My mom has a papasan chair on the patio and sits in it all the time. It's retty ugly (the material) but she adores that thing. She's a big reader too, and likes to curl up there with a cat or two, a book and a drink:) Her idea of heaven.

Well my mom is pretty squishy and flexible (LOL) so maybe that's why she loves it. She sits cross legged in it.
Squishability and flexibility are generally recognized as the main requirements of people who wish to sit in papasan chairs. I am neither.
Ummm...no. I'll have to edit again. Gosh, it never ends...LoL! Thanks. My keyboard will not type a capital o. How weird is that?
If I type an o on shift or caps lock nothing shows up. Good thing I only have 3 more days to use this keyboard! It's the one at my desk at work.
The Jane Austen Book Club A Novel - Karen Joy Fowler: On my TBRThe Tales of Beedle the Bard - J.K. Rowling: My favourite fables from the book were The Fountain of Fair Fortune and The Warlock's Hairy Heart but even these were average. No excitement was shown throughout any of the stories and I would say they are more fables than fairy tales.

I loved the story but it did stop me functioning for the rest of the day and only got weaker the following days....but it is my favourite.
Here's the funny thing. I bought Howl's before we went on vacation, and the kids left it at the pool and someone took it. Last week I ordered it from the library, and when I was told it was in, it was not. It was a different Wynne-Jones, one of a series, not even the first. It's supposed to be coming, but I AM NOT holding my breath, so if you want to...Of course I would be eternally gratefull:)
The children had started reading it, and liked it, before it was lost.
I finished Sabriel, and am very, very glad the next two in the series are already out. I don't plan on reading the second book next, but wouldn't be happy with waiting 2 years for it either! Thanks for the rec, Allison.
Claire wrote: "Sabriel is on my TBR pile."You should read it! Do you have it, already, or need to get it? Either way, they are all available at my library, no waiting, so I bet you can borrow it from yours. It was very, very good.
54 books so far. I am pretty sure I will make 100 by December, but I guess it all depends on my fascination with bricks!!!
I just started a Northern Light and it's already sucked me in. I can't believe hw much YA I have been reading. (and loving!)
Kandice wrote: "I just started a Northern Light and it's already sucked me in. I can't believe hw much YA I have been reading. (and loving!)"ooo you'll love the whole thing I'm sure :)
A Northern Light Was such a beautiful read. I love it when an author really captures the voice of a character and makes me believe it was "written" by that character. **************SPOILER******************
What a surprise to find the story had that kernel of truth!
I like Diana Wynne Jones' style, but both books I have read of hers seem to be lacking. She creates these entirely new worlds for just a few hundred pages. Seems like her books should be bricks or series. These short ones don't do her writing, or imagination, justice.
I'm not complaining, Fiona!!!!! I think the worlds she creates are wonderful, I just wish there were more stories set in them. I guess I will HAVE to read that Chrestomanci series now, because it just feels like I am being cheated, somehow, to only get these little tastes! At least I know the library has all of them. And, thank GOD I wont have to wait 24 years to finish!!!
I got the 3 book series at the library today of 30 Days of Night. I just finished the first, and it was terrific. I wish they had ALL been available. At least I have two more to look forward to. The story is sparse, the illustrations gory, but excellent.
I see those all the time at B&N, and I have always wanted to check them out, but I didn't want to just BUY them. I remember loving the way that the vampires looked in the movie... They were creepy, but I loved looking at them!

Ha ha!!! Congrats, Sallie on your 28.:)Becky, I strongly suggest you get them at the library. I wouldn't buy them either ($60 bucks worth so far!) but they are so worth the read! The illustrations/art work are so unique. I know some people would be grossed out, but not me. I could study the panels for hours.
*swears she's not a freak!!!*
I only counted each as a third, because it didn't seem quite fair to count them as whole. I need ot finish Anne so I can get 60!!!!
If you're a freak then I am too, because I swear I watched the movie 3 times in a row, just fascinated by the amount of teeth the vamps had! :D
I have NOT seen the movie, but now I HAVE to! I can't believe it took me so long to read these. I could not stop reading yesterday. I know there's very little actual reading, but I studied those drawings as if my life depended on it. I read in the kitchen as I cooked dinner. I read between washing a few dishes, doing laundry and sweeping and mopping. I even "let" Brady sit in the front seat with his dad on the way to Lowe's so I could sneak a few glances at the books in the back seat.
I LOVED it Allison! Thank you so much, not for pushing, but making me aware, that it was a really lovely book and I needed to read it.
Just finished an excellent, make you think book. I've been reading mostly YA lately, so I need to choose something that's not. Hard to do when I have so many of those staring at me!
65 puts me ahead of schedule. I am no longer going to be embarassed about reading graphic novels or feel bad about counting them. Neil Gaiman was reading one when we interviewed him, and he wasn't embarassed about it, so there!!!
And K, you're officially ahead of me. I'm only at 61. *Grumbles and shoots death-glares at bunny book*

Not for long, I am very sure:)
I started The Gunslinger again...it's pretty much exquisite! I'm saying that, knowing it is the least fave of the series, so I'm feeling sad I waited this long.
I'm glad that you are liking it now!! Yay! The Gunslinger isn't my favorite of the series either, but it does show where Roland has come from to get where he is, and picks up his journey with a bang... The Drawing of the Three is really where the series starts getting fantastic, but I love Eddie Dean, so... *shrug* I'm biased. ;)I really hope that you love this series! I do. :D
