What books have you bought lately?
Oh, goodness, I just had a little spree this morning. Let's see... E-books:
Bubba Ho-Tep
Incident On and Off a Mountain Road
Bullets and Fire
Tight Little Stitches on a Dead Man's Back
Steel Valentine
Monster Hunter Legion
Glampire
The Jewel of Seven Stars.
The Six-Gun Tarot
Hardcover:
To Sail a Darkling Sea
S.
Skin Game (that one is a preorder)
Most of the e-books were 99 cents, a couple were free, one was more than I'd usually spend on an e-book, but I like the author and I want to read the book, and it's still less than the paperback... :-) I used up a bit more than half my Amazon gift card, but hey, that's why it's there, right? :-)
Ah, I remembered that I needed to buy one more e-book, which was
Retribution
. I had a PDF ARC, but wanted the final copy. A.J. Scudiere is one of my favorite authors, up there with Randy Attwood and Arshad Ahsanuddin.
Janie wrote: "Kelly wow that is a great sale! I would skip work to go too. Jen I think you should totally bought them all. LOL I dare you too next time heh!"
If they are there next time I will! I already had about 10 books that I was not putting back. My husband was looking at me "sideways" so I had to play it cool. Lol!
Judy wrote: "I love my kindle but sometimes I just need to get to a library or bookstore to look around"Yes, me too! That book smell is great!

Definitely enjoy spending your gift card! I have reserves for the future when I get that urge :^)
My husband needs to go to Barnes and Noble tomorrow to buy a GMAT book for school, and he's "allowing" me to buy some books. hahahe better give me a budget ;-)
Uh-Oh Alissa you better tell him to look out! If my hub ever told me that we would be in trouble, however my hub has been known to spend some money in B&N. So it's all good. Usually though I buy bargain most of the time.
I just have one book to mention right now and that is Hollowland by Amanda Hocking. I learned from booktube that Amazon had it for free so I snatched it up.
Janie wrote: "I just have one book to mention right now and that is Hollowland by Amanda Hocking. I learned from booktube that Amazon had it for free so I snatched it up."I hope you like it. I thought it was pretty good.
Thanks to Janie's comment here and over on the "What Time is it..." thread, I also picked up a copy of Hollowland. So hopefully that will be it for today, but one never knows...
Thanks Kelly! I hope I will like it too. Not sure when I will get to it but my reading seems to have picked up now so I could actually squeeze it in anywhere LOL
Katy I am glad you got a copy of it. I hear Amanda Hocking is a great writer. I know my husband liked her Trylle trilogy. So I am hoping I will like her stuff.

Great haul, Courtney!I picked up a couple freebies on Amazon today, completing a series (so far). They were:
Fatal Retribution and Grave Omen . Those are books 1 and 3; I'd had book 2 since Dec. 2012, oddly.
Two more books to add to my collection, The Charm School by Nelson Demille and Worth More Dead by Ann Rule.

...and then a few others.... it was a good day :)
I went to my UBS today also. I was obviously in a Koontz mood!Hardcover
The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown
Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown
Intensity by Dean Koontz
The above were all a dollar
HP Half-Blood Prince
HP order of the Phoenix
Paperback
Four Great Tragedies Hamlet, Othello, King Lear, Macbeth by Shakespeare (Reading Macbeth for school)
Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd
Dean Koontz paperbacks
Mr. Murder
Strangers
Demon Seed
Darkfall
False Memory
The Mask
The Vision
It was a good day. My grandma found a 5 cookbooks for a dollar each and she is happy about that. Has anyone read any of these books? Excluding HP because I'm the last person on Earth who likes HP ans hasn't finished the series. Which Koontz book do you recommend me reading first?
I went to the Restore today and brought back with me 11 books. Clive Barker:
Sacrament
Galilee
Anne McCaffrey:
Dragonflight
Dragonquest
The White Dragon
Dragonsdawn
Crystal Singer
Killashandra
Crystal Line
Pegasus in Flight
H.G. Wells:
In the Days of the Comet
I got all that for $5.50. Yeah, I got quite a few books by Anne McCaffrey. She is an author I have been really wanting to read for quite sometime now. I finally got more than I expected to from her.

Out of the ones you listed, I have only read two of three of the Koontz books you got. My favorite one out of those three has to be Demon Seed. I recommend reading that one first! I love how that one is written in the point of view of the crazy computer.
The Vision was good just not one of his best books. Too little detail, way too much talking.
If you like Demon Seed, I recommend looking up my other favorites by him, The Odd Thomas Series, The Voice of the Night, and Night Chills.

Mr Murder is a good one, that was the first book I've read by Dean Koontz.
I read all of those koontz books accept for False Memory which I started and just could not seem to get into. I would like to try it again though.

I am a huge Anne McCaffrey geek. You picked up some of my favorite books from her. I particularly like the Crystal Singer trilogy. I hope you enjoy!
I just picked up a bunch of books from the Baen Free Library - 14 to be exact. I'm not going to do the "add book" thing because it would take too long. They are:
Time Traders
The Creatures of Man
The Course of Empire
Star Soldiers
Genellen: Planetfall
Draw One in the Dark
Caliphate
A Desert Called Peace
There Will be Dragons
The Warslayer
Gust Front
Emerald Sea
Fledgling
Agent of Change
I already had a few of them in paperbacks, but I like having the e-book backups for if the cats destroy the physical book. Bad damn cats...
Janie wrote: "I read all of those koontz books accept for False Memory which I started and just could not seem to get into. I would like to try it again though."I'd heard that False Memory is quite different than his other books, but then again all his books are different, LOL!
@ Katy I haven't read anything by McCaffrey. Since I first saw a couple of the in my school's library, they always have intrigued me, especially the Dinosaur Planet series because I am a HUGE dinosaur geek. I do really love the cover of the book Killashandra.

Intensity and Darkfall... he is always a little twisted. especially his early stuff.... now that he took the R out of his name and added a toupee, his work is just weird. :O
That's funny, Alondra. I have heard a lot of good things about Intensity. Chapterstackss on Youtube did a review and really made me want to check it out. I actually started Darkfall years ago, but my dog ate half of it. That's why she's gone. We actually had to move and couldn't bring her with:(
I bought Ruby Red and Emerald Green (the 1st and 3rd books in the Ruby Red Trilogy by Kerstin Gier) but I couldn't find Sapphire Blue (the 2nd book) anywhere, not even online for months. I found it, just sitting on a shelf, hardcover and everything. Where? Superstore. I found it in a grocery store.

Victor, Intensity was a really good book, one of my favorite Dean Koontz books.

When will you start To Kill a Mockingbird??
For me, it was last in my TBR for this month (though now I think I can read at least another book in this month).
Saw a review for
Catapult: When Cats Fly
and it looked so cute that I ordered a used copy from Amazon.
Gina wrote: "When will you start To Kill a Mockingbird??"
Gina I have no idea when I will be reading it. My tbr is full up through July.

Oh! It's okay :)
I went to NYC last week with school. Yeah, all the way from Holland! (:I absolutely visited Barnes and Noble and bought:
- The Long Walk
- Firestarter
- The Notebook
- Dear John
- The Lucky One
- A Walk to Remember
- Safe Haven
I wish I could have bought more, but unfortunately I had to consider the weight of my suitcase.
Very happy with the books I bought of course! (:
Kimberly how exciting for you and great books to boot! I get the impression that you like Nicholas Sparks! hehe
