

Yeah, I can imagine you don't see many Girl Scouts in Canada :)

message 478: by Sam (new)

Sam (theliteraryhooker) We have Girl Guides here, but unless you know someone who has a daughter in the GG, they're hard to find. The building I used to work in sold them in the cafeteria and it was amazing LOL.

message 479: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) It's rainbow which isn't all that bad for us.

I ought to look in to how much shipping would be for them?

message 482: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) My book has everything left that I need plus rainbow. I guess I'll go for elbow and sky?

message 483: by Jennifer H (new)

Jennifer H Darn! The book I was planning on reading does not have rainbow in it :(

I'll make my decision on Monday what I'm going to read but most likely it will be between Outlander or The Last Victim. It all depends on the Rapid Reader's Scavenger Hunt.

Oh that would be amazing! I tried that with Girl Guides but again, it seems like if you don't personally know a Girl Guide, you're out of luck lol.

message 485: by Sam (new)

Sam (theliteraryhooker) I'll read Darkfever. That will give me rainbow, elbow, fruit and belt. So next week I'll only need nose.

That's my issue too. None of the books that have rainbow have the items I need for the Rapid Readers Scavenger Hunt this week. So I may either do more research when I get home, or hold off on starting Darkfever until Sunday or Monday and hope it has some of next week's items.

message 487: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) Jennifer you're brave to take on Outlander! It's soooooo long.

message 488: by Sam (new)

Sam (theliteraryhooker) Okay now I'm torn: I could use either Dark fever or (since my boyfriend was kind enough to pick up books 4 and 5 for me yesterday!) Magic Bleeds and get the same items. Decisions, decisions! LOL

message 489: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) Whew tough one! Both 5 star reads Sam!

message 490: by Melanie (new)

Melanie (lovebeingvegan) Week 7: Shoulder
I read: Waiting for Spring Waiting for Spring by Amanda Cabot by Amanda Cabot
My rating: 5 stars
Finished 1/22/2013

My review:

Waiting for Spring is only the second novel I've read by Amanda Cabot (the first being Summer of Promise), but I can already tell I'm a fan of her work! Waiting for Spring was a very enjoyable read that kept me interested throughout.

I loved the characters in Waiting for Spring, and couldn't help feeling for Charlotte and all she had gone through. She seemed like a very courageous woman, in spite of her fears. I loved the scenes with Barrett and David. It was so cute the way they interacted.

While the identity of "The Baron" isn't kept a secret from the reader, there was still a little bit of suspense to Waiting for Spring, which I really liked.

I was never bored while reading Waiting for Spring, but I will say I was surprised by the length of the story. At one point, I thought things were nearing the end, and I couldn't believe there was still a good chunk of the book left to read.

Overall, I loved Waiting for Spring and am looking forward to reading book three of the Westward Winds series, With Autumn's Return, which should release spring of 2014.

I recommend Waiting for Spring if you enjoy historical romances. I don't think it is necessary to read Summer of Promise first.

*I received a complimentary copy of this book for my review. I was not required to give a positive review, only my honest opinion - which I've done. All thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.*

Items:
Shoulder: "When he prepared to leave the next morning, Barrett clapped Dustin on the shoulder." - Page 261
Snow: "Snow on bushes." - Page 186
Necklace: On cover.
Fruit: "The man would not leave the morning room, where they were currently enjoying a late evening repast, complete with some of Mrs. Melnor's berry pie, until he was satisfied." - Page 62

message 491: by Melanie (new)

Melanie (lovebeingvegan) I'm really glad I didn't start Tidewater Inn yet. I can claim rainbow, bra, nose, and shelf with that book.

For my emergency vehicle book, I'll claim rain, sock, toe, and emergency vehicle. I'll have claimed all the items then! Woohoo! :)

message 492: by Jennifer H (new)

Jennifer H Jenne wrote: "Jennifer you're brave to take on Outlander! It's soooooo long."

I've been averaging 3 books a week so this kinda matches that...I just hope all the words at RR will be in the book (I know very wishful thinking...lol)

message 493: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) Ill get our points in first thing in the morning :)

message 494: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) Just requested 6 more points from shoulder week. This gives us an unofficial point total of 21. Next week someone will win more than likely. Everyone needs to have their books done by Friday, and reviews turned Melanie are you going to be able to get both emergency vehicle and rainbow reads done this week?

Here's what we have left to claim:
Rain: Melanie
Rainbow: Melanie
Belt: Sam
Bra: Melanie
Sock: Melanie & Jennifer
Nose: Melanie, Jenne, Jennifer, Sam
Toe: Melanie
Elbow: Jenne & Sam
Fruit: Jenne, Jennifer, Sam
Sky: Jenne & Jennifer

For rainbow week, I'm going to claim rainbow, elbow & fruit

message 495: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) Gah I gotta remove hood from the point request we have to have all emergency vehicle books for it.

message 496: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) Another thing keep in mind have your books as close to the 200 pages mark. I know we have quite a few who can read theirs in a matter of hours.

message 497: by Jennifer H (new)

Jennifer H No problem, Jenne! I can tell you one thing I WON'T be reading starting Friday...Outlander...lol :)

message 498: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) That would be the end of us lol :) I think it's like 31 hrs on audio! That's insane

message 499: by Melanie (new)

Melanie (lovebeingvegan) I'll definitely have both of my books done this week. I'm halfway done with my emergency vehicle book (it's really good!). I'm usually very quick with reading books, but I've been in a slight "not wanting to read" mood. :(

message 500: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) Not that I'm rushing at all :) it's just that Friday will be d-day. Also Thursday ill get all of our posts and links etc preset so ill be able to turn them in fast. Everyone look over their books for next week and find ones that are as close to the 200 minimum with items that you need. And hopefully we can pull it off!
