What books have you bought lately?
Looking forward to our Neverendng story read. Hope I can get through it. Not my type of genre to read, but the movies were amazing.

Yeah, you know how typically the movie isn't as good as the book? Well, the movie is soooooooooo good, so it makes me wonder how the book stacks up to the movie. It's a short book, too. But, I have a feeling if the movie was made from the book, it should be a good read then. Or I at least hope so. :)
Janie wrote: "For sure Alondra! I love Amazon!"Amazon gets me in trouble... :/

I have yet to get that, and am determined to before the end of the year. i absolutely loved the movie. Did the movie follow closely with the book?
Janie wrote: "Looking forward to our Neverendng story read. Hope I can get through it. Not my type of genre to read, but the movies were amazing."the book was good Janie; but I was kinda young when i read it... i think my 20s!!

Hehe Alondra, this will be my first time for this book, so looking forward to it and yet a little reserved too. The movie was excellant IMO. I loved it, but can't compare it to the book yet.

Well I got lucky and Amazon is having a monthly feature of ebooks for 3.99 or less. I just bought the Kindle edition of The Gun Seller for 1.99, and The Girl Next Door for 2.99. It was such a deal I jumped on it fast.

Went to Goodwill yesterday and got a shiny, almost-new paperback of It (I have two hardbacks of it, but now I want to get all my SK's in pb too for a reading copy so I can leave my hardbacks all nice lol), and also got Midnight Magic, The Two Princesses of Bamarre, Castaways of the Flying Dutchman, and a western-ish sounding one that has hardly any reviews or ratings here on GR, Wildcatting.

That's great Janie, The Outsiders is one of my favorite books of all time. Even though it is not in my preferred genre I love it. Some books are just amazing, and it is one of them.

On my way to the supermarket today I passed two thrift stores. I stopped in briefly to scan the shelves and picked up these books for $5 total. The Broken Window by Jeffery Deaver
Guilty as Sin: A Novel by Tami Hoag
No Time for Goodbye by Linwood Barclay
One Breath Away by Heather Gudenkauf
The Stupidest Angel: A Heartwarming Tale of Christmas Terror by Christopher Moore
So I am having a good day, Yep!
Went to the other Goodwill yesterday, the one that had empty shelves last time I was there, and this time they were loaded with great ones! I sadly had to put about 8 books back because I didn't have enough money. Got Ilium, Burning Bright, The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie, Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH, The Black Gryphon, The Help, and The Slippery Slope (in the Unfortunate Events series. I've been working on collecting them in hardback for 2 years now, just going by what I've found at G.W. I was down to only needing #8 and #10 to finish my set, and this one's #10, I was psyched!). Plus got the kid an Elmo book and a Curious George book. It was a good haul... If I woulda had more money, I would've gotten a lot more, they had so many good ones this time, it was killin' me... :)
Great haul, Kit! Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH and The Help area both especially outstanding books!
I've just realized that I haven't bought any books in quite awhile!!!!The last one I got was 1Q84.......what's wrong with me?!?!?! Lol
I purchased Plum Island
for my Nook. It was on sale for $.99 last week. And I am so glad I did because it went back up to $8.99. This was a steal.
Ok so today I went to the UBS again and got some more book. I got:
1)Red #2 and White #3 of the Circle series, by Ted Dekker. (Need Black #1 and Green #4 still)
2) Nightmares & Dreamscapes. Stephen King
3) Carrie, Stephen King
4) The Wolves of Calla, #5 of the Dark Tower (Yay I have them all now!)
5) Intensity, Dean Koontz (Got it for $1, could not pass it up!)
So I had a good day with books!

I'm so VERY happy for you, Janie!!
hit the bookstores and cleaned house. at first i was disappointed, because i only found 1 or 2 books and some favorite UBSs; but then The Book Rack (in Charlotte) and the Goodwill next to it, did not disappoint. **(You always hit the Goodwill prior to going in your favorite UBS. Why pay $5 when you can pay $1??)
I picked up a total of 31 books today for about $40. Including 10 Agatha Christie; Adam, The Giver, Moloka'i, Gorky Park and quite a few others.
I also had Starbucks, which also helps.. :D
Janie wrote: "Oh nice Alondra!! Sounds great. And you got Adam!!!"yes ma'am. In hardback and only $4 bucks!!! the book ass't walked me right to it... :D

Goodwill (charity shops) are the best place for books I always check our local Hospital Aux. Thrift Store first, HB books are .50c and often are on 1/2 price. People donate brand new books. Crazy, but good for bookhounds!
