Thanks Zulmara - it's the "getting it done" that counts in my head as well. Extra motivation and a good excuse to shoo the rest of the household away

As long as you write 50,000 words you can pretty much do as you want. I re-started mine last year to change viewpoints.

Your story sounds really good and the prologue makes me want to read more. Why do you do this to me???

message 105: by Marlene (new)

Marlene (marlene1001) Yes you did. I made a habit of looking at the NaN-profiles posted here to see what the others write. Why did you have to post a prologue like that? ;)
Side note: Great writing style or you wouldn't have hooked me.

message 106: by Marlene (new)

Marlene (marlene1001) I know. When you talk to me: Keep in mind that my humor mostly consists of sarcasm and irony. And I use that a lot. Sorry! ^^
No pressure for NaNo, indeed. NaNo is just for fun. :)

message 107: by Marlene (new)

Marlene (marlene1001) Okay then. Sometimes it's difficult to know when someone is using sarcasm. So I better make sure everybody understands me, or the will be ugly misunderstandings.
And now I'll make you blush some more and say again that your writing style is amazing.
:P

Cameron Lawton | 13 comments Tomorrow is our Samhain celebration so I won't get anything else done at all. BUT my main character, plot and settings are worked out, so ..... here we go guys, good luck and keep the coffee coming!

message 109: by Emily (new)

Emily E (emily_e1) | 20 comments 51 minutes to go... (must sleep before writing!)

message 110: by Lissibith (new)

Lissibith | 2 comments Good luck all. :) I'm starting to wish I'd taken tomorrow off from work to get a head start!

message 111: by Marlene (new)

Marlene (marlene1001) Why do you all have so amazing stories?
I feel stupid. :(

And I want to read them! Definitely!
Question to everybody: Do you post your stories somewhere? Or will they collect dust in your computer after NaNo?
And would you be willing to share them?

Just a thought...

message 112: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) For those who have done or tried NaNo before, how long does it usually take you to get to 1667 words?

message 113: by Marlene (new)

Marlene (marlene1001) Depends. Some days I write that in under two hours or even in one. Some days I sit in front of my laptop, tyong for hours, and still don't reach the goal. I don't know why it's like that, I just know that I will write those 1667 words every day, even if it kills me and even if I have to sit there the whole night.

message 114: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) I hope I can manage it in 1 to 2 hours, lol.

message 115: by Marlene (new)

Marlene (marlene1001) Oh. You have already started, right? It's another four hours for me. ^^

message 116: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Wenn (jenniferwenn) | 1 comments 15 minutes left until October turns into November and I'm on! I must admit I really look forward to this and I desperately hope I can keep up at least 1667 words a day.

Good luck all wrimos!

YES!

message 118: by Kala (new)

Kala Hello all :) I "won" last year, going to try and "win" again this year! Good luck to everyone

message 119: by Mollie (new)

Mollie (englishchick) I am working on a writing exercise right now to give myself a better outline for where I want my story to go. It is actually quite surprising to see what is coming out of me when I just have to write something for 3 minutes without stopping and what I can get out of it. I want to finish NaNoWriMo and win! I can do it!

message 120: by Kezia (new)

Kezia Lucas (kezialucas) | 1 comments Sooo excited, let's all stick together and cheer each other on. We can do this...one month 50k words and an amazing outcome. Can't Wait!

Good to meet you all! For all you newbies, you CAN do it :)

message 123: by Marlene (new)

Marlene (marlene1001) Who took your books? And where can I find them?
Other Wrimos publishing their novels is always very encouraging. :)

message 125: by Laura (new)

There's a list on the website of books published from NaNo http://www.nanowrimo.org/en/published... :)

message 127: by Marlene (new)

Marlene (marlene1001) Thanks. I think I even came across that one time, but I didn't find it again. Sometimes it's like a labyrinth. ^^

Trisha (librarytechone) Sarah Jane wrote: "it's about that time, doncha think?"
1 hour and 8 minutes for me here.

message 129: by Lynxie (new)

Lynxie I'm not officially registered, but it's about 17hrs into day 1 and I've not written a word! @_@

message 130: by Laura (new)

Laura (lbrimer) 2.5 hrs into NaNoWriMo and I've got 2k words! It's gone be a good day, tater. :)

message 131: by Hayley (new)

Hayley (applesticker) I've had 18hrs, and written just under 900. But that was in 45mins of writing so I'm pretty happy. Won't get to put a lot of effort into this until my exmans finish in the 8th...

message 132: by Lois (new)

Lois (loisbennett) 100 down...

Carolyn (carly1967) | 15 comments wow! I need to get started!!

message 136: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) Mine is horrible, but at least I'm getting the words down. Halfway to 1667.

message 137: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) It's amazing how much of this is psychological. I'm putting too much pressure on myself. This is supposed to be fun, an adventure. It doesn't matter if it's good, it just matters that we're doing it!

GO GO GO GO

lol

message 138: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) Go Shambhawi, Go! :D

message 142: by G (new)

G (g1enna) Hi everyone,

This is my first year, and YIKES, I haven't written a word yet! Now I'm at work....I'm hoping to sneak in a few sentences at lunch.

I am inspired by all of you!

G

message 143: by G (new)

G (g1enna) Yay, Shambhawi! Newbies together :D

message 144: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) My first too!

The best thing about doing this for me so far is learning to turn off the internal editor and just get the words down. It can be very freeing!

message 145: by Jackie (new)

Jackie | 7 comments Hello. New at this. Managed 1724 today so on track, but this was an easy bit. Still not sure where my plot is going so expect it will get much harder.

message 146: by Glenda (new)

Glenda Poulter | 4 comments I did 1785 this morning and then had to come to work. I hope to get in another 500-1000 on my dinner break. I have absolutely NO plot right now, just a bunch of characters, so I'm sketching them out and hoping one of them will tell me their story.

message 147: by G (new)

G (g1enna) OMG I am sooo behind! I have maybe 200 words. I am a crappy describer :)

Onward!

message 148: by G (new)

G (g1enna) Thanks Shambhawi! I am just putting stuff down....I may just be writing in circles but dang it that is okay :)

I had my characters, plot and..."

Everything changed for me too. I had so much figured out about my characters in early October that they told me the whole story and I got bored with the idea of writing a story I already know. So I started today with one line in my head and one character (who's based on a real person) but now it's rolling!

It's kind of weird not knowing anything, but it makes me excited to see what the story will become. It's really egging me on to write it. And I love that!
