So, I set my goal high this year but did read 94 books last year. Six more should be easy. Here is what I've finished so far. Feel free to join in:

I'm aiming to read 100 books this year as well but keeping my list in a notebook in my bedroom. I've been keeping the reading log for 5 years now. The most I've read in a year before was 88.

My goal is 100 this year! I made a goodreads bookshelf to keep track.

I made good progress in January, 12 books. February isn't going so well, but I had a run of 4 books that I really didn't like almost in a row (The Andromeda Strain, The Reader, The King of Torts and Beloved). Hopefully, I can pick up the pace for the rest of the month! :)

Well, really I'm trying to get them read early. I wanna buy new books! Its been 46 days and I'm going through withdrawals! I'm hoping to be done by late September/early October, but earlier would be great!

Wow, Jensownzoo, you're almost 1/4 of the way there already! Maybe you should go for 150 or even 200!

I'm trying to read 100 this year too, which is one of the reasons I don't want to read the whole Outlander series. They are all so long, and Outlander took me a whole week to read, so it set me back.

Here's what I've read so far.

It's amazing how much reading you can do when you focus on it, especially when you include audiobooks. For me, listening in the middle of the night when I can't fall back to sleep has really taken alot of the stress out of not sleeping.

I had joined the 50 books a year group then later realized it was too easy. So I joined 75 books a year and the 100+ books a year groups. Then I deleted both posts of my books read so far and left the groups. They don't really chat there and I didn't need a list of my books online since I keep them in a notebook. It's enough for me to keep my handwritten logbook and update the books status to read in my shelves here on goodreads. I'm up to 16 for the year so far with like 7 on the go.

OMG Allison I looked at your 2009 list. 33?? Wow! And I think I saw all of the Outlander books in your list. How do you do it??

Laura, I feel you on the setbacks... Beloved should have taken me about a day to read, but it took me four times as long because I just couldn't stand to pick it up again. I seriously think that is my least favorite book ever.

Yeah, and then what's worse is you are less likely to put a book down when you're not really liking it, cuz you spent all that time reading and you want to read 2 books a week still!

I'm having that problem now with Cat's Eye (Atwood). I like it, but it's just not moving fast enough for me. It's like, okay, you had a crummy childhood, get to the punchline already!

I like the idea of this I always set my goals high because there are so many good books I want to read! I'm going to go in on this one I have a list on my personal computer at home but off the top of my head I think I've read.. mmm I think I'm on my 11th book so far.. Most of them I've read in the last 2 weeks..haha

I don't know what it is...I just read really fast once I get into a book...and since the new year, I have been so determined to read whenever I get a chance just because I have so many unread books lying around.

Laura, you've read a ton this year too! I wouldn't worry about reading all the Outlander you want...they all go by super fast. Also-I noticed you read Anne of Green Gables, did you love it? It is probably my favorite book ever...you should look into the rest of that series!

I am SO EXCITED that you are going to read the rest of the series! She stays 100% captivating through the whole thing. I have seen the TV series, and I do like it (even though the book lover in me cringes that it is so NOT true to the story). One of the reason I love it is that both Anne and Gilbert actually look almost exactly like I pictured in my head. How often does THAT happen?

I'll be interested to see how you enjoy the rest of the books, because I don't know that many people that have read them all.

My goal was a loose new year's resolution. I don't actually work at having to read 2 books a year. I just started a log book one summer for the adult summer reading program at the library and kept the log book going. I'd add a book when I finished one and was curious to see how many there were at the end of the year. Last year I read 83, almost beating my record year of 88. I'd love to break a 100, but don't know if I will or not. Joining in some reading challenges on GR might help me break it this year. But generally, I just read what I want, when I want and just write it down when done. I'm just basing my resolution close to last year's total.

I have a lot of longish classics to read (Roots, The Woman in White, Bleak House, Emma, etc), so I am hoping that I can keep up the pace in order to get somewhere near the remaining 85 books I need to read. But I'd be happy with just reading as many as I can.

I do fully enjoy the stories (as long as they are enjoyable!). I don't rush the reading of them, really, I just move from one to the next quickly!

I really want to read Bleak House soon, I've been hearing a lot of good things about it lately.

I currently have five main books going: Emma - online at work and on my ipod, The Color of Magic - audiobook, Watchmen, The Year of Living Biblically One Man's Humble Quest to Follow the Bible As Literally As Possible, and If On a Winter's Night a Traveler.
I need to read about 17 books a month to reach my goal. I read 52 books in eleven weeks last year, so I think I'll be able to make it.

Naw. Right now is my prime reading time. Once spring gets here I garden and work on the house and do other warmer weather things, so reading slows way down.
