For me, it's Dobby, no contest.

Richard i found Harry's walk into the woods to meet Voldemort to be the most affecting, when he asked his mum to stay close to him even if he couldn't see her i got choked up

and the moment earlier in the book when he gave mrs weasly a hug on his birthday and "tried to put so many things into the hug" - that was a sweet moment

but i realise both are parental moments, and i'm a parent

Zerah Dumbledore.

Sushma Jayaram Harry's parents

Zerah Sushma wrote: "Harry's parents"

haha they were always dead?

Dao Thanh Van Severus Snape.

Vismay It has to be Albus Dumbledore!!! I frigging hated Snape for that! But in 7th part when it is revealed that it was all part of the plan and Snape was all along playing by Dumbledore's orders - it seemed a little unreal to me!!!!!!!!!

Katherine Sirius! :c

Jannie Huang Dumbledore. :'(

Ibreathlivelovebooks So wait... are we discussing the entire Harry Potter series? Or just DH? Because Sirius and Dubledore died in earlier novels, whereas Harry's parents were dead the entire series. Really, way too many amazing characters died for me to pick the one that affected me the most. Fred, Tonks, Lupin, Dobby, Severus (dwelving into earlier novels)Dumbleddore, Sirius, and yes, even Hedwig, were all very sad deaths for me. (I am aware Hediwg died in the 7th book) Anyway, I really was quite sad to see so many people die, especially since some of them were my favorites.

Magenta Cooly I didn't cry at any of the deaths, or the entire series for that matter :/

Rory Dobby.

message 14: by Ruth (last edited Nov 11, 2012 05:13AM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Ruth Fred, without a doubt. I cried for poor Molly, whose boggart had shown her family dead, as her worst fear came true. And for George, losing his twin and his best friend.

Allison Dobby.

message 17: by Mary (new) - rated it 5 stars

Mary Snape. And I loved the whole chapter about Lily and Severus when they were kids.

Roxanne Sirius Black!

The moment Harry walks into the woods and asks his mother to stay is the one of the most heart wrenching moments I have ever experienced in a book! I cry just thinking about it! The other moment would be Severus Snape, when he asks Harry to look at him I just lose it!

Gin Fred, twins really hit home with me....

Karla Jocelyn wrote: "For me, it's Dobby, no contest."

i cried in that part both in the book and the movie very emotional.

Karla i cried a lot during many of the deaths in the series lol

Erin I was heartbroken when Fred died. The idea of losing your twin and best friend like that makes me choke up still. Also I was outraged when they killed Hedwig. And Sirius. Having no family and then finding some and then losing them again just sounds absolutely horrible for anyone, especially a child, to go through.

Carina If I am honest when reading the series it was Dumbledores death that undid me... but at that point I was really really into the books so by the time DH came out I was a bit fed up with the delay and felt the book wasn't as good as I had imagined it would be (nothing against Rowling at all).

In regards to the movies I must admit Dobbys death does get me, as does the Weasley twin and Severus.

Mary Ellen Cedric affected me the most. They way Harry held on and carried him out ... . Then Snape.

Jenika Ioffreda Sirius Black!!! Dumbledore too, but seing that it was all part of a plan it effected me less than Sirius...

averycait probably dobbys.

Bri Triffitt tonks and lupin wasnt that sad in the books. I cried so much woht fred and dobby though.

Elise Snape!! And the whole part of the story where you find out about him and Lily and that he was a good man all along, beautiful! Has stayed with me to this day <3

message 34: by [deleted user] (new)

Sirius Black and Dumbledore.

Kristy Hunter Hedwig. Her death was the death of the little boy Harry once was. After that he had to take on all the responsibilities that come with growing up and for Harry that included Voldemort.

Cclem630 Definitely Snape :(

message 37: by Farhia (new) - added it

Farhia Snape and Sirius

message 38: by Iara (new) - rated it 5 stars

Iara Snape and Dobbie

message 39: by Lori (new) - rated it 5 stars

Lori Fred and Hedwig

message 40: by Kate (new) - rated it 2 stars

Kate So many sad ones! I agree that when Harry walked into the woods to die, the conversation with his mom got me. But the actual deaths, either Sirius, or Dobby. Both loved Harry so fiercely, that when they were taken, it hurt.

Briyana Ruth wrote: "Fred, without a doubt. I cried for poor Molly, whose boggart had shown her family dead, as her worst fear came true. And for George, losing his twin and his best friend."<

Me too! You took the words right out of my mouth.

message 44: by Neha (new) - rated it 5 stars

Neha Sood FredFredFredFred!
The separation of the two forever-together Twins was too much for me :'(. They were SO cool together! The thought kills me. Why did Rowling have to do that to us?!
LoveFredAndGeorgeForever. :)

message 45: by Lily (new)

Lily Whiting Hedwig!

Sherry Dumbledore for certain, but also when Fred died was hard.

Sunny Fred and Remus

Sunny And Severus.

Adriana Villanueva From DH, it has to be Dobby and Snape, but overall I am never ever gonna recover from Sirius death, I cried for days.

message 50: by Jeni (new) - rated it 5 stars

Jeni In the books, Dumbledore. I know we spent WEEKS trying to figure out how he was faking his death.

In the movies, I cried hardest with Sirius and Snape and Cedric. Well done scenes.
