I hate that when that happens.

OK, so really I'm just Jim and work as a photographer and spend a fair amount of time hanging out on message boards. I know many of you from a few other groups. I've been reading a fair amount of PNR and UF so thought I'd join this group as well.

Don't feel so old I am up there too. It is a state of mind.

My name is Meagan and I'm a 26 year old bookaholic. I’m a Social Worker by trade and live in Australia. Thought I might introduce myself as it seems to be the thing to do here!! I remember reading Paranormal Romance since I was about 15 years old. My fetish started when I found an author by the name of Christopher Pike. I read his 6 book series The Last Vampire and loved it. I then progressed to L.J Smith but there weren’t that many authors out there as there is now. Since Twilight hit the shelves there are literally hundreds of PR authors out there!! I love reading and usually read about 3 books a week. Vampire and PR are my favourite books to read but I also love any other book you put in front of me. I love books about Africa and my favourite author/series are:
Diana Gabaldon – Outlander, Sara Donati – Into The Wilderness. Stephanie Meyer – Twilight, L.J Smith – Night World, Beverley Harper, Keri Arthur – Riley Jenson, Michael Connelly, Christian Jacq
I love TV Shows such as Supernatural, The Vampire Diaries, True Blood, Criminal Minds and Ghost Whisperer etc. In fact I could make a huge list as there are so many but those are the main ones. I love reading the chats in this Discussion format and look forward to participating in more.

x

So, just outta curiosity, is your To Read shelf longer than your Read shelf?
At least I know I'll never be bored. Here's a peek at my favorite series:

Hi I feel like I have the same book shelf as you. Have you read Mary Janice Davidson Undead and Unwed it is a series. I am on book #7. I really like it. Funny, sexy, exciting and romantic but more snarky than mushy. Give a try.

I have Black dagger on my to read list I have to look up the others. Tks

Lol, I hadn't read anything since Harry Potters and I only read the first three of those and stopped. But then I watched Twilight the movie and decided to read the books, and well I never stopped since. I started reading again last april. I have read 67 since then, good times good times.

Me too!

I agree

I'm 39 and am apparently very similar to all of you!
I live in Houston, TX and am a teacher. My addiction to reading only started a year and a half ago. A friend's kids read Twilight and suggested I read it. I loved it (yes, I admit I did) and then a teacher I work with suggested I try the Charlaine Harris books (Sookie Stackhouse & Harper Connelly). After that I discovered Laurel K Hamilton (Anita Blake), Keri Arthur, Kim Harrison and so many more.
I can't figure out which author or which series/character is my favorite because they are all so vastly different.
Kathryn--you crack me up because I was just noticing my 'to read' section is dwindling. Thanks for posting your to-reads; it helps!
I've just finished up the Queen Betsy series (Mary Janice Davidson) and loved it. I'm working on her Fred the mermaid series right now.
My husband is super-excited at the moment because I've discovered this new phenomenon...the library.
He is excited because I now attempt to borrow the books before I purchase them. My switch from buy to borrow isn't going as smoothly as he had hoped because if I can't get it in a day I go purchase it (either in a store or online).

OK so if you like verv and wit have you ever read PC CAST the Divine trilogy. I think you may like it. A little off from PNR but most definitely Romance Fantasy.
On my last Undead So sad weep weep sob sob I just can't decide what to read next. I have pre ordered some books and I have Fallen and Lover Awakened but I am enjoying the laughter what to do. Such big decisions LOL

I always buy. I know crazy but I use to do my nails I figure I am ahead!!!! Matbe I will read Fred Next I have to investigate. How many in the series. Tell me is it as good as Queen Betsey.
Some one posted they made it a TV show in Germany. I would love to see it.

Sorry if I made mistakes :S english is not my language but at least I try :D

thanks!
Frances

I have a wonderful husband who is not a reader so I am constantly trying to find books to try to suck him into my addiction and every now I find one that he loves, but I am the reader between the two of us. Which actually works out well, because while he watches sports on T.V. I escape into a book! When I am not reading, I love photography, playing soccer, watching movies, and seeing as many Broadway plays/musicals that I can!
I just finished up the Rachel Vincent book Shift and cannot wait for October to get my hands on the last book Alpha! Too long to wait...in the mean time looking for some new paranormal books to read.

It's funny what those twilight books can do to you huh, because I hadn't picked up a book in 6 years before reading the twilight books, now I can't put them down.

thanks!
Frances"
Marked is the first books of the House of Night series.

Hi, my name is Veronica and I just want to say that if you like the Anita Blake series, you'll probably like the Meredith Gentry series also by Laurell K. Hamilton, I know I did.

I do, it's just one of many I didn't think of in the 30 seconds max. that I used to post that. I love this group; as I go through the posts I am finding out about so many books and series that I've never heard of. Thank you so much! :)

Paige, I have the same problem...buying! Maybe I should check out this phenomenon...the library :) It is just so hard to wait and now that I have the Kindle the temptation to quickly purchase is high.

Hello Meaghan--Sounds like we have quite a bit in common. I am also a teacher in my 20s, who is the avid reader of my relationship. However, my fiance doesn't like to watch sports, he would rather tinker on cars and when it is cold and snowing outside that isn't possible (we don't have a garage). So I find it rather difficult to find time to read! It is a constant struggle to balance the time :)

Me too! Twilight sucked me in and I haven't stopped yet. Read those, then the Sookie Stackhouse seires (waiting for the next season of True Blood in June).
I'll have to look into your book shelf ;-) [I'm a S. Texas Gal.:]

I can't wait to read the anita blake series.

Hello Veronica, it is nice to find a place where you have kindred spirits and can discuss thing with other people on things such as books that you all share in common.

Hello cece, well there is the Black dagger brotherhood series by J.R. Ward, there is the Dark Hunter Series by Sherrilyn Kenyon and sooooo much more. What I do to get good ideas for books to read, is go look at my friends lists and see what books they have and their reviews on it and go from there.

pretty cool huh? :)

Looking into other memebers bookshelves on here is a great way to find new books, series, authors, etc...I am new to this site and it took me awhile to figure out how to navigate but now that I got it down, my To-Read section has grown immensely :)

I should have mentioned that in my post... I think it was YEARS before I picked up Twilight that I'd read any fiction. Twilight gave me a love of reading, too.

My name is Sarah and I live in Montreal, Quebec. I'm 24 years and I am currently finishing up my final semester in an Information and Library Technicians DEC.
I have always had a fascination with things that I couldn't explain and when I started reading everything I could get my hands on, I was really captivated with the paranormal.
I also enjoy other genres of romance but I have been hooked to PR for the past few years. I have also started reading YA paranormal novels and I have found them extremely well written and quite compelling.
I was very interested when I found Goodreads.com, but when I saw the ad for this group in their newsletter I couldn't help but join! Thanks TDF for creating this group!
Looking forward to reading all of your recommendations and hoping that I am able to do the same!
