Questian: Thanks very much.Hi Monagin: good to see that there are a lot of people joining this club.
Tina wrote: "Hello, newbies! Welcome to TFG! :) Hope we could get to know you more in the other threads and maybe even meet you guys in the next book discussion? :) We will be discussing Love in the Time of Cho..."Thanks Tina, I already followed your advice.
Hi! I'm Edward.I'm not actually a fan of reading books, not until Summer of 2011 because I wasn't that excited about my parents sending me to college.
I'm now in my third year in college and reading books has been quite an impressive friend of mine, aside from those tangible ones. I like to be alone sometimes, in a quiet place like a sanctuary, and reading a good book there is the best option to do while hanging out and spending time with myself.
I read any book regardless of any genre, but if I have to decide, I prefer reading futuristic books (Is this what they call 'dystopian'? well, I guess so) as well as mystery and a little bit drama to add some spice to my emotionless daily life.
I read using my phone, and sometimes I buy books.
I usually read during non-school days, but not limited to legal and institutional holidays.
Even though I can read as much as 1 book per day (this is the fastest of them all, for me), I still can manage my pre-law subjects and other extra-terrestrial, I mean extra-curricular activities.
I have discovered this 'group' by some friend of mine and I am pretty much happy about the word 'Filipino', it sounded like 'home'.
So, to finish this one, I am happy to be here and introduce myself. I hope that I can gain many friends here that talks about books because when I talk about books in the classroom, they all got a "poker face".
Thank you and God bless this group.
PS.
Can you teach me about that pictures in the comment/review boxes that are moving. I really hate myself because I don't know how to do it.
Hi Edward. The way you discovered your love for reading books is almost similar to me. The only difference is that it was Harry Potter who got me hooked into the world of print.Dystopia might be considered as futuristic but they are called dystopia because the story is either characterized by dehumanization, totalitarian government, environmental disaster or any cataclysmic decline in the society. On the surface, dystopia would look like utopia but delving deeper, it's a frightening world because everything is just so controlled that you'd start asking yourself, what's the point of living?
Anyway, so glad to have you joining this group. :D
Hi Charlotte, Monagin, Edward! Welcome to the group. :) Charlotte: Ooh, I read those genres, too. Who are your favorite authors?
Monagin: I hope you enjoy your stay here. :) We're always interested in meeting the newbies.
Edward: Hi! Glad you're reading a lot while you're in college. I had to put some of my reading on hold back when I was still in college because I was too busy coding. :) I'm sure you'll find people you can talk to about books here, and I can definitely say the people here won't be poker-faced when you talk about books. :)
Thank you Questian, Mabelle, Charlotte and Tina.*Gulp*
It's so nice of you to give me feedback, comments and even answers to some of my questions.
But at the same time, I can't deny the fact that I'm a bit disappointed of this comment box of GR because I can't edit anymore if I already posted a comment or otherwise delete it, unlike in Facebook and Twitter.
If you have techniques on how to effectively use Goodreads, I will humbly let you teach me. :)
Edward: You can edit/delete your comment. There's a series of links at the bottom right corner of your post. :)
you can edit, just click the edit. but if you are going to edit using your mobile phone or tablet, it's not possible, i use mobile once i get home everynight and once you made a comment, you can't edit it....just click the edit command at the lower part of the comment that you made.

Let us give it a try, though...
1. Choose any gif or moving picture anywhere in the web.
2. Copy the image URL.
3. Then using this html code, insert the image URL of your choice.

Oooh...
Gon' try it laterss :)
Thanks anyway, Louize. And I'll be happy to meet Alexa AKA 'The .gif expert'!
EDWARD: if you're using Google Chrome, right click on the gif image and click "Inspect Element". This will yield the HTML code. Very nifty.

Hello! :) may question din po ako. :D what about po sa pag-a-update ng status? Can i add a photo sa general update status? May nakikita po kasi akong ganun minsan e. Salamat po! :))
Anne wrote: "Hello! :) may question din po ako. :D what about po sa pag-a-update ng status? Can i add a photo sa general update status? May nakikita po kasi akong ganun minsan e. Questian: It's at the bottom part of the currently reading panel when you go to your Goodreads homepage, right above "My Profile". Screenshot! :)
Ah..okay thank you!!! i was wondering what that was...wahahha...oh woe is me!!!! THANKS very much!!!

I've just only started reading Dystopias about 3-4 years ago. I started with The Giver and because I am somewhat picky, I only managed to read a few during those years.
Right now, I would say that I like Veronica Roth and Veronica Rossi. Lauren Oliver and Ally Condie would have fallen into that category too but decided that I was too pissed off with the series endings of Delirium and Crossed. *sighs*
If you can suggest to me another Dystopian book that has consistent writer, I would appreciate it so much.
Nice meeting you, by the way. :D
Charlotte: I've read Veronica Roth (sorta lukewarm about her series, but I like it enough to keep reading) but haven't tried Rossi yet. I definitely recommend Patrick Ness' Chaos Walking series (The Knife of Never Letting Go, The Ask and the Answer and Monsters of Men). :) Other TFG members can vouch for him, too. :) Oh, and Unwind by Neal Shusterman! It's been ages since I last read this book, but it's really, really good. :)
If you're into post-apocalyptic dystopia books with a touch of...er, zombies, I recommend Mira Grant's Newsflesh series (Feed, Deadline and Blackout). If you want a bit of paranormal stuff, Angelfall by Susan Ee is the best I can think of. :)

Okay, I'm going to police myself and say that I should be posting this in the Recommendations thread. Hehe. ^^;
Hi Tina, thank you very much. I will definitely add these into my "to-read" list which I will be doing right now. :D
Done already. I don't have any problem with reading about zombies since one of my favorite movies for 2013 is World War Z. It would be good to read something about zombies. I'm not keen on reading the World War Z novel though.
Hiyah guise!! I've been in this group for a while now and I haven't actually introduced myself so here. Haha I'm Karl! Or Karly. Idk just call me whatever you want hahaha :)The 1st book that I've read was way back when I was in Grade 3 or 4? There was a 'Scholastic Book Sale' in my old Elementary school. I found this book with this really cute guy in the cover and some really weird animalistic transformation going on there. It was Animorphs: The Invasion by Katherine Applegate and ohmygods the feels on that book when you're a child is just superb!! Imagine if you can transform into any animal and you're like only 7-9 years old.
Hahaha since then I've been a fan of Animorphs (although I've only read 3 of those books back then) and I made my parents buy me the Video Game of Animorphs and yeah that was it :)
I wasn't totally into books right away cause I was always busy playing with my sister and my cousins and my neighbors etc. I've gone back to reading when I was in High School and saw my classmate reading Beastly and I borrowed it and yeah I was totally hooked!!
I'm a 3rd Year College student right now and I'm studying BSIT in QCPU (Quezon City Polytechnic University) at QC Novaliches [so if your're near, *wink wink*] Hahaha jk!
I'm into lotsa kinds of genres! I'm into dystopian novels, romance, ya, fiction and many many more. The same with my taste in music :) Everything I read deserves a 5-star rating because I wouldn't actually read in to the end if it's not that good.
My fave books are THG, PJO, HoH, Divergent, Mara Dyer, TMI, TID, TFIOS, WGWG, The Curse Workers etc. +++ :) :) :)
So yeah I'm really looking forward to meeting you all! I love making friends and hopefully find 'the one' here :) Hahahahaha hopefully! Thanks for reading this btw!! :)
Charlotte: Oh, I hope you like Mira Grant, then. Her books are available in Fully Booked. :)Hi Karl! OMG, another Animorphs fan! :D My best friend introduced me to them when I was in Grade 5 and I got hooked (view spoiler) I still have my collection, and I'm missing several books before the end because my interest waned by the time I got to high school. But I loved them, and they're a big part of my younger reading life. :)

same here ohmygods! he's so adorable and troubled i was so curious back then! :) hahaha I've only got 3 of them, sadly because the Book Sale had to move away :( but it really was an awesome childhood growing up with them!! :">
Hi. I'm Meliza. I suddenly decided to introduce myself. This is my first post here in the group. But I've been a member of Goodreads and the group since December last year. I'm reading your posts naman. Lurker mode lang. Hehe. Mahiyain ako sa hindi ko kilala. I've seen "Buddy Reads" of "A Clash of Kings". I'm currently reading the book. I still don't know much about Buddy Reads, F2F and other activities. So basabasa muna ko ng discussion boards. And then maybe soon, I could join the activities within the group.
hi guys :) hoping for new friends to interact with :)Jane Austen, Michael Crichton, John Steinbeck, Anne Rice , Agatha Christie, Conan Doyle -- yan ang mga "comfort authors" ko..
Questian wrote: "Hello lucresia~!!YOur name remind me of the name of a game that i have once played..."

lucresia wrote: "hi guys :) hoping for new friends to interact with :)Jane Austen, Michael Crichton, John Steinbeck, Anne Rice , Agatha Christie, Conan Doyle -- yan ang mga "comfort authors" ko.."
I'm a fan of Arthur Conan Doyle. I still have to decide whether I like Anne Rice.
Hello guys. New member here. I'm from Ilocos, anybody else who's from around here? Cause I would very much like to experience face to face book discussion, it sounds fun. Heh. This is the first time I get to meet people in here, and I know through this group, my shelves will be filled with more books (which reminds me I have to really update it. Hehe. Anyway, have a good day to you all.
Hi!!!
Hehe. Only used the site before talaga to look for books. Not even bothered with shelves before.
