Buddy Read: The Way to a Duke's Heart - 11/01/12
Hey Dhes. Here's your chance to say you turned me onto to historical romances. The romance genre as a whole is new to me, so we shall see.I'm excited to be reading something very different for me and outside my normal comfort zone!
Awesome, Grace! I hope you can find one. I know it's $5.69 @ amazon right now for the Kindle format.

I got my book and the power back, I'm ready to go...How exactly does this work now? I don't think I've ever done a buddy read on Goodreads before.

We'll be reading and discussing the story, likes and dislikes, reactions to characters and situations. I messaged the author and invited her to follow along and suggest any talking points or answer questions, if she felt so inclined :)It's like a offline book club meeting, just online.
I'm really enjoying this story so far. The author goes into quite a bit of detail regarding heirs and their responsibilities, but also how stringent and rigid their upbringing can be.Most often the historical romance stories I read start with the heir already a rake, rogue or libertine with a trail of broken hearts and maidenheads in his wake, with little little else along the lines of back-story and world building. Honestly, I LOVE getting a glimpse of Charles' life, from infancy to adulthood!
I haven't started it yet! Don't tell me any spoilers or good moments. :P Also, should I have read the book before this to have a better reading experience or is it okay on its own?
Diana, I've read that the author did a great job of giving us the backstory, so it's not a problem to read out of order, which I am, too.

Eeeeeep! Pamela is done! I need to get back to it. They just called and my computer is ready for pick-up.
I'm a couple chapters in and I'm not sure I like the hero. There's something about him I find unappealing; I'm hoping that this changes the further I get into the story.

Ok, I absolutely LOVED Charles de Lacey! And loved the fact that Tessa was soooooo unconventional! I laughed out loud, my heart was moved, there was things I didn't expect! It was wonderful. I want to know all about his brothers! I could go & on...(view spoiler) OMGOSH!

Charles de Lacey, Lord Gresham, is running out of time, running from his responsibilities, and running from love.
Destined to be a duke, Charles de Lacey has led a life of decadent pleasure, free of any care for propriety or responsibility. It comes as a terrible shock to learn that he might be stripped of everything, thanks to his father's scandalous past. He has no choice but to find the blackmailer who would ruin him—and his only link to the villain is a woman who may be part of the plot…
To save his fortune and title, he vows he'll stop at nothing—in fact, he's all too eager to unravel the beautiful, tart-tongued Tessa Neville. She intrigues him and tempts him like no other lady ever has. With only his heart to guide him, and keenly aware that his entire future is at stake, Charles must decide: is she the woman of his dreams, or an enemy in disguise?
