I love the movie, but have never read the actual book, so I figured I might as well.

Looking forward to our Neverendng story read. Hope I can get through it. Not my type of genre to read, but the movies were amazing.

I am sure it will be great. And I have you and Kathryn to push me through it.

message 55: by Kathryn (new)

Kathryn (kcanty313) | 1870 comments Yeah, you know how typically the movie isn't as good as the book? Well, the movie is soooooooooo good, so it makes me wonder how the book stacks up to the movie. It's a short book, too. But, I have a feeling if the movie was made from the book, it should be a good read then. Or I at least hope so. :)

Kit★ (xkittyxlzt) | 345 comments Went to the other Goodwill yesterday, the one that had empty shelves last time I was there, and this time they were loaded with great ones! I sadly had to put about 8 books back because I didn't have enough money. Got Ilium, Burning Bright, The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie, Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH, The Black Gryphon, The Help, and The Slippery Slope (in the Unfortunate Events series. I've been working on collecting them in hardback for 2 years now, just going by what I've found at G.W. I was down to only needing #8 and #10 to finish my set, and this one's #10, I was psyched!). Plus got the kid an Elmo book and a Curious George book. It was a good haul... If I woulda had more money, I would've gotten a lot more, they had so many good ones this time, it was killin' me... :)

message 84: by [deleted user] (new)

Great haul, Kit! Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH and The Help area both especially outstanding books!

Alondra Miller hit the bookstores and cleaned house. at first i was disappointed, because i only found 1 or 2 books and some favorite UBSs; but then The Book Rack (in Charlotte) and the Goodwill next to it, did not disappoint.

**(You always hit the Goodwill prior to going in your favorite UBS. Why pay $5 when you can pay $1??)

I picked up a total of 31 books today for about $40. Including 10 Agatha Christie; Adam, The Giver, Moloka'i, Gorky Park and quite a few others.

I also had Starbucks, which also helps.. :D

Great score Alondra!

Goodwill (charity shops) are the best place for books I always check our local Hospital Aux. Thrift Store first, HB books are .50c and often are on 1/2 price. People donate brand new books. Crazy, but good for bookhounds!
