Shelby I went out yesterday and got 3 books. Torment by Lauren Kate, Thirst 2 by Christopher Pike, and Nightworld No.2 by L.J. Smith. I have been wanting to get these for a while and finally got them! Yay :)

Lol Rachel, it is a real big book, but I look forward to reading it this next month.

Shelby you got some great books. So glad you were able to get them. Great finds!

Kathryn (kcanty313) | 1870 comments Janie, did you see I got Black by Ted Dekker? I thought of you when I bought it. I think I might try to read it next year.

This was one of the Oprah's books I did not read. And I forgot why.

message 205: by Kathryn (new)

Kathryn (kcanty313) | 1870 comments A lot of Oprah's books sound good to me. In fact, she introduced me to two of my all-time favorite novels. Every now and then she has a book which doesn't sound like something I'd like. I have several of her's on my to-read list.

message 206: by Veronica (new)

Veronica (veraj121) | 328 comments I wanted to load up my Nook with more books. But I restrained myself. I need to read the books I already have. Lets see how long that will last. smh

You're just like me. Sometimes I feel like I have a ton to read, and I do. But then, sometimes I'm searching for that one book.....

Kathryn as soon as I read your post I had to compare the ones we both had. I need to get Black. I have Red and White. So glad you were able to find that one! Maybe we will be doing buddy reads on them!

message 210: by Kathryn (new)

Kathryn (kcanty313) | 1870 comments Oooh, yes!!! That would be cool to read the whole trilogy!

message 211: by Chris (new)

Chris (cbrunner11) | 674 comments I will be buying the Shining after Christmas so I can do the buddy read in January. I look forward to our trip to the book store after Christmas. I have a ton to read but I want new books in the worst way. :-)

Kathryn, Dustin assures me that they are worth the read! I have to believe that lol. He told me the same about Adam and it was phenominal! And I loved thr3e and the bride collector. I just dont feel like I can lose with Dekker.

J.S. Bailey (jsbailey) | 30 comments I purchased the bottom three books directly from the author (they're signed and personalized), and the top four were Christmas presents:

Oh very nice JS! I have a book that I just received from A GR Author Chris Ward. I am looking forward to reading it and then doing a review for him. It sounds like a very good book, The Man Who Built the World

message 222: by Veronica (new)

Veronica (veraj121) | 328 comments Ok. I buckled in. This is what happens when you work close a B&N and Strand's. I purchased The Shining by Stephen King , Needful Things by Stephen King , & Bright Young Things (Bright Young Things, #1) by Anna Godbersen . In a physical book mood.

The Shining is tied with The Stand for my all-time favorite King novel. I haven't read Needful Things yet, though. Great purchases. :)

message 224: by Veronica (new)

Veronica (veraj121) | 328 comments I read the Shining when I was in HS. And I love the Stand. I never finished Needful Things

Drew | 17 comments Veronica wrote: "I read the Shining when I was in HS. And I love the Stand. I never finished Needful Things"

I love all things King, I have to admit though that The Stand has plummeted in my rankings of King's writings, I really don't like the God saves the day ending. It is a fun read and I will always enjoy it but just not as much as others in King's repertoire. Needful Things is one I need to do a re-read on, I remember enjoying the read and a few characters but that's it. The Shining is in my top 5 King novels.

message 226: by Kathryn (new)

Kathryn (kcanty313) | 1870 comments Just to let everyone know, you can purchase Stephen King's Under the Dome on Amazon Kindle or Amazon Kindle App (Which is free for your PC or Mac), TODAY ONLY for $1.99.

message 227: by Chris (new)

Chris (cbrunner11) | 674 comments I'm getting UTD, I was so excited it was part of the Daily deal. I have already read it but I got the audio from the library. This is going to be great for a reread.

message 228: by Kathryn (new)

Kathryn (kcanty313) | 1870 comments I am tempted to get it for my Kindle, but I actually own the paperback version. Going to read it next year, actually. :)

I enjoyed UTD so much! It was an awesome read!

message 230: by Chris (new)

Chris (cbrunner11) | 674 comments It is tough to pass up for 1.99 but since I don't currently own it I am excited to get it. I have gift cards I need to load onto Amazon first otherwise I'd have it by now. It was a great book, and one of the characters in this book is on my most hated character list. Even today I haven't topped the pure sneaky evil this guy is capable of. I hope you like it when you get to it Kathryn.

message 232: by Damali (new)

Damali | 17 comments Kathlyn, I suggest in this instance, you should splurge and get the Kindle version. I have the HC also, but it is so huge that I almost seriously hurt myself trying to read in bed. :)

The audiobook version of UtD is excellent if you all want to go that route.

message 233: by Veronica (new)

Veronica (veraj121) | 328 comments I'm mad its $1.99. I purchased at the regular price for my Nook. Oh well, it was worth the money..

Yay! I can't wait to read the Shining with you:D Look in your friends favorites shelves. That always helps me when I can't decide what to buy:D

message 236: by Shell (new)

Shell (shellcampbell) | 757 comments Went to some second hand shops over the Christmas break and picked up super cheap copies of The Boat, Angel Puss, and Sphinx.

I also got given The Foodies Diary 2013as a Christmas gift.

Yay Chris! Enjoy the Shining! One of my favorite King books!

message 238: by Chris (new)

Chris (cbrunner11) | 674 comments So I haven't technically bought this yet, but I per-ordered this months ago. Tomorrow I will have Triple Threat auto downloaded to my Kindle. Deaver is my favorite author, and I love his short stories. This is three short stories and one of them will have a character he hasn't written in at least a decade. Can't wait to read this.

Chris I can't wait to dive into some Deaver. Our UBS is full of Deaver books! I love it! So next on my agenda is to buy more! I have 2 deaver books now that I need to read. But they are on my challenge shelf! So they will be read in 2013

message 240: by Chris (new)

Chris (cbrunner11) | 674 comments I really hope you like them Janie. I love them and can't wait to see what you think. The Lincoln Rhyme series is my favorite, but the Kathryn Dance stuff is also really good. Those characters also cross over from time to time which is always fun for me. I might just do a re-read of Deaver's stuff this year like I wanted to in 2012.

message 241: by Holly (new)

Can you believe that I got a Target card for christmas and could not find a single book? There were no paperbacks i liked but they did have Gone Girl in hardback. I resisted though because I would have only bought a paperback later and gotten rid of the hardback.

Holly great books there! Enjoy!

message 244: by Holly (new)

Holly | 1184 comments Thanks Chris. I can't wait to dive into The Lord of the Rings. I have The Hobbit too, so when I get around to them I'm going to read them back to back. I can't wait to dive into my new books! :-)

message 245: by Holly (new)

Holly | 1184 comments That stinks Janie!

Thanks; I can't wait to dive into them!

message 246: by Chris (new)

Chris (cbrunner11) | 674 comments Rarely have I found books I wanted to buy at Target. Usually they have the ones I have already bought so no need to buy it again. I will admit if I had a Target gift card, books would be the last thing I would think of buying. My boy is still in diapers and those can be expensive. I'd blow the GC on those and maybe some groceries. I'm a practical man. Good luck on the book hunt. Occasionally you can find some real good deals.

message 247: by Janie, Group Owner & Book Addict (new)

Janie Johnson | 6303 comments Mod
LOL Chris I guess I am just as practical! I spent the GC on stuff to make some smoothies! So I got to use my new Ninja blender! LOL They were really good!

message 248: by Holly (new)

Holly | 1184 comments I've bought books from Target a couple of times. I mostly get mine from Walmart because they always seem to have the books I want. :-)
