Rachel I have it too, but have not even considered it yet. There are so many books I wanna read. Geez there is just never enough time to get to them all soon enough.

message 955: by Veronica (new)

Veronica (veraj121) | 328 comments I love the Divergent series. I cant wait for the last book to be released.

Brittany (crackedx_spine) Rachel: I hadn't heard anything about it either until I saw The Outside offered as a giveaway on Goodreads. It sounds really good. I'll definitely let you know.

Awesome haul Sean! Hope you enjoy them! :)

message 962: by Kit★ (new)

Kit★ (xkittyxlzt) | 345 comments A Lion Among Men (The Wicked Years, #3) by Gregory Maguire , Zeke and Ned by Larry McMurtry , Usher's Passing by Robert R. McCammon , Sunset and Sawdust by Joe R. Lansdale , The Ruins by Scott B. Smith , plus another hardback copy of Heart-Shaped Box by Joe Hill even though I already have one, and a few books for my kid and my friend's daughter. Those at a library sale a week or two ago.
Then I found Son of a Witch (The Wicked Years, #2) by Gregory Maguire , Slammerkin by Emma Donoghue , and The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane by Kate DiCamillo , plus more books for the kids at Goodwill. :)
Will have to be the end of my book buying for a few months though I think...

Hey Kit would you be interested at some point to read The Wicked Years series with me? I just got the first book last week and have been dying to fall into this series maybe later this year. I have a feeling I will be getting the rest of them through a third party through Amazon. I might be able to find them through our local UBS.

message 964: by Kit★ (new)

Kit★ (xkittyxlzt) | 345 comments Sure! I just need to get a copy of Wicked. I had one, but it was on a shelf under a window a/c unit, which decided to blow a massive water leak somehow. Ruined it and about 12 other books that were on that shelf, I was so mad! But I've been searching :)

Awesome! This makes me very happy Kit! I am sorry to hear though about your ruined books. I can imagine how you felt! It's no rush, just let me know when you get a hold of a copy of the first one.

message 966: by Dustin (new)

Dustin | 797 comments I really hope you two like the Wicked books! Maguire's a little wordy for my tastes, but beyond that, I really enjoyed the first two books. The third, not so much. I'm not interested in the forth and final installment..

Excellent book haul, Janie!! I adore The Kite Runner and One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest is one of my favorite books of all time!!

Thanks Dustin! :) I have been wanting to get ahold of the wicked years books and found the first one for $3 on the sales rack at our local UBS. I really got some great books for a great price. I was really happy. I will go back and see if I can find the rest of the Wicked Years books maybe next week.

I've had varied luck with him. I liked Wicked when I read it years ago, and liked What-the-Dickens: The Story of a Rogue Tooth Fairy too, but found Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister rather boring and slow.

Kathryn (kcanty313) | 1870 comments We just got home from the bookstore, and I bought a pretty leather-bound book of Edgar Allen Poe, and a paperback of The Kite Runner. Both were a dollar. :)

Nice Haul Holly!

Rachel I have like 10 Hoag books that I have not even read yet. I keep saying read one before I buy more to see if I like her style. Did I do that? No, I just bought. LOL

message 982: by Holly (new)

Holly | 1184 comments Thanks Janie!

I think she's good. Can't wait to read the other two books by her that I got.

message 983: by Rachel (new)

Rachel lol Janie! Hoag is a pretty good writer in my opinion-i read her from time to time. I think you will like her.

This is also the only book by Hoag, and I enjoyed it, as well. Great haul, Holly!!

And I know of your love for Preston & Child! You're awesome, buddy!!

message 991: by Holly (new)

Holly | 1184 comments Yes, LOVE them, lol! Aww, thanks.

It's the final installment in a trilogy. Can't wait to get to it after Mr. Holmes!!!!!

message 992: by Dustin (new)

Dustin | 797 comments You're very welcome!

So there's a trilogy, along with all the other books in the series, or is it entirely different?

message 993: by Holly (new)

Holly | 1184 comments It's in the Pendergast series. There's actually a couple within the series. Along with this series, there's another, then the first two books in the series should be read together as well.

message 994: by Dustin (new)

Dustin | 797 comments Oh, okay. That's kind of confusing, if you didn't know any better..

message 995: by Holly (new)

Holly | 1184 comments I see what you mean. When you look at the list of their novels inside one of the books, it tells you which ones should be read together. Then it's not so confusing; just kind of hard to explain.

message 996: by Dustin (new)

Dustin | 797 comments Yeah, I figured there'd be something like that within each book.

message 997: by Holly (new)

Holly | 1184 comments Yep. Makes it a lot easier. Can't wait to get to the two books by them that I have that I still haven't read. Very excited!! :-D

message 998: by Brittany (new)
