Yes, they are.
@Dhes, I just downloaded the 1st two of this series. Let me @ those brothers! LOL! Thanks so much for hosting this Buddy Read Dhes. I hope others are enjoying it as much as I did. I think I loved Tessa because I'm a bold, kinda girl too but nerdy in my own way & my hubby loves me because of that very fact! ;)
I'm so happy to hear it, Lisa Jo! I love discovering new authors, and sharing that discovery with you all has been such fun! I'll be finishing up tonight or tomorrow and can't wait to chat about the whodunnit!
You know, I hate to say it, but I keep falling asleep reading this book. This is nothing against the book, just related to what I have going on in my life right now... By the time I hit the sheets and start reading, I'm so exhausted, I fall asleep. I wish it was on audio, as I am getting a book listened to doing all my chores this week-end. Anyway, I have finally finished Chapter 2, and I must say I really like Tessa.
I agree that I found Charles a little hard to warm up to in the beginning, but I think that was because of the nature of his leaving home (I was at the gym yelling "You're going to regret this!" at the book--which clearly shows I was engaged, lol ). But I warmed to him pretty quickly (about 50% finished).
Lisa Kay, it's hard for me to stay awake these days with my parents here. My mom is soooooo demanding! LOL!Charles is making me laugh with his "denial" of his feelings.
I liked Charles. I guess I expected him to be a little dour at first. After all, he is on a mission and can't have needless distractions. Plus, remember he was injured. His leg hurts :( Poor baby! Come here and let me give you a hug!!!!
LOL!!! I bet you'd hug more than his leg!Yeah, I agree with you, though. He had it rough for most of his life, and then the injury, too. Not the makings for a happy go lucky guy, that's for sure.
Lisa Kay, I meant his "Other Leg"! LOL! And yes, you totally meant to say that! You Lisa-Lisa, you! ;)
Lisa Kay wrote: "...and the one in the middle...I did NOT just say that, did I?"Oh, yes you did! LOLOL!

How is everyone doing? I finished and posted my review here: Dhes' Review of The Way to a Duke's HeartIn an email exchange the author offered to stop by and answer questions. Would anyone be interested in having her do so?
Oh, Alycia! I'm so glad to hear you've been able to start. I know life has been a mess (literally) lately, so I'm happy you finally have time to read!
I would love to have the author answer questions or talk about the story. I still haven't got past the first couple of chapters. I keep putting it off because I'm afraid I'm not going to like the book. :/

I'll be sure and let her know that we're interested in asking questions! She sent me quite a bit of information, and I'll post it a little later, but start thinking of questions!
Okay, it's not my favorite intallment in the series, but it was a pleasant read. It's worth it just for its unconventional heroine . Charly's Character was harder to love IMHO: He seemed so shallow in the first installments that I had some prejudices about him . . .
Whatever, I quite enjoyed this series & I especially recommend :
*the prequel novella
(the loving Aunt's story) *the first installment
(Edward's Story)
Thanks, Valie. I didn't read the previous books so I don't know how Charlie's character was developed there. But I never disliked him. I liked him from the beginning.
I like Charlie. I'm 125 pages in and wonder about Hiram Scott and the scandal. I'm having a hard time liking Tessa.
I finally finished! Although I did find the story enjoyable, I didn't really connect to the Charles or Tessa I'm writing down my thoughts to see if I can pinpoint exactly what I had a problem with.

I don't remember disliking him, but as you go on, he really becomes someone to cheer for!
