I hate that when that happens.

Jim son of Jim (formerly PhotoJim) (jim_formerly_photojim) | 80 comments Happy greetings to you all. I'm Jim. On some sites I'm PhotoJim and Jim_Son_Of_Jim_Son_of_Jim on others. I am a Pisces and enjoy long walks on the beach and deep conversations. Friends first and maybe more later.

OK, so really I'm just Jim and work as a photographer and spend a fair amount of time hanging out on message boards. I know many of you from a few other groups. I've been reading a fair amount of PNR and UF so thought I'd join this group as well.

Megsie | 17 comments Hi,
My name is Meagan and I'm a 26 year old bookaholic. I’m a Social Worker by trade and live in Australia. Thought I might introduce myself as it seems to be the thing to do here!! I remember reading Paranormal Romance since I was about 15 years old. My fetish started when I found an author by the name of Christopher Pike. I read his 6 book series The Last Vampire and loved it. I then progressed to L.J Smith but there weren’t that many authors out there as there is now. Since Twilight hit the shelves there are literally hundreds of PR authors out there!! I love reading and usually read about 3 books a week. Vampire and PR are my favourite books to read but I also love any other book you put in front of me. I love books about Africa and my favourite author/series are:

Diana Gabaldon – Outlander, Sara Donati – Into The Wilderness. Stephanie Meyer – Twilight, L.J Smith – Night World, Beverley Harper, Keri Arthur – Riley Jenson, Michael Connelly, Christian Jacq

I love TV Shows such as Supernatural, The Vampire Diaries, True Blood, Criminal Minds and Ghost Whisperer etc. In fact I could make a huge list as there are so many but those are the main ones. I love reading the chats in this Discussion format and look forward to participating in more.

Kez | 24 comments Hi people, I'm new here. I live in England and am a recent convert to this genre. Loving exploring it though. I am married with a beautiful 3 year old son. I am actually trying to write a book in this vein, I got a lead character and have written the first few pages. Though I have no experience or idea, I'm having fun at the moment and looking forward to all the fun books I have to read.

R. J. Hamilton (goodreadscomauthorrjhamilton) My name is RJ Hamilton, I'm a new author in Topeka, KS, 34 years old. I wrote this book while deployed to Iraq. It's a story told by the "hero", Brandon, an empath and telepath. Check out my site if you'd like to learn more http://rjhamilton.webs.com/ His life is turned upside-down when he meets the girl of his dreams who is just as extraordinary! Being a new author is a lot more difficult then I thought it would be. I am an avid fan of Anne Rice and was seriously upset when she announced that she wouldn't be writing any more of the Chronicles, I just love her style! JK had me with Harry, all the good one have to quit some time right? Thanks for your time everyone!

Ever since I finished Twilight I have been reading PR. I just joined and updated my bookshelf this morning. I hope to add more books to my To-Read list...I just can't seem to get enough PR!!

Frances (mothindarkness) Hi! I haven't read the Undead and Unwed series yet, but I LOVE her mermaid one. Fred is one of my fav. heroines. But, I'm a sucker for mermaid romance. I also love Katie MacAlister, especially writing as Kate Marsh, and I'm just getting ready to start my first Patricia Briggs novel. I met her at a con once and liked her so much, I figure, I'd better get on the fan-wagon!

message 174: by Erika (new)

Erika (etiner) | 11 comments Hello! Just wanted to introduce myself, I'm Erika and i'm a 34 year old fairly new book reader. I'm one of those that never read until I got sucked into the Twilight books and every since I can't not have a book to read. I usually have a book to read while I also have another book on audio on my ipod. I absolutley love Vampire stories and almost any paranormal romance book. My absolute favorite is JR Ward and her Brotherhood series, I love Charlaine Harris, and Nora Roberts to just name a few. There so many others to discover!

message 175: by Paige (new)

Paige You all have convinced me to join in and say hello.
I'm 39 and am apparently very similar to all of you!

I live in Houston, TX and am a teacher. My addiction to reading only started a year and a half ago. A friend's kids read Twilight and suggested I read it. I loved it (yes, I admit I did) and then a teacher I work with suggested I try the Charlaine Harris books (Sookie Stackhouse & Harper Connelly). After that I discovered Laurel K Hamilton (Anita Blake), Keri Arthur, Kim Harrison and so many more.

I can't figure out which author or which series/character is my favorite because they are all so vastly different.

Kathryn--you crack me up because I was just noticing my 'to read' section is dwindling. Thanks for posting your to-reads; it helps!

I've just finished up the Queen Betsy series (Mary Janice Davidson) and loved it. I'm working on her Fred the mermaid series right now.

My husband is super-excited at the moment because I've discovered this new phenomenon...the library.
He is excited because I now attempt to borrow the books before I purchase them. My switch from buy to borrow isn't going as smoothly as he had hoped because if I can't get it in a day I go purchase it (either in a store or online).

Meaghan (abookwormshaven) | 1 comments Hi, I am Meaghan! I am a teacher and part time bookseller in my 20s who has a serious book addiction! I love to curl up on the couch with my dog by my feet and escape into another world. I grew up with a father and a brother who put “The Lord of the Rings” in my hands as soon as I could read it, so fantasy genres are in my blood. Which is probably why I like the fantasy and paranormal genres the most, I live in this world everyday, I want my books to take me somewhere else.

I have a wonderful husband who is not a reader so I am constantly trying to find books to try to suck him into my addiction and every now I find one that he loves, but I am the reader between the two of us. Which actually works out well, because while he watches sports on T.V. I escape into a book! When I am not reading, I love photography, playing soccer, watching movies, and seeing as many Broadway plays/musicals that I can!

I just finished up the Rachel Vincent book Shift and cannot wait for October to get my hands on the last book Alpha! Too long to wait...in the mean time looking for some new paranormal books to read.

message 181: by Crystal (new)

Crystal (infinitestorm) | 10 comments Hey! My name is Crystal, and I just recently turned 25 years old. I've been an avid reader since I was fifteen when a friend introduced me to Harry Potter. Though I didn't start reading as much as I do now until after high school. Paranormal Romance became one of my favorite genres after reading Twilight and Vampire Diaries about two years ago. Obviously I loved both series, and after finishing both series I started looking around for more titles in the genre. Since then I've been reading any books that catch my interest. Lately I've been busy reading the Vampire Academy series as well as Sookie Stackhouse books. I'm always looking for new books and/or series to read. There always seems to be something out there that catches my attention.

Hello Meaghan--Sounds like we have quite a bit in common. I am also a teacher in my 20s, who is the avid reader of my relationship. However, my fiance doesn't like to watch sports, he would rather tinker on cars and when it is cold and snowing outside that isn't possible (we don't have a garage). So I find it rather difficult to find time to read! It is a constant struggle to balance the time :)

Heather in FL (heather_fl) Hi, I'm Heather in the Tampa area. I'm 40, married with two young boys and I work full time outside the home. I started with PNR through Twilight. I swore I'd never read it, but for some reason or other decided to try the first one. This is AFTER I saw the cheesy movie, lol (that I also swore I'd never see). Anyhoo... one book led to the other three, then to Karen Chance and Charlaine Harris, then to Mary Janice Davidson, Kim Harrison, most recently Patricia Briggs... My hubby thinks it's silly I read about vampires, but it's not just the vampires (or witches or faeries or were-things)... I love the worlds the authors build and the stories and the relationships. So I'm hooked. And I must say part of that hooking came in the form of my iPhone and the Stanza and Kindle apps...makes it very easy to keep my books with me and buy a new one when I finish a book. Anyway, I just joined this group. Not sure how active I'll be, but I'm always interested in hearing about other authors.

I should have mentioned that in my post... I think it was YEARS before I picked up Twilight that I'd read any fiction. Twilight gave me a love of reading, too.

Sarah | 1 comments Hi Everybody,

My name is Sarah and I live in Montreal, Quebec. I'm 24 years and I am currently finishing up my final semester in an Information and Library Technicians DEC.

I have always had a fascination with things that I couldn't explain and when I started reading everything I could get my hands on, I was really captivated with the paranormal.

I also enjoy other genres of romance but I have been hooked to PR for the past few years. I have also started reading YA paranormal novels and I have found them extremely well written and quite compelling.

I was very interested when I found Goodreads.com, but when I saw the ad for this group in their newsletter I couldn't help but join! Thanks TDF for creating this group!

Looking forward to reading all of your recommendations and hoping that I am able to do the same!

~*Sarah*~
